on this topic....i accidently overcharged my system in my 96 lego last week (thanks to a bad machine).....the air never even got slightly cold....recovered it again, pulled a vacuum, and charged her up and now she works great..... (i believe the ROT on the low side is 24-45 psi and high side is 100+ambient temp.)

in my opinion you would have been better off to just swap in a 2.2 liter when the head gaskets blew.....but now that you have put out all that money it would be a waste......the way i figure it if you already spent all that money i would follow through the job until the end and have the rings replaced.......that is ALOT of oil to go through in that amount of time.....are you sure that the rings are the only problem?......do you see any blue smoke coming out of your exhaust? do you notice oil in your coolant or coolant in your oil?......

no unfortunately i never got around to it.....i ran into other problems that required my attention (i lost 4th gear)....unfortunately i used most of my money on another trans.......i will prob. be posting something if i do decide to do in in the future.....im just about to graduate from school and just landed a job at a Subaru dealership in Delaware so now i actually have time to make some real money......

yeah the post i read a few weeks ago was about i think an 01 or 03 forester and he said he didnt have to remove the dash......as long as the AC system is recovered/discharged by the shop i dont believe its that hard of a job.....i was digging around in mine the other day in my 96 legacy because my water drain was clogged....according to the haynes manual you can get the evaporator out without removing the dash.....its right behind the glove box (at least it is on mine)...if you do happen to tackle the job yourself make sure you install a new reciever/drier.....

if its just the evaporator and not the heater core.....the dash may NOT have to comeout......what kind of car is it? what year? what engine?.....there was a thread not to long ago about someone who did it on a forester and the dash did NOT have to come out......take a look at the related threads down at the bottom of the page.....

the trailing arm is at the rear of the car and is mounted from front to rear.......i believe i need to do mine on my 96 legacy......they arent that difficult to do.....i do believe you need to press them out though.....check out your haynes manual if you have on.....on mine i would say it doesnt looks like a wishbone...more like a regular dog bone....
