  1. It couldn't hurt to pop on in there even if you don't have one from the factory..after all it is the air your breathing..lol.....the dealer charges OUTRAGEOUS prices for the cabin filters...they can be had on ebay for a couple dollars..I think the going current price for ours is like $37.00..absolutely crazy for a paper element...
  2. IF you have one, there should be a compartment right behind the glove box..the hundreds of Subaru cabin air filters Ive replaced Ive never seen another location in the vehicle for one other than there...
  3. Personally I've never seen a pitching stopper like wear out..Ive seen them break...All it really does is keep the engine/trans aligned...
  4. Good information nipper! I was always curious as to why the SVX trans. was prone to failure..
  5. +1 ^ ..I would be shaking down the front end first and doing a very through visual inspection...How do the tires look? inflated properly? Are the tires cupped/choppy at all? How new are they? How many miles are on the vehicle?
  6. Doesnt look to bad at all for the price... Automatic or Manual? Ive repaired transfer cases and such with JB weld before so it might do the trick on the filler pipe depending on where its leaking.. I would also want to take care of that cancer on the rear quarter panel before it spreads more..Good luck with the cleaning and repairs..
  7. I believe there are 4 screws holding the cluster trim in..remove them (phillips head) and the trim should pop off..than there might be another either 2 or 4 screws holding the cluster in..remove them and the i think 3 or 4 wiring harness connectors from the back of the cluster and the cluster can be pulled out and manuvered around the steering wheel..while your back there I would be replacing all bulbs...Ive pulled many a subaru cluster lol and for the life of me I without a pic I cant relate the year of the car as to how to do it..most of them vary only slighty....lol...
  8. Ive driven maybe half a dozen of them...extremely smooth in my opinion..we will see how they hold up down the road.... on the subject of the new boxer trannies..I cant wait until the WRX guys get a hold of the new 6 spd in the legacies and outbacks thinking its the same as the STI 6 spd. fore all it is an elongated 5spd with an extra gear..lol
  9. looks like you may have gotten a deal! Even if there are major problems with the car you can prob part the thing out for close to $400..
  10. + its a 3.6 not a 3.0 ...I'm glad someone else caught part of what he said.. EZ30 has been discontinued..
  11. +1^..However make sure the freeplay adjustment is correct otherwise you may be pulling the trans again in a few thousand miles to replace the clutch....I believe its 3/8 , at least thats the FP spec on my 96 Legacy...
  12. +1 ^ I dont think Im going to go the nitro methane route..First im going to do a pull with straight water and log it and see how the car reacts...than well see with the meth... Thanks again for all the advice and knowledge..
  13. Yes, the goal is get a little higher power, Personally I would kind of feel uncomfortable mixing nitro methane/gas fore Ive heard if you run alcohol or anything other than fuel through your fuel system it will slowly deteriorate all your rubber in the fuel lines/system... Yes, the engine is fully built though however I'm kind of reaching my threshold of the STI block ( at least where I would like to push it to ) fore I didn't have it sleeved. I figured I could grab another few PSI with the water/meth injection. I'm at 27 PSI now. I appreciate your help here.
  14. Thats what I was thinking..thanks man.. We shall see how the rest of the install goes.....Appreciate your insight as always..
  15. Rough Idle ..+1^ Also it prob wouldn't hurt to give the throttle body a good cleaning...

Dude that looks disgusting..In a really good way... One hell of a sleeper... Imagine being rolled on by an unsuspecting Subaru Forester...
  17. Hey thanks for the tips subaru360.. I will prob start out with just straight water and see what I have in terms of logging parameters...than move onto the 50/50 meth water..I just installed the pump and tank today..trying to make it look perfect lol I'm extremely meticulous..lol..I'm assuming your referring to the primary open loop fueling table? Ive flashed quite a bit with my WRX making small adjustments here and there however Ive never really messed with the timing tables...I will say If Ive learned anything from self tuning is adjust in small increments and log the change....Just throwing this out there..have you ever heard of/seen a meth/alky pump fail and the engine burns a valve or piston or something? I personally have never heard of this happening..just seeing what the likelyhood is? thanks again for the input man...
  18. Ah! that explains things..thank you...I'm just looking for something simple to install at the moment and water/meth injection from AEM seemed to be pretty straight forward..wires, lines, tank, nozzle, controller..I'm pretty mechanically inclined.. that is some serious thinking though I know a few guys who have actually put nitromethane through there alky system and had good results however I wouldnt try that yet..lol... One more question here while I have your brain to pick..lol.. So If I install this thing and decide to run straight distilled water do I even need a tune? I would think not? You mentioned The engine should be fine running 50/50 meth and water until I have time/coin to get a tune? or the knowledge to tune meth inj. myself ( still tweaking around with romraider).. Thanks again for your input man I'm sure you have more experience with this stuff than I...
  19. No prob. dude....I honestly have yet to do one... surprisingly..lol..I was going over the TSB which details the replacement of the spring and everything and It looks like it can be done in under a half hour..good luck..
  20. thanks for the input man, That gives me peace of mind, It sounds like you know what your talking about, yeah the motor couldnt be running better..fresh fully built EJ257 hybrid with 15,000 miles on it.....Thanks again man.. when you say m25 and m10 and such are you explaining the kinds of meth? I was told to use m1 only fore apparently others have oil in them which would wear out the seals in the pump..
  21. Well there is actually a TSB out for this sort of problem ( I work for Subaru..lol)..It requires replacing a spring and a few clips in the side of the P/S seat..I could be mistaken but I believe we charge around $55.00 for the parts and than around a half hour labor...I believe the bulletin is 17-10-05 If I remember correctly...
  22. Thanks for the opinions fellas..Just trying to get a broad spectrum of input from all over the web..
  23. Thanks man thats what I was thinking Or I may even start off with straight distilled water....I called AEM today and they assured me that even if I was untuned It wouldnt wash my cylinders..So thats kind of a relief..
