  1. RX struts and springs will sit you up a tad more...and yes, it is a firm'er ride. There are a few people running RX suspensions. I for one...have a RX+ suspension on my GL-10 wagon...meaning RX struts, and 400 lb springs. What a cornering experience! I do have a bone stock RX, and it is a major difference in ride quality vs a stock Non-RX. The suspension responds better, its firm'er and more apt to hold the road under any conditions. Its just plain better.
  2. EA82T should be around 20 IN-HG at idle....between 800-1000 rpm. At 1200 it shold do around 22.
  3. I thought there was a DP pic somewhere. I'll do some research and answer the Q's when i find the answers, i have not forgotten!
  4. yes, that is out at one of the autocrosses. back with the yellow spirings. I got those springs here: http://www.musclemotorsports.com/
  5. Well...thats.....hm. Time. Good for me cuz I dont quite have the $ for both right now. Those are good questions on a direct bolt up....There were pics posted in another thread about these parts. Info on that is up in this thread somewhere.
  6. If everyone who wants the parts emails them...I bet we get a faster response...last time i emailed was about 1-2 weeks ago, still nothing back from that.
  7. ***Everyone who is 100% serious about a header, say "I", and if you want a Donwpipe, say so as well*** I need a real figure on who is going to get one for sure, and who is not going to get one.
  8. I want the parts as well. Im waiting to see just what they are going to do for us. http://www.techworkseng.com/contactus.html
  9. You want and EA82T then, or an EJ engine. DEFINATLY the RX or XT/XT6 FT4WD. I dont know anything about torsen diffs... If the springs on the front struts are the same as the front springs on an EA82 sube, I can get you some springs. AWD conversion? Is it 4wd or 2wd right now? If its 2wd...converting a gen 2 sube is marginally more difficult than a gen 3. Ive converted my GL-10 wagon from 2wd auto to FT4WD manual. It was rather easy. The onyl hard part was installing the transmission with no jack, no lift, no shop floor, and I was by myself. Otherwise, if its already a 4wd...then it should not be hard to install an gen 3 trans. I think that the drive tunnel is also way narrower on the gen 2s as well.
  10. I think these axles will take anything we throw at them...as long as we take care of them and dont do anything stupid.
  11. Yes. The block had about 80k-100K miles on it, and then as a last minute thing, just the get the car on the road, i slapped that one under all the factory turbo stuff. Lasted 23k miles before cyl #1 started to breakdown...evidently the rings failed or something...and i drove it HARD everyday. I would do it again with the other block I have, its go about 50K-60K miles on it, and it was in better condition overall. But as a temp engine, for some experimental testing purposes...a stock turbo block is going in.
  12. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyhow....if you are using the stock EA81, use the EA82 SPFI manifolds, they fold a little better. Cold air? Miles Fox has some interesting solutions....if its going to be carbed, a simple hood scoop above the carb would do...but for offroading, a snorkle would be great. I wire up my fans thru a toggle switch. I used the stock fans...the drivers side I used an EA81 drivers side fan. Nice and slim. Rear disks can be found on the turbo gen 3 (EA82T) subes. I dont know which gen 2 or 1 subes came with them. Before I go to any more sugestions....are you offroading, street perofrmance or a combination? Or autocrossing or some other kind of racing?
  13. Ok, more work done. Look at the table! Here is the 1-3 side. Looks like blowby for sure on the one on the right....looks like the other one was ready to give up. Looks like the Mobil 1 Synthetic did its job in keeping the engine clean! The 2-4 side. Looks pretty normal to me. A closeup. Looks like tuesday will be the next time I can really mess with it...start cleaning up the turbo block and heads...and slap it together.
  14. Skip has said that the cams are the difference in the power, and the engine has power up high where it didnt before.....thats what prompted me to think that........ My original theory was that the MAF vs flapper made the real difference....also the fact that the 87+ EA82T has some kind of boost control solenoids, and many things are different with the ignition/spark delivery system compared to the pre 87's....most notibly, vac advance is no longer present, the knock sensor system is different, the whole disty is different, and some did not come with EGR systems. Also, I have not found any figures on the Spyder equipped XT Turbo....there MUST be a huge difference there. Air flow characteristics are way different with that intake. EDIT: Since the 87+ turbo cams are not here in the garage anyways, im going to leave the stock 86 ones in it.
  15. Does anyone know for sure if there are cam differences? I know that an 88 RX, and the 86 GL-10 (back in stock form) Both seem to have the same power delivery....but the 87+ is supposed to have more power up high according to the books.
  16. You can run 93 octane on the 9.5:1 setup. You just have to play with the timing a bit to get the optimum setting for power/no detonation. If you run race fuel, and run the timing up....thats when you get some serious power. The reasons I am going back to 7.7:1 are....ive got lots of turbo shortblocks laying around, im toying with the idea of lots o boost and IC....and the next time I do 9.5:1, it will be more porper, and not a last minute thing. Proper will: Cams, IC, and some other things....
  17. Ready to go on the stand....about to start tearing it down.
  18. Hey...theres an RX! Up in the air a tad, ready to be crawled under.... The fresh engine crane! Engine stand is still in its box...need to put it together... And...the engine, tired and worn out, ready to be worked on out of there. More to come!
  19. Ive never ran out....but i have put 15.2 gal in on seval ocassions.
  20. The GL-10 is home, and its new life is in the form of a stock turbo short block. Amazingly, with a completey broken header, and only running on 2.5 cyls, it cruises at 80 MPH. Pics to come on the project...I wish my harbor freight tools stuff would get here....
  21. First Ive got to find out if they are actually going to make them.
