  1. 160k+ on the current engine...get about 20 mpgs nowadays. Used to get close to 29. the 9.5:1 engine got 28 all the time. 5MT, 80k miles The 88 RX i had got about 30 on cheap gas! 5MT, 140k miles The 89...about 20 mpgs. 160k miles 5MT Stock GL-10 got 24 mpgs no matter what. 100k miles 3AT. Grassroots RX....unknown....lots of miles on it tho.
  2. I'll go take pics and put some arrows in...that shoudl help.
  3. wheres the other 4WD weights, slacker! :-p
  4. 'bout 7k would have my GL-10 as fast as a stock STi. coloradosubarules needs a cool down lap or 3.
  5. has something to do with the center clutch package begin ill maintainted.
  6. sounds like its RUSTED on. I had one do that. PITA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! heat heat heat....bang bang bang....about 3 hrs later, it came off. Otherwise, since you ARE replacing the wheel bearing and have to take the stub out of the trailing arm anyhow....remove the stub with the axle on it. Thats how I did it.
  7. damn, and I thought we were gonna see some hot babes.... :-p thats a mess fo'sho.
  8. OEM is the way to go....but its still the 190* or so temp...ive used the cheapo NAPA 180* tstat and never had a problem.
  9. Dude, the IC doenst work unless there is air, from a hood scoop, going to it. SO ofcourse there are going to be noticable differences with a hood scoop. :-p There is an offbrand WRX (the GC8 style) hoodscoop found on ebay that fits the hump of the EA82 hoods, and it doenst look that bad.
  10. The next time I get a chance to reconfigure my budget I will be able to order on!
  11. Mine is only mounted by the hoses....sitting on the spare tire area edge....being held inplace by the hood and hoses....lol its a WRX TMIC btw
  12. cant go wrong replacing the t stat AND doing a fresh coolant change.
  13. Mine loves me...so it dont care as long as its driven...oiled....cooled....and....well, driven hard! A completely bone stock EA82T that is properly maintained doesnt really care hows its driven....if its modded for HP then it cares...its wants to be driven hard like you made it to be.
  14. ya know....i dont know if we will need the extra fuel.
  15. the 85-86 turbo cams are the same as the carb cams. 87 and up had a specific turbo cam.
  16. Subi81: You are correct about all that. I am not worried at all about the heat flow....i think primarily that heat flow is for situations below WOT and such....like low speed 1/2 throt type stuff.....or so on. This header is designed for high performance, high RPM, high boost and MAX exh flow in mind....racing. Racing stuff cuts the corners around the daily driver stuff. I will gladly take those sacrifices for the performance gains.....as i drive it like a race car every day. lol northguy: The dealer has invested over $5,500 for these items. Myxalplyx: Ive got an intake, catless exhaust with 2.5 inch cat back, running stock boost for the moment...sometimes I run 15 psi, WRX TMIC with BOV plumbed in correctly, the piping for the IC is aimed to be very unrestictive, stock 86 spec cams for the moment, Skip lite flywheel, RX D/R trans, and ive done countless hours of tuning on the timing so i can ride it up to redline in every gear and not have detonation on the stock engine management. (yes i know....MS and DIS)... This engine setup is definatly stronger than the 9.5:1 engine i had in it(no ic, smaller exhaust and not so good intake) and it dynoed at 140 HP at the crank. im estimating the same or better (probably 150 right now) with this setup on stock boost. Now doing some math...when i was running 14 PSI...I outran a legacy GT with Borla headers, stock cats and a cat back...it SHOULD have around 170 hp....and 3000 lbs or so. The GL-10 is about 2750 in street trim...so that means it was packing about 155 hp at that time.
  17. Uhhh......yeah. lol Caboobaroo: I dont ahve pics yet. I first need to have the rims HERE and the tires HERE in order totake pics....right? LOL
  18. The spare tire thingy elevates it....i did trim it off...but it still sits it up. Thats fine, its fits snug under the hood so there is very minimal airflow getting away from it after the scoop. There is certinly NOT much clearance at all with those lines...maybe the 87 and up throt bodys have the ports closer...dunno. unless youve got really thick stuff to slip over the TB, then i dont think its a problem....certinly i have little room at all...but it fits with out aftually casuing a problem.
  19. Check all gounds and other conections to and from batt and starter and ignition-starter switches. Check on those fusable links as well. Also...run a load tester on the batt first, and see what its doing. Could be putting out good volts, but nothing behind it...aka...not holding the charge under a load....
  20. Caboobaroo: Ummm...NO. Tires are expensive in that size and none are avalible to keep the tire/gearing ration correct. IE: I would have a tire thats TOO TALL. calebz: Yep. And thats not that much of a hijack. Myxalplyx: My trip to suspension world is going to be to switch out the POS bent up rear springs I have on the rear right now for some REAL Hypercoil 300 lb ones. My whole DMS on Leone idea wont work. So...it KYB GR2 front with 250, and Carerra with 300 on the rear. Next time I get about 2500, Ill invest in the Koni double adjustable custom coil over stuff they are going to hook me up with. There are LOTS of 13 inch tires on tire rack...just have to look for the right size, and i only look at the Competition tires...since I get my street tires for FREE, in 205-60-13. 5 inch back spacing is thereabouts the stock back spacing of the SUBARU alloy wheels for EA82....threfore I am adding on about 2.5 inches of rim width to the outside of the wheel...decreasing offset, and the wheel-tire will be sticking out of the fender well. the 235-45-13 is a way shorter tire than the stock siye, 185-70-13, therefore i get ALOT more TQ to the ground and shorter gearing. subaru_styles: if I had XT6's....no 5 lug for me. XT6=turbo or BIG rump roast NA build and road racing.
  21. Caboobaroo: Me thinks that is a stock turbo. rallyruss: It BETTER be able to be installed with the engine still attached to everthing...and the flange that TWE is putting on the header is compatible with both the old IHI (the stock VF7) and new IHI (TD04, VF34 and so on) Turbos. Myxalplyx: Man, that aint no stock header! LOL Its the TWE header as JWX has pointed out. northguy: With the header AND downpipe along with a 2.5 inch DP back exhaust and one 3 way cat...I and hoping for 30 or more HP/TQ gain over stock....sicne I am about 30 over stock right now, i expect it to add 30 more on top of what ive got already, putting me at about 180 or so. Once I get the boost controller in, the header and TBE done, and the spyder intake and large TB mod done...Ill be headed to a dyno...oh, and Delta cams.
