i did all my speakers last year in my 96 legacy......the front door speakers are 10xs easier to do than the rears which are located in the deck lid.........i had a heck of a time trying to get the deck lid cover off in one piece....than after i did get it off the kid who had it before me i believe retrofitted 6x9s in there....if i were you if you dont have that much time i would replace the front.......i do def. notice a sound difference with my new speakers.......if your looking at a specific brand may i recommend sony.....every one else i talk to says sony is junk but i have never had a single problem....... 8 out of the 14 speakers in my legacy are sony and it sounds amazing.......

Nice...hopefully i will be as lucky...today actually i just rolled over to 192,000 on my 96 legacy....you said it man "all thanks to the EJ22"...... -
perfect example....my o2 sensor got ripped off my 96 legacy (long story) so i just soldered it back in place and it lasted for about another year and than i started getting a CEL with o2 sensor code.....chances are it was the original so i wasnt to hesitant about spending the $125 from subaru for a direct fit one......

the entire evap system helps remove vapors in fuel system...i believe the control/purge valve opens and closes the system as necessacary....there is a chance i am slightly wrong though....... -
my aunt has a 89 mustang with the 4 cyl and the same thing is happening (coolant surges from the overflow with the engine running)....i believe her HG has ruptered although she is not burning hardly any coolant......anyways when it comes to cooling system/ overheating problems i have heard of people starting off with the least expensive repair and working there way up until it is fixed (sounds like a shoddy mechanic to me, but also a good idea)...... coolant temp sensor? i am assuming you replace the Radiator cap when you replaced the radiator? which engine is it? Do you notice any external coolant leakage around the cylinder heads? did the cooling system operate correctly before you installed the parts?

i have had the trans out of my 96 lego 3 times and i pulled the trans for all of them......i just unbolted my exhaust system at the heads, unplugged the o2 sensors and undid the hangers and i just pulled the complete exhaust system still together off the car.....i think it is prety amazing on my car almost every nut and bolt with the exception of a few was a 14mm.......and you know every time i did it i improved little by little......the only awkward part for me was tilting the engine so far when i had to put the trans back in to get it in alignment into the pilot bearing......so i would recommend pulling the transmission instead of the engine.....but obviously either will work.....oh when i did my clutch for the first time my subaru had 179,500 miles on it and the flywheel was all heat scored so instead of machining it i just bought a new one off of http://www.autopartwarehouse.com ... the brand was sachs and it was only about i think $80.00..... im sure you know while you have it opened up to do the clutch....replace the pilot bearing release bearing release bearing clips (which hold the bearing onto the fork) rear main seal (though i dont think they are that prone to leaking) rear seperator plate (not to sure if the 2.5 L. have one or not or if its plastic or metal) pressure plate clutch disc machine or purchase new flywheel im sure there is something i missed and someone else will chime in......

coil overs! ......no just kidding but i have heard of alot of people using the KYB GR2 struts.......not to sure if they help with handling at all......but you could def. increase your handling if you wanted to lower it a little bit.......i bought these springs called intrax off of http://www.autopartswarehouse.com and they are considered lowering springs but they didnt lower my 96 legacy that much.......they werent to expensive either.....

yes i had that problem with the HLA's a while ago on my 96 ej22 and i just came out started her up and i heard them ticking away like extremely loud fuel injectors (it kind of sounded to me like a valve tap)...took her for a drive and added some marvels mystery oil to the oil filler neck and nothing has come back since.......i do believe the 1.8's have HLA's and if i can remember correctly they are significantly larger than the ones on the 2.2's......
