  1. i could be wrong but i dont think i am........take a look at the throttle body from the front of the car....stand directly above it and look straight down on the left side of it....(use a flashlight) you should be able to see the hose connected to the top of it......if you can pick up a haynes manual they are very helpful.....they arent that hard to replace......i believe its a 19mm with a long extension.....
  2. do a few searches or take a look at the bottom for the "related threads"..... from what i hear subarus are very "touchy" when it comes to non OEM axles.....speaking of....im doing 3 axle boots tomarrow on my car.... im sure someone else will chime in with more info....
  3. NICE!....the color that i think looks really nice is the bright white.....
  4. prob. not likely but almost anything is possible with electrical problems.....im sure others smarter than i will chime in but i would check all connections....the only thing that comes to mind right now is the computer but they rarely go bad....sorry i couldnt be of more help....you dont have any check engine lights or battery lights on or anything do you?
  5. first and foremost i would check all your fuses (unlikely but possible)....than i would do a visual for any open exposed wires.....do you know the age or state of your alternator/ battery? how many miles on your car?
  6. YES...got to drive a bright like forest green 03 legacy today...i really like that color....
  7. just mentioning what others have said.....i had this very thing happen to my 96 legacy 2.2 i was cruising up a semi-steep hill at about 60 mph, hit a BUMP and .....than the car started to sputter and it died......cranked its butt off but wouldnt start.......turns out the timing belt jumped a tooth or two ( it was a pretty hard BUMP)...... anyways good thing is its a non interference engine so no harm done....
  8. i obviously know its not the best route for it....but when i put in my amp's i ran my power wire through the opening for the clutch cable......though there is plenty of room under there to drill a new hole...... but yes as others have said make sure the wire isnt rubbing against anything.....
  9. ah yes....i just got around to replacing my clutch cable in my 96 legacy 2.2...i was wondering why the pedal felt so much easier to push in......my subie had the original clutch cable at 192,000 miles....its amazing the difference......
  10. its a pretty easy job...i myself have a 96 legacy with a 2.2 and its prob. the easiest alt. i have ever done (i got a job at work today for an alt. on a 89 prelude and lets just say..... thats why i have a subaru) anyways enough of me babbling on.....if you do get the chance i would pick up a haynes manual, its one of the easiest ways to learn new things....and there only like $20......or im not to sure but maybe this site may be some help.... http://www.endwrench.com .... do a search in the archives section......
  11. dont use any gasket sealant..new valve cover gaskets do wonders....i just replaced them on my 96 2.2......the new gasket set should come with gromits for the bolts.......i think for both sides it took me like 20 min.....its not hard.....just dont overtorque the bolts....
  12. not that this has anything to do with your post..... but your from austrailia and its a brumby....check this thing out....... http://youtube.com/watch?v=enMDCVKVjUc
  13. 1995...well im not sure if you have the same thing as i do on my 96 legacy ej22 but i have 2 coolant temp sensors....1 for the gauge and 1 for the computer/fans whatever.....if you say your gauge is fine than i would replace the one for the computer......
  14. i have a 96' legacy and they are basically all the same.....all you need is a few simple tools, a jack, jackstands, and a couple hours (if that) (for a novice).....i would suggest buying a haynes book for this car they are very handy ( i did my whole clutch job with that book alone).....
  15. like i said i would def. do a very thorough look over the car and make sure everything is ok...and if it is and you can replace the mount i would see no problem not to buy it.....is it and auto or manual trans?
  16. +1^ it sounds like a good deal to me if that happens to be the ONLY problem.....i would try to get them to knock off the $200 for the mount.....and if you get the mount they are pretty easy to do...even in your driveway......i would get together a list of questions to ask them about recent service...timing belt, head gaskets, rust, anything you can think of....that is a good low mileage car with a great engine but it is 13 years old......
  17. when i did my cam seals i just held the sprocket with a massive pry bar and it worked beautifully....
  18. could always try changing the auto. trans fluid..... and with the new fluid add an additive/conditioner (i have heard that this works in some cases)....
  19. thats pretty cool...i dont think i have ever seen anything like that before.....
  20. could be torque bind.....is this a manual trans or automatic?...either way do a search for "torque bind" or look down the bottom of this thread for the related posts.....how many miles?
  21. ive bought many things for my 96' legacy off of http://www.autopartswarehouse.com very good prices never any problems and fast shipping...
