  1. Think I'm going to get a hold of a welder and some sheet steel when i get home from working out of town. I've got an idea in my head of building a storage box that would bolt down using the spare tire holder, and have a handle so you could take it with you around/under the car.
  2. And not to pimp my stuff for sale here in a tech forum, but I'm going to have some 14" pugs for sale here before too long, if you're interested.
  3. Forgive my ignorance, but where does a guy get a set of those?
  4. I recall seeing the number 1.5" and 2"
  5. Those will lower the front, and I have some spare coils for the rear and some adjustable sleeves that you could pick up.
  6. Hayden, Gunnar's over at the south end of Commerce can get you the 2wd XT front struts for like $50/Side
  7. You misunderstood me. The "model year" for auto manufacturers begins in August of the previous year. So all cars with manufacture dates of 8/X-7/X+1 would be sold as model year X+1 cars. Get it?
  8. Make sure to add some extra varnish/clear coat to your shovel handle, especially where you drilled the holes or it will rot out on you in a hurry.
  9. Wait, you're just now discovering when the model year begins for ALL auto manufacturers?
  10. Is your car 4wd or 2wd? 4 or 6 cylinder?
  11. Well, at least it's not that heavy right?
  12. I was simply commenting on the fact that I know for a fact that I could build a small sheetmetal box/container that could go in that area and hold much more, but the container itself would be lighter.
  13. also, if you could find spec sheets or at least accurate, detailed information on some of the other common factory six lug wheels used, that would be extremely helpful to someone who wants to go shopping for their wheels at the JY
  14. Not an acceptable trade off between weight I can't use and the limited storage it offers me.
  15. Also dave, have you noticed any perceptible difference in handling from moving the weight of the battery off of the corner and closer to the center of the car?
  16. I now have engine envy Dave, thanks for sharing. I like everything I'm seeing/hearing so far, although my personal preferences don't get along with the flipping the donut idea. If I don't need/can't use it, I'm not going to carry it around with me.
  17. A bit of information that should be included with the first post: A transfer punch will easily and inexpensively transfer the center of the hole to the proper point on the wheel hub. Like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Individual-Spotter-Transfer-Punch-Spellmaco/dp/B002SLHC6O
  18. Edit, double posted 16 minutes apart somehow...
  19. My 1985 owners manual only lists a sedan and wagon. And are you positive that the "rack" of the windshield is different? I know the wheelbase is the same between the coupe and the wagon.
  20. Doesn't look to me like the intercooler is actually even piped into anything.
  21. I understand that this, as well as any other thread, never remains solely about the original subject but it's STILL mostly about it.
  22. It is '86, mirror is mounted to window instead of door like '85.
  23. So I was checking the oil while filling my wagon today, and a thought occurred to me.... WTF does everybody do with the spare tire area after converting to a larger wheel/tire combo that won't fit? I was pondering the possibility of making a little rack to hold a few quarts of motor oil and maybe some other fluids. So, lets hear/see your ideas!
  24. If it IS posted as a sticky, I would suggest a change to a different, more specific title. Something like: 6-Lug Trailer Wheels on EA Series Cars. I would also Compile the critical information all into the first post. Definitions, Safety bead info, Drilling wheels/hubs info/links, etc.
  25. I do already have the axles in my possession. I might end up looking into a cross fit part that will both fit in the knuckle and not wear prematurely from the axle. Thanks for bringing that up though.
