  1. Well According to my service manager and the parts manager there is a lifetime warranty on all subaru seatbelts that fray....apparently its some type of federal mandate or something....i believe its limited to 15 years from date of purchase though....
  2. wow thats a good point...that would be pretty dangerous in a wreck...lol...i just remember one of the techs i worked with a while ago told me about the mercury switch....i remember picking up a good used seatbelt out of a Legacy a while ago and for the life of me i couldnt get it out until i bolted the thing in...lol...this was before i knew that subaru seatbelts have a lifetime warranty against fraying and such.....lol
  3. well the STI i saw the perrin one on did not have the stock subframe in place...but the thing handled like it was on rails.... another one i found a few months ago and was thinking about putting on the WRX.... http://www.rallysportdirect.com/shop/beatrush-wrxsti-super-light-subframe-p-3065.html
  4. i could be mistaken but i have been told there is a mercury switch inside the seatbelt retraction mechanism....so i guess that would make perfect sense as to why it should only come out at a specific angle.....
  5. http://www.customcarscentral.com/prnpspsus550-subaru-wrx-sti.html i saw these the other day on an STI at work.....they looked pretty impressive...and not really as big a pricetag as i thought...ive heard of a few others but cant remember them off the top of my head...
  6. yeah you could always just replace the front Subframe with an aftermarket unit...It looks really cool...
  7. you could shower the sunroof area with some water just to make sure that its coming from where you think....don't want to go replacing this and that if your not absolutely positive of the area of the leak...
  8. I think it all depends on what brand it is...I have seen universal ones that will fit both turbo and n/a models...
  9. I love the side skirts and by looking at the front end you can kind of tell it was built by Subaru (grill looks similar)...i do agree that it could use a little lower roofline though....as long as its still powered by a Boxer Engine and has Subarus "famous" AWD i dont see a problem..
  10. It should work fine....unless it says on the packaging or instructions or whatever that it wont.....
  11. Also not as common as the leaky valve covers or belt idlers....but we've seen a few timing chain tensioner's go bad...
  12. I hear ya...LOL i was frozen when i did mine a few weeks ago in my garage...
  13. slegacy96- the only thing i can relate to with your problem...is My tach went out a while ago on my 96 Legacy (198,000 miles)read the wrong RPM I guess you can kind of say it was stuck between like 1000-4000 RPM...its super easy to pull the cluster and just replace the tach head out of a donor car.... i think in total its 11 phillips screws ( 4 in bezel around cluster, 4 holding cluster in, 3 holding tach in) and like 4 electrical connectors...If you have a known good cluster you could always take a few min. and swap the gauges over.....also if you replaced the speedo and now that works perfectly..i would def. suspect the gauges themselves over a connector/wire however it obviously cant hurt to make sure there fully plugged in and not gummed up with anything....
  14. not to sure what your referring to when you say alternator cover...the cover for the drive belts?...The heat shield for the turbo? Well it cant hurt to have it on there..keeps things in the vicinity from being burnt...granted I dont have one on my WRX....than again though i cant im running at GT32.......I have seen customers cars with them off...but unless your thinking of modifying something like the turbo or downpipe I would keep it on....
  15. Man its really even easier than that article describes i think it took me all of about 15-20 min. in my 96 Legacy....I dont know about the dealer where you are but at my dealership I think you even have to order some of those small bulbs.....Good Luck!
  16. Yeah I didnt think you could either...than they showed me on the there website that they sell KYB's and Monroe....
  17. i would give NAPA a try....I just bought struts from them the other day for my 96 Leg. and I got them same day....
  18. Ive priced 6 speeds from various sources (ebay, craigslist etc....) and it all depends if you want just the tranny or the whole 9 yards for the swap....tranny,R180 rear diff, axles, hubs, brakes etc...but i have seen just the trannys sell for as little as $1800-$2000....
