  1. It's a negatively switched system, so there isn't a ground to the body. So as Miles said, it goes through the switch.
  2. I find the obs seats really comfy. Nice bolsters and good support.
  3. The bolts are all the same, just 10mm bolts or something. All I did was cut the brackets off the loyale seats and weld them to the EJ seats. Used the stock holes in the car and everything. I actually bolted the brackets into the car, set the seat on the brackets and tack welded it in place. Then pulled it back out and fully welded it.
  4. Your cable is too tight. Loosen it at the clutch fork. There should be some free play in the fork.
  5. I just cut the mounting brackets off both seats and welded the GL ones to the legacy seats.
  6. 99 RS and fozzy should have the engine you're looking for too.
  7. I got 02 OBS seats free. It took some cutting and welding to make them fit. in all, it wasn't a bad job if you can weld.
  8. Thought about washing my car, but my driveway is a long mudfest to a back road that's disgusting. So it isn't really worth it.
  9. Don't ea82s always run like lawn mowers....? If your timing is off it won't run right, I've been through that.
  10. I played around and found out what that switch did on my parent's subaru long before I could drive. But I re-discovered it the first time I took out my gauge cluster. The next morning I went to my car to drive to class, and my battery was not only dead. But frozen and bulged out.... Took it inside to warm up and it was alright...
  11. I was up in canada a few weeks ago and couldn't believe how expensive gas was!!
  12. I put hella 500's on my GL on friday, they look good and put out some light!!!
  13. Hair drier? I've used one in the garage a few times... my sister caught me in the garage with it once though. Oh boy did I get a mouthful from that one
  14. In Maine old subies are near impossible to find. There may be a loyale wagon on craigslist from time to time. But never much. And not usually in good condition. They all rusted out up here.
  15. VIN listings can be confusing sometimes though. Say after they switched to phase2 they had some phase1 stuff left over, they could put that in the car. And it would be recorded in the computer for dealers and whatnot that VIN has phase1 parts. Even if it's in the middle of phase2 production season. I've never heard anything about 99 legacys having the phase2 ej25. I've just heard mixed chatter about some having phase2 ej22
  16. 90C is about 195F. A little warm, but feasible if it's been sitting and idling. Wouldn't worry about that. For the accelerator cable I've always just adjusted it tighter and tighter until it just started to open the throttle plate, then back the nut off till the plate closed. Then back it off another turn just to make sure it doesn't hold the throttle open... Whether that's correct or not, it's worked on a few different cars just fine. High idle could be a vacuum leak. Could also be a sticky IACV. Check for leaks and clean the IACV. That's what it was on my car.
  17. I'm interested as well if your 2.2 is a phase1 or 2. I've heard people say either way... Phase2 if the plugs go through the valve covers. I know in my family's 99 legacy outback it has the ej25D, so phase1.
  18. I'm creeping up on 230k in my 98 LGT
  19. If you strip a plug it isn't the end of the world. You can get thread inserts for spark plugs. On the ea81 the plugs come right out into plain view, you can see the threads, makes it very easy to do thread inserts I would think. I've never done this on an ea, but have on an ej22, the plugs are a few inches down in a hole and is a little difficult/scary...
  20. ^^ I'm glad you don't worry about running around on worn out/iffy timing setup. I've been very, very stranded by it. Whether it can be done in car or not doesn't matter when it's dark and raining and you're on the side of the road 80 miles from home in the middle of nowhere. In regards to bolts stripping out and timing belts. The bolt that holds the tensioner to the bracket on the block. I've had that hole strip twice now on me. I PB blastered one from the back side and let it sit, still stripped. I don't get it... I usually just have the machine shop down the road helicoil it to 3/8th.
