try this one for tires: http://www.edgeracing.com/ their prices are always lowest, and they aren't some cheesy looking "out of business tomorrow" kind of website . . . i've even used their prices (as they are authorized dealers of everything they sell) to get discount tire to price-match, saving the shipping costs and usually several hundred dollars off of what discount quotes as retail price . . . tires are marked up soooo much! chris

argument, it's spelled a r g u m e n t "Dude"- you've officially established yourself as the biggest moron on the usmb. don't take your stupidity that was left to be ignored in one thread, and drag it over to another . . . you being an a$$cap doesn't help the OP's situation . . . 90Legacywagon, sorry again about your car- good luck with the new engine chris

just sounds better than, "find a used Neon" (36mpg in it's last config) or "go pay way too much for a TDI VW" (40+ mpg's, but overpriced and unreliable) my answer, find an old import from the main four . . . honda, toyota, subaru, nissan/datsun . . . it amazes me that with 25-30 years of "development" cars today have worse fuel economy than their predecessors (almost all models from any of the above were rated at 30+mpg's in the 70's!) that conversation though = chris

depends on the parts mountainwalker . . . for gaskets and a few other things, it's often best (and not much more expensive) to buy OEM replacement parts from subaru, this site has been recommended here before: http://www.subarupartsforyou.com/ for almost everything else i've found http://www.rockauto.com/ to be a decent place with good selection and good shipping . . . if you do a search, there was just a thread asking this same question a few weeks back . . . chris

wow who'da thought you could hydra-lock an engine with gasoline?! i guess i always thought that like diesel, gas would just detonate at a certain pressure level . . . obviously i'm wrong (or the pressure level required is much higher than a gasoline engine can handle) thats very not good. i'm sorry man :-\ +1 on the "what was the reason for replacing the injector in the first place?" chris

or, you could listen to experience of folks here who have many trails and streams under their belt (or belts, as the case may be [timing belts]) and sleep soundly knowing that if you take your subaru thru water and aren't a complete 'tard, it won't go boom "Authoratative automotive websites" also say never to drive over the speed limit, to check your lug-nuts and tire pressure daily, to always have your hands at the 3 and 9 o'clock position on the steering wheel (used to be 10 and 2 until they figured out people's hands were pushed thru windshields and mangled when the airbag goes off), and to never, ever, under any circumstances drive anywhere until your engine reaches full operating temperature (are you kidding me? at $4 per gallon?!) bad advice, not necessarily, but real world reasonable, not at all. . . that is all chris

Baja Bug type modification for the Subaru

those are sexy pics king!! my version . . . hydro-locking is something i researched pretty extensively a few years ago when i was modding my infiniti G35 cpe, wanted to put on a cold air intake, but at the same time i wanted to know that the average I-5 puddle here in washington state (small lakes to the rest of the country) wasn't going to cost me $4000 because my cone filter was 4" off the concrete :-\ it was fine. and any good air filter (doesn't have to be K&N, but i enjoy mine) will filter out all but the smallest water molecules unless you absolutely submerge the thing . . . which is why i said "be aware of where your intake is" chris

are people on this forum seriously suggesting that you don't take a subaru thru water??! these aren't ford products, they won't break if you look at them funny and they don't catch fire randomly in parking lots. i have taken an old stock soobiewagon places that quads and big 'ol jacked up trucks couldn't go, with no more ill effect than a dented rocker panel where there was a stump hiding in the 14+ inches of water i was fjording yes, because your soob is substantially newer you do have a somewhat higher danger of electrical issues, but honestly, only if you submerge the ECU!! i agree that your particular O2 sensor may be a little finicky, you may want to double check that it's torqued into it's bung correctly. once you've done that, you're free to go "knuckle deep" as it were, just try to keep the water outside the doors and do be aware of where your engine's air intake is, as hydro-locking is not a good thing, although it takes more water in an engine to experience this than most people think. have fun, get dirrrty , post pics! chris

congrats on getting married! if i read the thread correctly that should've happened in the past few days . . . that car dealership sucks. seriously. i've worked for two large dealerships here in WA and even though i may have questioned their practices from time to time, in the end they always made it right for the customer. either by eating some if not all of the repair costs of a recently sold vehicle with issues, or allowing the customer to return the vehicle if it had it's issues within a reasonable amount of time. even service departments. the morons they hire to work on your cars, if you only knew . . . you'd never trust your car to a dealership again. dealerships recognize this though, and will generally do whatever it takes to "hush up" a disgruntled service customer, because service is where any dealership makes 65-80% of their annual profits (those gouging prices you mention) keep being "the noisy wheel" let them know you're posting your results on a subaru forum that has 23,532 members, each of which have at least 10 folks they can share your experience with . . . and on and on and on. threaten to contact the local newspaper/television station. take out an ad in the local paper describing your ordeal (or at least tell the dealership you will). anything that will be detrimental to their bottom line beyond the simple repair costs of your particular vehicle can be used as a tool in negotiating a satisfactory solution with this stealership don't let the bad guy win. ever. chris

all this talk of EMP's and walmart leads me to the natural question . . . . can we ask that they specificaly target the wal marts???? lets somehow lead "them" to believe that there is something of value to target at walmarts, the same way walmart has been brainwashing US that there's something of value at walmart?? that would be  with me please and thankyou kommrrrad's chris

Sealing up the cam tower
audio_file replied to mudduck's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
+1, don't use too much (issues of extra sealant going places where you don't want it are documented well), make sure you've cleaned out the groove on the mating surfaces . . . chris -

rob-thanks, i'll be here . . . frank, sorry, i never got "the call" the other day, so i'll keep an eye open for that stuff today, unless rob tells me otherwise chris -
yeah, wiring's the easy part . . . for me it's the "fuel, spark, air" thing that gets complicated just to give you an idea, i noticed that the driver's side headlamp was quite a bit dimmer than the passenger's side on my XT6. 1st thought was a grounding issue, and as i was investigating that, i stumbled across an almost completely eroded main headlight connection right there on the driver's side. culprit? battery acid at some point caused that complete plastic connection at the back of the lamp to disintegrate, barely keeping a connection after 15 minutes, three solders (3 connections at that one spot) and some heat shrink, life was good chris

My new Stainless Steel Appliance (DMC!)
audio_file replied to bryanthompson's topic in Non Soob Cars and Bikes Discussion
a new company has taken over DMC, and upon finding warehouses full of complete cars and parts, they've started to "re-market" the DMC-12. you can buy one of these brand new, again . reason i mention it is because i'm just about positive that they went with gm engines, a coupla options too. chris
