  1. It also comes down to how long are you willing to have the car sit around in the yard or drive. I have parted out a few cars but thankfully I have plenty of property to just put them in the back corner and they are not an eye sore. You have to remember, it could take 2 weeks or 2 months to part a car out. Just some food for thought!
  2. Does anyone know why Subaru hasnt done a dual range gearbox though lately in mass production? I'm just curious about that.
  3. SUCCESS!! The thread worked! She has agreed to go and look at a few Forresters tommorow with me! Who knows, we may have another new USMB member soon! Woo Hoo!
  4. Well folks, I have good news and bad. I finally found a good job after 2 years of searching but, it requires that I now work weekends starting this weekend. I have to cancel the BBQ. But hey, I am extremely glad to finally have a good 9-5 job to work and start bringing home a paycheck again. Hope everyone isnt too bummed. Another thing is that now I wont be able to make WCSS either. But what can I say, I now have a job.
  5. Whoa! Gary has it down to a science! Thats what I call experience!
  6. Welcome to the board D! Lots of great folks here to help out with any questions you may have! Just a quick tip, get familiar with the search options and also learn where to post your threads. Very important things to know. Go ahead and re-post your questions in the EA82 section. Its under the "General tech Questions" and then Older Gen Subarus. Again welcome and hang out a while!
  7. Thats exactly what I am trying to tell her Twitch! Maybe I will have her read this thread!
  8. I am sure glad I was keeping up on this post! I have learned some valuable lessons for the future for when I do an auto tranny swap or replace.
  9. I agree with Mark. I would lean more towards the thermostat being the issue with what it sounds like.
  10. Hey B, welcome! Looks like you have some great plans! Make sure to use the search option and get familiar with it as it can help you out big time through your project. Lots of great folks here that can help you out! Again, welcome to the USMB family!!
  11. I want a Baja! Think Subaru will ever subtract 2 doors from it and make a new gen Brat??????
  12. That was probably Jesse's old rig. The kid lives here in Yelm. Did it have tinted windows with stickers all over it?
  13. This is pretty much the look I will be going for. Me likey alot!
  14. Nice find! Would love to find something like that to work on!
  15. A fleet of cars that any man could be proud of! Awesome!
  16. Thanks for the info! I am still trying to talk her into a Forrester but she is dead set on a Jeep. Maybe the info about the tranny will help. lol
  17. Most likely YES. Welcome aboard!
  18. So the auto trannies are weak or they just have no guts to them??
  19. Hey everyone, quick questions to the Jeepers here. My sister is looking at a 1996 Jeep Cherokee to buy. Its the regular Cherokee, not the grand. Specs are: 4.0L High Output I-6, Automatic, 2WD, 125,000 miles, runs and drives very good, everything seems tight. Any issues with reliability on these? Any known quirks they have to watch for? Safe? I told her I would ask on here to see if its a good buy or something to stay away from. I have no experience in them. Thanks in advance!
  20. They wouldnt give you a carfax??? Hmmmmm.......Interesting. Like Olnick said, use the nice list you have now to barter with the price...alot! They will go back and forth saying that THEIR mechanic looked and the car has no issues. Typical dealer games. Dont play them, let them know what you are willing to pay or you will walk. I dont know how many times the dealer wouldnt go down, I made my offer and walked away. Everytime they were running after me before I even made it back to my car saying they will deal! lol. Be patient and work them.
  21. Agree with Rooster. This happened to me in another vehicle of mine. When the RPMs come down your refringerant isnt being processed through as fast because the compressor pulley isnt moving as fast. Go get it recharged and you should be good to go.
  22. Going to be a blast! #37 here
  23. Agree with Olnick, make sure to get some pics up! Congrats on your new Legacy and look forward to seeing your progress!
