  1. yeah that's what I was thinking. I guess I will add a timing belt to the list as well. Any thoughts on the gasket kit I linked to? It says OEM so I think it's the right one. Honestly if I had a 2.2 that would swap in and was nice and clean and had dual port exhaust I would swap that in, nut I don't so I will just reseal the 2.5
  2. So pretty soon I will be getting taxes back and I figure it's a great opportunity to do my head gaskets on my 2000 RS! So I wanted to know exactly what I needed to do the job. I have done a couple before but it was a while ago and I want to be prepared! Will this gasket set work?http://replacement.subautoparts.com/parts/subautoparts/wizard.jsp?year=2000&make=SU&model=IMP-4WD2.5-001&category=A&part=Cylinder%20Head%20Gasket%20Set&returnurl=null&dp=false I already have my timing belt, and water pump, but I got my timing belt from ebay. Should I trust it to be right and work or should I get another? Also, should I have anything done to my heads before they go back on? Any input would be great! Thanks
  3. a 1998 GT turbo? Is that a factory motor? I have never heard of one. anyways, the head gaskets are the biggest concern but besides that look at the body, and any wear items, struts, brakes, check all fluids to make sure they look ok and are topped off etc.

with 2" of lift they will fit without trimming, but yes with trimming you can get them to fit. I would advise getting a lift though

people have used atv tires before but they put them on 14" rims and you have to get peugeot rims to get 14 or 15" rims that bolt on. Other than that you gotta go the 6 lug route

no. unless you have a justy. but if it has a 13 inch rim stock than that's the smallest you can fit.
  7. Brian is a good guy and has gone out of his way to help me even though we live thousands of miles away, he is brutally honest and has strong opinions but I have never taken anything from it and I advise you to do the same, he means no harm, he just likes to poke!
  8. I'm not completely sure about that. I have not worked on any of the newer turbo stuff and very few old turbo stuff
  9. yeah! Isn't it pretty! I was just trying to make sure they made the trip ok!, I mean it was from one side of the country to the other!!
  10. Did you get the chrome molding and stuff put on yet?
  11. I have been told to remove the oil screens on the turbo. They evidently get clogged and don't allow for good oil circulation.
  12. yeah me too. I wonder if the block or the heads have more meat to them or something. But I have heard over and over now that the turbo 2.5's are more reliable than the N/A
  13. I bet it wasn't an XT. That would be the first turbo model to have leaky HG's that I've heard of
  14. The best bet is to put a 2.2 in there. There have been lots of people that have done it! Pretty straight forward swap
  15. I agree, I've always wanted a sedan all lifted with big tires! It looks good!!
  16. Congrats!!!!! Post some video when you can!! And finished product pictures.
  17. The reason I said throw out bearing is because that is the noise that I had in my Brat. After I replaced the clutch and throwout bearing it stopped.
  18. I've heard of a couple but I am part of a forum here in Maine, and there are quite a few people that have them and love them and have never had any problems with them! No headgasket problems at all like the N/A versions and no motor or turbo problems
  19. yeah I think it looks good! Yeah it might be better with a little lift and some bigger tires but I still think it looks Damn nice!! I can only dream of having a Brat that clean!
  20. yeah but he has to respond to people trying to get a hold of him
  21. Well I am talking about the new axles. An again I have never seen one go for that much! But they are very strong and very long lasting. The first few I installed were several years ago and no problems at all. Even the boots stay intact. And the joints themselves actually look beefier. Now the reman ones they sell are complete junk! And unfortunately that's all I can get for mt Brat. I was never able to get a hold of anyone at MWE as well.
  22. Hmmm, I have never seen Max drive for that much, I guess your local NAPA is making some money on those!
  23. go to NAPA and get the MAX drive axles. They are very strong and I have not seen one fail yet!!
  24. Yup of course you can!! You could do it along the same lines as the way you lift the older ones
  25. I'd be up for something like that!! I'd love to do a cruise with a whole bunch of Subarus!!!
