  1. yes as nipper said make sure you have fuel....after that...do you hear the fuel pump turning on for a few seconds when you turn the key to accessory?
  2. there is an triangular arrow on the crank sprocket....dont worry about that mark.....when your putting on your timing belt use the mark on the BACKSIDE of the crank sprocket.....DO NOT USE THE ARROW......... http://endwrench.com/images/pdfs/2.2SingleOverWin01.pdf
  3. the interior does look pretty good for the age and mileage of the car..... ill say you got a deal!
  4. there is a chance this is the default position for a realy....i would check all the cooling fan relays to see if they are stuck in the closed/energized position.....
  5. in my opinion you would have been better off to just swap in a 2.2 liter when the head gaskets blew.....but now that you have put out all that money it would be a waste......the way i figure it if you already spent all that money i would follow through the job until the end and have the rings replaced.......that is ALOT of oil to go through in that amount of time.....are you sure that the rings are the only problem?......do you see any blue smoke coming out of your exhaust? do you notice oil in your coolant or coolant in your oil?......
  6. look at the bright side....we do have the Legacy GT Spec B.....
  7. i think somebody put a thread out there a few days ago about this commercial....its pretty funny though.....
  8. 1996 Legacy L....just hit 192,000 a few days ago....not the original trans but as it sounds the engine is still going along.......and this car has had a very hard life thanks to the previous owner......
  9. your kidding! "subaru has taken over toyota as far as reliability is concerned"......i had no idea....thats pretty impressive...
  10. no unfortunately i never got around to it.....i ran into other problems that required my attention (i lost 4th gear)....unfortunately i used most of my money on another trans.......i will prob. be posting something if i do decide to do in in the future.....im just about to graduate from school and just landed a job at a Subaru dealership in Delaware so now i actually have time to make some real money......
  11. i might have mentioned this before but to see if the MAF is indeed faulty give her a tap with the butt end of a screwdriver with the engine running....if the cars bogs or stalls than the MAF is faulty......i also had a friend with a problem like this....it turned out to be his coil pack.......
  12. i see a fair number around my way....theres also a fair number of dealerships doing some pretty good business (despite gas prices)....
  13. yeah the post i read a few weeks ago was about i think an 01 or 03 forester and he said he didnt have to remove the dash......as long as the AC system is recovered/discharged by the shop i dont believe its that hard of a job.....i was digging around in mine the other day in my 96 legacy because my water drain was clogged....according to the haynes manual you can get the evaporator out without removing the dash.....its right behind the glove box (at least it is on mine)...if you do happen to tackle the job yourself make sure you install a new reciever/drier.....
  14. if its just the evaporator and not the heater core.....the dash may NOT have to comeout......what kind of car is it? what year? what engine?.....there was a thread not to long ago about someone who did it on a forester and the dash did NOT have to come out......take a look at the related threads down at the bottom of the page.....
  15. thanks for the help guys.....ive tried to do a little reading up on the SVX but i still have questions at the end......
  16. really.....i thought the EG33 was dual overhead cam......is the timing cover plastic or metal......sorry for all the questions i have just recently been reading up on the new tribeca motor.....
  17. does the SVX have a single timing belt or dual timing belts?.....just wondering because i was reading about the H6 3.0 and 3.6 and they are both dual timing chain...are they not?
  18. the trailing arm is at the rear of the car and is mounted from front to rear.......i believe i need to do mine on my 96 legacy......they arent that difficult to do.....i do believe you need to press them out though.....check out your haynes manual if you have on.....on mine i would say it doesnt looks like a wishbone...more like a regular dog bone....
  19. oh wow.....im glad you didnt decide to let them go a few more weeks or months who knows what could have happened......
  20. well i didnt notice any vibration from when i grabbed the spring or strut.....the whole thing is prob. just me being paranoid.... ....thanks for the help though frag
  21. the EG33 is the engine found in all the SVX's from 92-97 i believe....
  22. i believe it is a Gen. 2 but i could be wrong.....not sure if they have it or not but you could always check out http://www.cars101.com
  23. my knowledge of the SVX is limited but i should also prob. read some on http://www.cars101.com as posted above.....but i know the 3 main things in which SVX's have problems is transmission overheating, wheel bearings going bad, and they have a tendency to warp brake rotors rather quickly.....I also know the SVX was only available in an automatic and there were FWD and AWD versions.....i would say the majority of SVX's ive seen have been pretty good until around 100k than you start developing problems........ again like Jamal said....hit up cars101.com the info in like endless.....
  24. really?...i bought my cam seals and they didnt come with anything on them....i just lubed them up with a little oil before install....
