  1. i was just reading something in i believe feb/march issue of subiesport mag.....i believe they put an upgraded radiator in a 1993 impreza...according to the article it wasnt that difficult.....(i tried some searching online but couldnt find the article).....
  2. Nice!...you should get some coilovers or lowering springs and tuck that thing......
  3. well...if your absolutely sure its coming from the transmission....the next place i would say is check the pan gasket.....was the white smoke coming out of the tailpipe or just from underneath the car?
  4. yeah... pretty much all the second gen legacys i have worked on the fuel injectors seem just a little bit louder than on other cars.....
  5. i was nervous the first time i dug into a car also.....im still nervous when i do something i have never done before..anyways the best advice i can give you is take your time.....and if you ever do need help with anything you dont understand, besides here there are host of other forums and posts that are extremely helpful.....Oh also buy a haynes manual for your car....give her a read over and im sure that will make you feel more confidant
  6. i only have two things to say about the 2.5..... 1) take the car for a good long drive and make sure it is up to operating temperature and doesnt overheat...the 2.5's were known for bad head gaskets 2) again make sure the car is warmed up and take it to parking lot and do figure 8's and sharp turns and make sure there is no binding/noise....... how many miles are on the car itself? is this a 5 speed or an automatic? im sure others will chime in later.....
  7. if it is a cable clutch there is a chance it is binding or loose.... first i would go down around the clutch pedal and take a peak around.....also pop open the hood and make sure the cable isnt routed wrong....you could also take it back to the place that worked on it......how many miles are on the car?
  8. http://www.endwrench.com/current/Current6/03/WhBearRep.pdf check that out.....you could get the hub out in your driveway and if you dont have a press than you could either beat it out... or take it to a shop and have the old one pressed out and the new pressed in (there may be seals involved also)...... there was also a nice write up with pics. about wheel bearing replacement on NASIOC but i cant seem to find it at the moment.....
  9. i dont know if you have the means but you could try and recover the existing refrigerant pull a vaccum and recharge....it could just be low on oil......i still have the original A/C compressor in my 96 legacy and it gives off a little screech every now and than but is still works great!...
  10. yeah i would take it for a drive on different roads/speeds etc.... and add a bottle of that marvels mystery oil or equivelant to the oil fill and see what happens.....from what ive read often they can unstick themselves.....
  11. i think you have mechanical lifter but def. sounds like a stuck lifter to me....i had this problem on my 96...i drove it around for a little while and added a bottle of marvels mystery oil and it hasnt come back since......than again it could also be a host of other things.....how many miles are on your car?
  12. not sure if your model year calls for platinum plugs or not.....but i have a 96 legacy 2.2 5 spd. and i put platinums in there and my car ran horribly...once i switched out for regular champions the car never ran better.....just mentioning it....
  13. at that mileage..you might want to go ahead and put in a thermostat and replace the upper and lower rad. hoses.....(i know my drivers side cam seal was leaking all over my lower rad. hose and it was swelled up like a sausage)....
  14. if you havent had a tune up in a while that couldnt hurt..... fuel filter air filter oil change PCV valve maybe plugs and wires....
  15. i believe you can get a decent set of WRX rims for around $350-450.....give a little if you have some decent tires wrapped around them.....
  16. wow!....i managed to pick one up for about 25$ for my 96 legacy for my drivers side about a year ago.....than again mine is just a black mirror that didnt need to be painted.......but i would def. check out all your local junkyards before you pay big....who knows you might get lucky!
  17. thanks for your input guys.....i still refuse to believe there is a problem with my car....but i cant say i havent learned anything....
  18. it looks to me from that pic that they are starting to take the shape of the new mercedes....
  19. is there any way you can tell if the transmissions are different if i get you the number off the old and the new transmissions?....again if there is a problem here i dont see it because isnt running at a lower engine RPM better for the engine anyway.....
  20. well....i def. understand your reasoning.......this has been like this for the past 20k miles....i even hooked up a scan tool to watch the RPM's while i drove......the engine even sounds like its at the right RPM......but i still refuse to see that there is a problem here.....
