very straight forward...i dont really remember the size of wrench im going to say 22mm but im prob. wrong....yes above fluid level...undo sensor connector, undo sensor, replace....about 5 min....you prob. have to jack the car up though.... -
coming from a guy who works for Subaru..i will say they are phenominal cars....just remember to keep up the maintaince on them....timing belt, flushes, belts, hoses,brakes...etc....they will last you for many miles if taken care of properly....now if you said 21 year old GUY than i would say the car would prob last for about a week... check out http://www.cars101.com alot of info there....

prob. not the best method but sometimes you can redline it in neutral for a second to get the air out....i did the radiator on saturday in my 96 Legacy and for the life of me couldnt get all the air bubbles out...no matter what i did the bottom hose was still cold...so after running out of options i remember someone telling me you could just gas it a few times....worked for me....

yea i just took a look at that post a few min. ago.....a while ago somebody spilled soda on the control head because the cup holder is right under it i guess....so im thinking i need a control head....i took it out and jiggled the wires around and the mode dooe motor is new..i have power and ground....so off to the junkyard tomarrow i guess.....

alrighty...i have a 96 legacy sedan ej22....i turned off my car 2 days ago with the ventilation setting on passangers face.....i turned on my car today and when ever i press any of the other buttons on the control head like defrost or floor or anything the ventilation doesnt change...i have run into this problem before and it turned out that the mode door motor was fried so i replaced it and it worked great...that was about 20,000 miles ago....the AC button works and so does the fan speed...but nothing when i press the vent door buttons (defrost, floor...etc...).....any ideas on what to check here....im used to hearing the mode door motor when i press the buttons but i dont hear anything now.....can the motor fail that quick....ill be poking around a little bit today with it....but i just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on what to check....wiring...etc....thanks for your time....

if you can take a look at the neutral switch on the scan tool....you can just move the shifter back and forth not putting it in gear and if the switch is truely bad than it will think it is in gear when it really is not..... (it will say on the scan tool if the car is in gear or not)...at least on the selectmonitor it does...sorry i cant explain it better... -

if you have access to a scantool expecially the selectmonitor (im sure others will work to) go to the data display and you can look at tons of parameters...the way i found it was i went down to like idle control system and i jiggled the shifter without putting into gear and putting it into gear and you can see the IAC counts go crazy.....but yes it was a 519 code -

+1 ^ sea#3....i saw this for the first time the other day at work.......took me forever to find the problem..... -
sometimes the ring/lip around the center of the rear rotors were the e-brake shoes go in rubs on the backing plate there....we see it alot when we resurface rotors....you can usually only hear it at slow speeds while turning.....nonetheless if you have a die grinder you can try and grind some of the lip off of the new rotor and see if it helps.....sometimes some road grime/ rust or whatever gets behind the backing plate and pushes out....

lol...thanks reveen.....i drove another WRX at work yesterday and it only had 4k miles more than mine and first gear already seemed a little quirky.....than again the 1st 5spd trans in my 96 lasted 6 owners, being incredibly beat (for how much you can beat a 135 HP car), and almost 190,000 miles.....
