  1. :cornfuzz: How did U get the Dec.2003 issue all ready?!?
  2. There is a censor in the compressor it's self that tells it wheter or not there is freeon in the sys. If it dosn't sense there is enough then it will not let the cluch kick in. could be the problem. If U have the little square comp. then it is the other 2 wires coming out of the top just back from the cluch. There is another switch somwhere near the condensor/dryer, I'm not sure what it is for, but I know that if it is in the "open" possition the AC cluch will not kick on either. Hope all that helps;)
  3. Well, I put them in, and no fuse poping or hot wires. Boy do I have light now! It's not "get U a ticket" bright, so long as they are adjusted right and are on low beam. But if the adjustment was off I'd be in trouble:eek: The slight blue tint to the light helps out alot too. I may still up-grade the harness @ a later date, but for now it's working great;)
  4. Well, I will try them out tonight and see what hapens. Will be about a 15mn. drive, and then I will check the harness(if I don't pop a fuse 1st:eh: ) to see if it's hot, more so than usual.:cornfuzz:
  5. I think U got "Grmlins" in the oiling sys. just squrting oil into the exaust:eek: Better get 'em out!
  6. OK, I just got a set of 80W low/100W high bulbs for the turbo so I have some general Q's 1) Is there a headlight relay? If so where is it? 2) Any one els using these? Any problems with the wireing, switch ect.? I did the math, with the lights on High I will be pulling just under 19amps@11volts(siting @stop light in the dark with heater and raido on=11 volts) I wouldn't think that it would hurt any thing, but U never know:eh:
  7. From what all U have done, and the plugs are dry but still geting all that smoke, if it's not coming from the turbo I would say that U must have a VERY bad valve guide seal on 1 or all of the exaust valves. This would let the oil into the exaust port, but little if any into the cyl. So U would end up burning hella oil without fouling plugs or having low compression. And if I read your post right, U are getting oil into the EXAUST sys. somwhere before the turbo. To me it indicates that the heads wer either rump roast. wrong, or if they are simply good used units, that the last engine they wer on had a pluged cat and bunt up the seals on the exaust side only. Hope this helps, I know U been trying to fix this for a while now:-\
  8. Thanks guys! Now I can stop wasting time on a new skidplate, and get on to somthing more importand:-)
  9. Iv'e been planing on making a bigger skid plate for the front of the turbo, out of thicker stuff(aluminium or steel). But now that I look @ the stock pice, it looks stout! How well have the stock units held up for all U hard core off-roaders? And how well do they protect? (ie: are there things it should keep safe, but dosen't) Should I even bother with making a new one?
  10. Ya know......I been lookin' for the other 1/2 of my tire tred ever since that trip:drunk:
  11. Welded is good, but driver exp. is a biggie!! Brian and I went throug all the same stuff that weekend, but his welded dif snaped the 1st day. He STILL went EVERYWHERE that I did, he just had A LOT more finess than I did:drunk: (I don't think, I drink!) With a welded dif., and his driving skill.....Jeeps and LC's beware:brow: I never got to see the vid. of going up that wash,(the vid. dosen't show that it's a 30* up hill) that is WAY COOOOOOL!!!!!!!
  12. What type of oil was it? I usaly use MMO for that type of thing. If it was heavy oil(like 10W-30 or better) then, YES, the compresion will sky-rocket. The heavy oil will "hydralic" your gauge and it's not a true compression reading, espicaly if U got 2 much in there. Now if U used lighter oil,(MMO, WD40, 3-n-1, ect.) then I would start looking @ the rings.
  13. That thing is SOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait till U get it done, U are my hero!! What size tires are U gona run?
  14. It will IF U leave both of the rear axles in all the time. IF U take out one (1) of them when U are driving on the street it will NOT afect tire wear at all. And U can still use 4WD with that rear axle out ( bad road contitions ect.) U will just have 1 tire with power to it in the rear, but it WILL help. ( I know becaus I have done this 3 or 4 time allready) U see, the WHOLE 4x4 (trucks, jeeps ect.) comunity has been looking for a way to do this to there rigs for years. Now that rear selectable hubs are ava. for some rigs they can. But the selection is still limited, we can do this to ANY 4x4 Subaru. This is a BIG advantage!! All the traction of a spool, with out ANY of the side efects:banana: I tried to set up somthing like this on by old Bronco II for 2 years, but the money it would have taken!!! I would have been cheeper to get an ARB air locker. But on the Subaru it's FREE!!! all U have to do is weld the rear, and that's eazy. Brian, Zap, Adam, I know U guys know what a great set up this is, help me out here:-)
  15. WELD-IT:D WELD-IT:D WELD-IT:D LSD's are OK, but nothing beats the traction of a welded rear dif. and on the street U can pull 1 rear axle and U will never know it's welded. But when U get off road U will be a trail god, becaus even when U lift a tire U will still have traction. LSD's will give U some traction, even when U lift a tire, but U gota play with the gas and brake to get it and it's not 100% like a spool(welded rear dif.)
  16. HEY! Where is MY car going through there? Oh yeah, that's right, your camera couldn't cach me quick enough:clap:
  17. X-mass tree?!? Did I hear X-mass tree? I LIKE SNOW:banana: Keep us posted on the date thing Adam. I would love to go over the hill and see some new trails.
  18. Yeah, I will be gone this weekend till some time Sunday afternoon/evening. But if U do get this set up post the time/place ect. and if I get back in time I will come;)
  19. I'm in!! Day trip, or weekender? If it's a day trip I have ideas on location out of white city (Lake Creek area is fun) but out of J-vill U would have to be "the man" , I don't know that area all that well. ( aside from "Johns Peak")
  20. Adam, there is U, me, I bet 3eyedB would be interested, and the guys U found, my nephue, now all we need to do is find that wagon with 3 lights. (I think 3eye has a buddy too) A Justy with ATV's on it, why didn't I think of that!! That is TOO COOOL!!! We gota get every one together some time in Nov. or Dec. for a big snow run!
  21. That looks like a gravel spec tire! That's proly the reason for the $$$ I havent run THAT tire before, but I have run the Kuhmos before. They are a good tire for the money, they are no BFGoodrich, but a good tire none the less. That tire looks kick rump roast for Subaru, and it's a 13" no less!!!!
  22. I don't mind filling in newbies:drunk: (and yes, I have been drinking osifer!) 1) There is the XT6 swap (lower controll arms, struts, spindels, rotors hubs, and tie rods) this will give U a more comon 5 lug patern 2) Re-drill your hubs and drums( if so equipt) for the 6 lug patern-or-re drill 6 lug rims to fit the 4 lug soob. 3) Aluminium wheel adaptors=$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ U can get them, but they are around $80 EACH!!!!!! (more than I would spend on the wheels) 4) Pug rims(Peugot, or how ever the hell it's spelled) are a bolt on, and can be had in 14" and 15", alloy or steel. But! be sure to get LUG NUTS with them if U get the alloys. I prefer the 14" alloys my self, I think they look the best! On the re-drilling: Chevy rims have a smaller center hole than Toyota or Nissan rims, so they will take more work to fit, and the off set is all wrong. Toyota rims seem to be the generall consensis for the best fit( but I have not done it my self YET) Hope all this helps awnser your questions:wave:
  23. 11.5 PSI, open element air filter, RX7 by-pass valve, "Granger Valve" boost controller, 2" catless down pipe into 2" glass pack exaust. 5spd, lightend fly wheel. I would run 13 PSI, but I blow off too many vac. lines as it is. But I did blow the doors off a '65 Mustang fast back w/HI-PO 289CID V8 this last week end:eek: :headbang:
  24. SPFI? MPFI? Carb? What type of AFM are U working with? If U don't know post a pic of the curent air intake. I made one for my turbo out of some steel, a wrecking yard rubber elbow and a UNI foam air filter element.
  25. I would start with the tune up, fule filters, and clean the carb. U never know what might turn up while doing this, U may stumble on to an obvious problem in the prosess.
