rebuild
You should just give me the car. Then you will have to worry no more Yeah man, I'm with everyone else. Go over the car, change oil, add MMO, Replace Plugs, wire, cap, rotor, blah blah blah. All that stuff. Just spend some quality time with it. You will probally not see more than 20mpg with them thar Swampers. It's part of the trade off for looking cool You could bring the car down to Chehalis/Napavine, and i'll help you go through it in my garage. -Caleb

Today's safety tip of the day, today, OR: The Quality Workboot Thread
For good boots you gotta pay the price. For what you're doing bill, you need good boots. period, your feet will thank you. Bite the bullet and spend the $$... My Hoffman Line boots were 300 Bucks. I thought good lord! Then 6-8 hrs a day in climbing hooks....worth every penny. Moral of the story...Good boots are priceless.

Annual Hatch Patrol Xmas Tree run
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone, I had a good time. Although we Bill, ScoobyWagon, Bill's Friend, and myself, spent the better part of the morning trying to get help to the lost/stuck people we heard on the CB. It was not all bad, the people were found and we were busy getting help, so if was fun. The road up was slick as snot and proved to remove vehicles from it's surface at the slightest driving mistake or over confidence manuver. We went and played a bit, Zap was tearing up the Mtn. when he finally got in too deep up snow. We almost made it to the unimogs! Later A few up us headed back up the trail, where myself and a impreza both got burried in the hard frozen snow. That pretty much ended the exploring for us. After some fuse/heat issues I was able to get warm again and cruize down to 'Base Camp' No I didn't get a tree or spend alot a time at 'Base Camp' But everyone was friendly and welcoming. Lots of smiles and general good time. Thanks Qman, You put on a good trip.

Looking for a good lift
I did my lift from BOSS in a few hours. I was by myself, with no help. At that point in my life, I had never had a pair of struts out of a car. It's fairly straightforward. When I did have questions I just called Bill, and he answered them for me. I have a 2" lift and you can run 27" tires with some hammer work in the inner fenderwells if you choose to go that big. I'm staying around the 25.5"-26" range. My lift was the no frills easyiest lift at $100 bucks. I dunno if thats still the going rate. You could PM him and ask. (The Beast I Drive) is his name here.

Replaced torn boot today, and loaded it down for the Tree Run!!! (I need a computer at home so I can upload photos) :-p Also tracked down my coolant leak, turned out to be a simple loose hose clamp. Changed oil and gave her a dose of MMO, checked a filled all fluids as necesary. Installed new CB Antenna Thanks about it..nothing fancy. -Caleb

The: Go Anywhere Soob
I don't see why the track for the small pickups and SUV's would not work (Mattracks) the ATV ones would be too weak IMO. If a guy were to spend the money, why not spend it once and get tracks that are for a bigger vehicle and not a smaller one. They would just last much longer. On another rant. You should get Bill's (the beast) hatch. It's a perfect starting platform for your idea -Caleb

considering a split boot
Dude I replaced my boot this morning, didn't take that long. Pull the axle, and pull the retaining ring on the DOJ, slid the cup off...Grab a punch hit the cage remove six bearings one at a time. Remove C-clip from end of axle at splines. Tap off star looking thingie. Slide off old boot. Slide on new boot and clamp (or use zip ties) slide on star thingie replace C-clip. Reinstall cage (like how is was not backward) tap bearings in from windows in cage. Slide on Cup (add greese supplied), Put Retaining ring back in. Slide on boot and secure. reinstall axle. Done!
