  1. yea i took them off one by one, took a while. some could hardly move any air and others you could see were blocked off and it took quite a bit of pressure to blow it free and then it blew big chunks.
  2. its about 35 miles away and so far the only things wrong are as follows. rear main leak passenger exhaust header ppe leak a/c doesent blow cold but works (componentents engage) slight surging while accelerating overall running better when the tank is more full. the last 2 i have been working on and i am confused/running out of ideas. today i cleared out PCV lines and other intake lines and some were completely blocked off and it helps some, computers re adjusting. i re seated all the intake and made sure there werent cracked boots and sealed them up good and i still get slight surging when i accelerate. i'm thinkin its probally just a worn out turbo, doesent having a bit of shaft play cause such symptoms? the sensors test out fine the other thing is the car will start easier and run a little smoother with a gastank thats more full than empty. i havent pursued this much but chould a regulator be worn out or a pump worn out? i'm not sure where to start on this one, i guess it could contribute to the surging if its nnot getting enough fuel. when i re did the ignition timing i gained some power and the pinging stopped and the surging mellowed but its still there
  3. alright that pic helps, it is a big VFD, well that sucks because they can go wrong so many different ways.... since they are big they are a little more prone to cracking letting the gas out, the glowing parts can short put or break connections and the voltage regulator was probally being taxed from the factory and let out. some one said the clocks go bad from a loose solder point in the assembly but all the clocks i have taken out i popped the back off of and the resistor thats taking the brunt of the juice comming in is always fried to a crisp. they may work but i dont bother. and this is on the tiny clock, imagine that big display, even if they are broken up into groups they are still pretty big.
  4. i havent seen one of these digi dashes lit up, is it a VFD like the clock is in the rest of them? green glowing stuff VFD = Vaccum floresent display
  5. i've noticed with the single glassw lens headlights, even the mounts that come with those can be different. i'm talking about the mount for the grille, the mount to the car should be the same with all single lens headlights but i am not sure if its the same as a 4 eyes setup
  6. buy it before i do, its not that far away from me
  7. holy crap i spelled engines with an " i ". i need to not stay up so late. got any under hood pics?
  8. i think it says in the Haynes manual, it doesent in the chiltons, atleast my chiltons. although i forget this some times, is this a MAF thats a round tube with out much in it or is it an AFM with a flappy thingy in it?
  9. test the maf i doubt they like to get wet like that
  10. hmm funky, kinda neat but i dont know if i would trust the ingines in them, pugeot is further down on the list than this EA82T. i am sure every reigon has their own deal though, personally i like the volvos that show up from time to time.
  11. yea probally the pump seals, thats what fixed mine. my pressure didnt fluctuate though, i might get a j-yard sending unit and see if it fluctuates still. there are 3 seals in the pump, replace em all. if those seals and a sending unit in and it still flucuates i might see about getting a new pump 50k on a rebulit i doubt the cam seals are going to be bad
  12. my sending unit read super high before it died, it had been replced once before and had a HUGE bulb thing on it instead of the usual little can. dont be suppried if one day it doesent read any thing, i grabbed a few from the junk yard. i suggest go gettin one or 2
  13. ...your kidding thats like what? 6 inches more? if that
  14. holy crap man you can type alot! any way, Caramanos, this HID kit was it an universal kit or was it a set up from another car?
  15. cars, planes and boats....when are we going to see an EA powered train? thats all thats left right?
  16. a little bit of heat helps with getting it off, softens the black goo. i'm not talkin major heat, just ain the back of the car so its in the sun for a bit and warm
  17. yea i have seen quite a few with tons of miles on them, its definitly not the best engine but its far from the worst. and every old car seems to have a major problem or 2. i think its just a fact that people dont take care of them
  18. hmm i wonder if its just different wiring or a different signal or if the AFM doesent contain an air temp sensor... i'll have to check the wiring diagram. my MAF isnt toast but they dont like me for some reason, i replaced 2 in my maxima, no AFMs have been replaced for failure, replaced for performance...
  19. ok so i noticed that some of these cars have MAFs and some have AFMs. i am just curious, if for instance the MAF in my car dies and all i can find in the J-Yard for a quick fix are AFMs will they work? and i assume like with most cars turbo and N/A MAF/AFM are different on these or are they the same?
  20. so basicly your saying your car is running quieter and in the lower RPMs it takes a while to accelerate and then at a certian point it just takes off? mine does that, i dont know if its normal though. just letting you know your not the only one
  21. yea it still sounds like its trying to diesel. i agree with 2.7 turbo though, start with the cheap stuff like that and work your way up if it doesent go away. mabe run a tank of premium and see too....but i do know how much premium is getting to be so....i would completely understand if that was something you wouldnt want to do.
