Not yet LP, Rough tuned until I get some more retard adjustment in the disty. Its running cooler by a bit, (not when sittting in trafic) About 10% more thirsty I estimate. More torque than I have ever felt in a subaru before. Lots of little things to finish up yet. Labour of love.

There is the worlds biggest resource of Subaru conversion info - RIGHT HERE! THOUSANDS of helpfull people Go for it man, If it hasn't been done before, try. The parts and bits are so cheap. We will be pulling for you if it is new ground you are breaking. It would be a sweet little result.

Welcome aboard BowHunter, You obviously have excuisite taste in vehicles. You will find a great deal of info here, take your time to read some past posts. Amazing stuff happening to old Brats. Cheers, Matt

Ring Paul at subareck in Adelaide and he will find you a nice coupe dash with a tacho and oil pressure gauge.....just like he did for me. Then you just have to plug and play. And......intermittant wipers!

Who cares, I could have gone out and had a custom unit made by sprintex or Powerdyne, or, or, or, or........ As it stands there is not one component in the Wonder Brumby that is over $800 Australian to replace. It is all factory parts from one manufacturer or another. NO RICE. NO BLING BLING It was an exersice in design, fabrication, lateral thought and improvisation. Any fool can buy a WRX motor. We Made something fit without cutting crossmembers or frame rails. And if the blower eats it, I can swap the trottle bodies with 4 bolts and put on the old fan belt. Voilla, Normally aspirated.

Think about fuel pressures then, common rail diesels run 1000s of psi. Gas runs at its liquification pressure, whatever that is. Not much according to my gas BBQ. I would suggest 400 - 500 psi can anyone confirm any figures here?? I have another 220km under the belt and it runs and runs and runs. All down low, it may well even run out of pufff atthe very top of the revs, its made for a 2000cc and I am sucking 2200cc each rev. But who cares, I will get as much as I can when its finally tuned by someone who knows what they are doing. I amazed, no flat out impressed an Sti owner yesterday. He drove it and could not stop raving about it. Drooled on my damn seats. (bear in mind he has driven the car through its 3 motors, ea81, ea81 twin carb, NA EJ22 and now blown EJ22) A good mate. He now is looking for a "Kit" to say bye bye to his boost lag. On an 06 STI! Its catching.

On any fuel injected car so I gather, I am doing further research at the moment. It takes heated collars on the injectors to stop them freezing, but it eliminates the need for a gas condensor, allowing high pressure gas to be injected right into the combustion chamber.

I was advised to go this way, he knows WAY WAY more than me, I am not too proud to take advice. It works. Mate, I have 2 x 375cc injectors briased into the inlet tube which I am going to open at WOT to inject a "special blend" of very cool gas. Plus, down the track- or down the gravel road, I also have the option of using the 4 factory injectors (which are lying dormant and waiting) for adding more gas. Just a mere switching system away. Known practice here to add LPG through slightly modified factory injection systems. But...how fast do I really want to go???

220 kms under the belt now. It idles, I haven't been nasty to it yet it - bagged up all four 225's on the wet road last night "accidently". How many Brumbys do you know that can go 1st, 3rd, 5th at 1/2 throttle! My face hurts from grinning for two days. 130km = 27 litres of gas. Tuned at its roughest by me.

Scum of the earth strike again

That was a ford falcon, XB or XC. "Its my snake, I trained it, I am going to eat it!" Thats what you need, a nasty big tiger snake. Let him sleep in the car every night. Or a tasmanian devil, they would only find his boots heels and his belt buckle, the rest is edible. -
Got it, had a bit on. Go for it, get on the BYB board and talk to steverisingsun. He will give you the good news. His word is gospel and I bow at his feet.

Teaser........... Spank me someone 225/60/15's with Navara offset on the fronts and landcruiser rear offsets. 6 studs each. Toyota 1gg blower, Very custom brackets, all LPG of course. We have 15km of test run under the belts. It was leaking boost like a seive (deliberately) and IT HAULS! LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN! new belt is coming today to replace version one. minor modification last night fixed a belt alignment problem. 4 days, three nights, Tired, sore and grinning like a fool. Will is a legend and gets huge credit for his hard work, lateral thinking and skill. Thanks heaps for your work. Full write up is in the works, after further testing of course. _________________ 1986 Wonder Brumby Walks the Walk

Addicted to bright (die dial up)

Wilmington North Carolina is a bloody nice spot as well Mate. Not too far from the Outer Banks for when the king fish are running. Lovely beach driving to be done down there. Tassie is a beautiful spot no doubt. I love it here, the relaxed pace suits me (much more than North Carolina did!) Burlington NC 1998 - 2001 -

Thanks guys, its been a 3 year labour of love. Sooo much fun, But if I read it right, you guys are actualy encouraging me to put more lights on! Bloody hell, its like getting Alcaholic Anonomous advice at a liquor store. I am unsure of how I will go keeping the T tops operational and still getting a strong mounting for a light bar, Anyone got one set up I can look at. I have 4 PIAAs (3 spots and a spread)...I may as well put a whole kilowatt of light out there!! -

Cant do the roof bar, I have T tops and I hate lighting up the bonnet (hood) with overhead lights. My alternator is fine thanks. (EJ25 90amp unit) -
Hi, my name is Matt and I have a problem. I am addicted to bright lights. Its been getting worse, they are never bright enough. I started off with this.. They were dim and yellow, so I put some H4s in there. Then Fatz's mighty L sedan donated some Hella 181s Got a little brighter, not enough, not by a long way. A pilgrimage to Rising Sun in Adelaide saw me upgrade to some good copies of Cibie Oscar spots, Starting to get somewhere now. Those suckers are good, but there was still dark areas. So... I scored a set of PIAAs for $70 on ebay, then another set for $62.50 aaaaaagh then I knew,, I am sick! I put a set on and they did the job, no doubt. Bright blinding white filled all the gaps down low and wide. But... how long were they going to last mounted here??? Not very long with the amount of wildlife around here! SO, This weekend I rebuild a set of old Cibie Oscars (original spreads) and mounted them in front of the inner factory lights, slightly behind the spots and evenly spaced accross the front ( ala WRC cars). Have I gone too far?? _________________ 1986 Wonder Brumby Walks the Walk

Mate, Subarus are light and reasonably torquey. They love sand. ( CV Joints don't really like it when the rubbers split) Well driven they will go a lot further than most stock 4wd vehicles. Drop your tyre pressure and raise your revs! Have fun.

No way, and I don't think a phone pole would budge it now either! He used a pipe bender, I have those exact same pinch marks on all of my roll bars.. I learnt a lot using it for the 1st time. That Bar looks great in my very humble opinion.

updated headlights for EAxx cars?
Matty B replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Go with H4 inserts if you have the 4 headlight front end. 4 x 130w brights usually gets things cooking with gas!
