  1. i saw this the other day....seems easy enough to make...but there are other ones out there...maybe cheaper too....http://www.iwsti.com/forums/how-install/119676-diy-another-boost-leak-tester.html
  2. we had something similar to this the other day at work...with a brand new Legacy...somehow someone spilled something sticky (soda) on the connectors for the fuel level sendor and fuel pump...
  3. I think he is refering to mother in law..i could me wrong though....just one more thought on the subject.....check for bad wheel bearings....pretty common problem also.....
  4. as far as i know i have the original pump and sending units....96 Legacy EJ22 almost 196,000 miles
  5. the pressure regulator should be on the front of the passangers side fuel rail....right around number one cylinder on the fuel rail......i believe spec fuel psi. is like 43.5 PSI....
  6. do a search here...you will find tons....but the notable things are maintaince items first of all....timing belt, flushes, oil changes etc...also not that the 2.2 is prone to it but check the headgaskets over...have they ever been changed? also check for torque bind....get the car up to operating temp. and go to an open parking lot and do a series of figure eights and see if you feel any binding......also check to see if you hear the wheel bearings howling at all...
  7. +1 for seafoam....i had a HLA tick and i ran like 1/2 can of seafoam through it and it hasnt come back in a good while....knock on wood....
  8. thanks for the tip SPR...that is also what the previous owner told me.....its the same trans thats in the legacy! designed for like 160 HP!....
  9. it is kind of nice with the new ones that have the "oil filter access" cover with only the little clips....
  10. cool....thanks man!....everywere i go gives an hourly rate for tuning.....do you have idea what the average tuning session entails...like how many hours...i know it varys by car and upgrades and everything...but any ballpark estimates?
  11. i also found one not to long ago.... http://ken-gilbert.com/impreza-manuals
  12. heat shields are all around and on the exhaust....when you get under the car just make a fist or take a screw driver and tap on the exhaust shields and if it rattles...wala...
  13. and every person who takes it down and puts it back up and down and up and down and up ends up stripping all the little bolts.....i got one the other day were i guy was holding it on with zip ties...lol
  14. yeah there prob. due....as far as i know i had the original ones on my 96 until like 190,000 miles.....
  15. i believe that is normal were it bottoms out deeper.....if i remember correctly the cam cap is on the drivers side front which might make it seem it is deeper....as i said i tried to go by the haynes manual the first one i did and it didnt seem COMPLETELY right to me so i figure its not that far between were they say its supposed to be and the bottom of it so i just gave it a few extra taps.....also why would they make the hole that recess all that big if they didnt want you to bottom it out?....
  16. first of all welcome....well....it should go in as deep as the old one was....but you can usually feel it bottom out.....every cam seal on a Subie ive ever done i just tapped it in until i felt it bottom out and ive never had a problem....when you get the chance pick up a Haynes manual....very helpful......also dont forget to do the crank seal, cam cap o-rings, pulleys, and tensioner while your in there....might also want to consider the H20 pump and resealing the oil pump......
  17. well as some of you know i was fortunate enough to obtain a 2002 WRX.....i know this is prob. better fielded by the guys at NASIOC or Clubwrx.net but i thought i would ask here anyways.....are there any decent priced reliable tuners in the PA,VA,DE,MD,NJ area? ive got a TON of mods on the car and i just have a feeling it isnt running at its full potential ......thanks for your time....-AJ
  18. tool just makes things easier (for me at least)....may i ask how many miles are on the car?
  19. the inner tie rod end screws into the end of the steering rack....you could invest in an inner tie rod tool...it is very helpful....and not to expensive.....i think the inner tie rods on my 96 Legacy were 22mm
  20. im very sorry to hear this....some guy where i used to go to school scratched the hell out of my truck on the 96....he dragged a roof shingle across it and left the shingle right next to the car......some people are real pricks.....
  21. NICE! im impressed! im at about 196,000 on my Legacy and only like 74,000 on the WRX
  22. is it legal to do that?....both of my Subs are Lowered not lifted so i may run into some problems...lol
  23. very straight forward...i dont really remember the size of wrench im going to say 22mm but im prob. wrong....yes above fluid level...undo sensor connector, undo sensor, replace....about 5 min....you prob. have to jack the car up though....
