  1. How did you fit the TD04 in with a Non-Spyder Intake Manifold???? I tried and couldn't plumb the intake due to the fact that the turbo was so close to the intake manifold!!!! Please tell as my TD04 and TMIC have been sitting for months because of this while I save up for a custom header to bring the turbo UP.
  2. Correct. You still do need the other one for COLD fast idle unless you live in a place where its allways warm year round.
  3. Here a common gas milage problems with the EA82-T's : Header Exhaust Leaks right at the heads (this eats lots of gas) PCV Valve clogged (fouls plugs and causes engine to run rough and burn more gas) O2 Sensor out of specs (makes car run richer than normal) Coolant Temp Sensor (makes car allways run richer than normal) After I changed my Coolant Temp Sensor I too had 18mpg and I'm now getting 25-27mpg or more depending on how I drive, but I also have a blueprinted and balanced engine with ported heads and 3-angle valve job which helps. I just changed my O2 sensor last week and I'm starting to creap up to the 30mpg mark
  4. There are 2 fast idle devices on MPFI EA82's There is one on top of the termostat housing that controls COLD FAST IDLE which idles the car up when cold to warm it up faster and make it drivable in cold weather. Then there is a 1 wire unit right on the throttle body that raises the WARM IDLE when the A/C compressor kicks on to compensate for the drag it puts on the engine.
  5. My D/R is the same way! I hate it somtimes, I have to go from 1st to 2nd JUST right if I'm doing a WOT run. I could gain so much ground if I could just jam it in 2nd faster.
  6. Yeah that sounds about right.... I work at the subaru dealer in portland, and our policy on KEY's made by VIN # is anything older than like 90 or so we can't cut one for by the VIN # since all KEY Numbers are stored in Subaru of America's Dealer Website that has a database of all subaru's sold at dealers from 90 and up usually, anything that is older has allready been purged or deleted. So they are prolly not lying to you, but if you allready have the KEY# for your car then its pretty easy at that point, since they have to do is punch in that # into thier key machine and it will cut it. Be prepared to have your REGISTRATION ready to present to them because that is our policy at my dealer for Custom KEY's made by VIN#.
  7. That oil pressure at that RPM is scary low!!!! You better look at that soon and check it out, at 5000rpm I'm pumping around 50-55psi of oil pressure.....
  8. Man talk about bad luck, If you all remember I ran a buddy from work the other night with my GL and I just found out today that on the same night his WRX got stollen right out of the Movie Theatre Parking lot!!! I really feel bad for him right now since it only had 5000miles on it and he just got a nice new custom painted wing on it, bunch of mods, and was just starting to get it where he wanted it. He looked really pale today, and they haven't found it yet. He had the factory subaru alarm system but we all know how crappy those are:rolleyes: This is why I have the best alarms in both my cars with starter, fuel pump and ECU kills with relays that I installed myself in such a way as to make it nearly impossible to find or tamper with. If you guys see a 2005 Silver WRX with a Silver Painted Wing that sits real low with a loud exhaust, let me know, we're all looking for it since its a 1 of a kind wing. Makes me sick, $(#*$ theafs!
  9. As I was at work today I rememberd this and was just going to post about that but looks like you figured it out!!! GJ
  10. Maybe you missed the part where I said it was done in a deserted area with no other cars around...
  11. Yeah I didn't use any sealant on my HG's either but they were OEM SOA...
  12. Did you check the bypass hose on the water pump, mine had a hairline crack and it only leaked when revved
  13. Yes this is completly normal, you have to remember when torqued down you are looking at the clutch assembly in FULL LOCK mode, once the clutch fingers get pushed beyound that point it RELEASES. The only thing I would be concerned about is the fact that you said some fingers were more flat that others, this would not be a good thing, make sure the clutch is installed using an alignment tool and go around the bolts of the PP with a Torque wrench 3 or 4 times to insure proper specs.
  14. I'll keep you all posted, it will prolly be at PIR since I would like to film it and get some timeslips and make some passes to see what I can really do.
  15. Well I finally got to run a guy from work today on the way home, I've been trying to get him to run me ever since I got my GL up and running again with the rebuild. He's got a 2005 WRX Sedan 5-speed with AEM Cold Air Intake, Perrin Devoirced Catless Turbo Downpipe, 3-inch Perrin Stanless polished Exhaust, Catless Turbo Uppipe, and a manual boost controller set around 17psi. We found a deserted road with no one around out in the boonies: The roads were really wet when we ran, we both lined up and on GREEN I dumped the clutch at 4000rpm in 4WD HIGH, On the launch I was just spinning the tires like crazy but still managed to stay EVEN with him all the way through 1st gear, then I hit 2nd and the race was on Half way through 2nd he started pulling away, end of 2nd he had me by about 1/2half a car, then I hit 3rd and he walked away by about 2 cars, we shut it down at that point. We then ran again from a 40mph roll but I miss shifted and he got me good that time. All in all I'm really happy with the results and he was really impressed that I could hang with him with my Stock Turbo@10psi, stock intake, stock exhaust. I can't wait until I get the TD04 in with the TMIC Then its on! If it was dry I could have done much better since I could not get traction at all for the first 60feet or so.
  16. Sorry no pics at the moment, I'll see if I can bring my camera to work and dig through the scrap pyle and find some diffs for ya.
  17. I've had both apart at work and I would say no. There are lots of differences throughout the design of both units, too much fabrication would be required to make it work.
  18. What RPM are you launching at? 4WD Launch I assume? Also maybe we can meet up and check each others cars out since I'm in portland too, I was thinking of going to PIR this weekend....
  19. I just replaced both front ball joints with lifetime warranty autozone's and they were only like $16/each. No reason to try and cut corners on a very important safety item like ball joints on an older car
  20. I dont even know which 5-speed tranny would fit in an SVX, to this day I have never even seen a 5-speed SVX... Did they ever make em in the US?
  21. Yeah everyone makes fun of my subaru until they hear it and see it going down the street then they are like One day I pulled into Baxter Auto Parts haulin' rump roast and they were like "WHOLY CRAP DID YOU SWAP A WRX ENGINE INTO THAT?" I just smiled and said nope EA82-T and they were like I love drivin it around, it's funny when I roll up on a nice sports car and try to get them to run they just look over at me and laugh, then when I take off they just can't beleave it
  22. Wow what a difference the swap has made on my GL-10, I can honestly say it has improved my performance by about 50%!!! Last night me and about 6 other cars went out to a very quiet area near Marine Drive's industrial areas, and set up a drag strip that was a little over a 1/4mile long and went at it. Cars Racing : 1. 2000 Civic Hatchback 5-speed w/D16 Engine & D15 Head, Intake, Exhaust, Headers 2. 1990 Honda Prelude 2.0si 5-speed with Intake and Exhaust 3. 1987 Mitsubishi Codia Turbo 5-speed STOCK 4. 1987 Subaru GL-10 4WD Sedan w/5-speed D/R 3.90gears conversion (ME) Stock Turbo@9psi The civic was a close race but I beat him by about 2 cars, the prelude I beat by 4 cars, and the codia which raced me 3 times lost consistantly by 3 cars I'm so happy with the car right now its running perfect! I can't wait to get it on the drag strip and dyno to get some numbers, I still have the TD04-13g and WRX TMIC waiting to be installed when I get some funds I'll be posting some videos soon of the car in action everyone to see. I also took a guy from work who owns a nice SVX w/Shift Kit for a ride in my suubie since he has been following my rebuild and he was like "ITS NOT A LOYALE ANYMORE!" LOL He was really impressed and wants to run his SVX against me Can't wait for that one as the trash talking has allready began.
  23. It's not a computer, whereas it doesnt run Microsoft Windows OS or anything, but it does have inputs that you can hook a laptop or computer in the trunk to so you can use it to tune MS I have a playstation 2 with 120gb hard drive under the seat hooked up to it as well as a Pioneer 6 disc cd changer, works great I can't wait until I can get the NAVIGATION addon unit for it, then I'll actually be able to find my way around untraveled roads that I allways find myself on
  24. It's a Pioneer AVH-P6600DVD It's a Multimedia Center with 6.5inch fully motorized monitor, plays DVD movies, VCD Movies, Mp3 CD's, CDA CD's, Radio, XM, you name it, it does it
