  1. Well, when it comes doen the the American Redneck ways, im a ford man....so ford stuff all the way. I want IRS...I'll beeffen up the rear stuff if it snaps stuff. If the Stock RX LSD wont be gettign snapped either...its going in the GL-10.
  2. Ok...project car...too manythings to fix and restore to make it road lagal and acutally fun to drive again...needs engine work inside and out, and parts to put back on the engine...cams and such, intake, ehaust, its got no turbo either. Parts from it are slated to go into the GL-10...the trans, flywheel/clutch set....and the front axles are destined for the Daily Driver RX....and the DD RX's are shot almost. Its also missing the instrument cluster, seats, ALL of the interior basically...the side skirts...and its ridding on the worse strut/spring combo ever. Worn the heck out XT's on the front...its almost rubbing the fenderwells, and the back is jacked way sky high with wagon rear springs and struts...and the tires are dryrotted and bald. No radiator either. So....i can get a fuel injected Ford 302 engine...and trans...pretty much the whole car...FREE. Me need another car? NO. Not a Non-SUBARU at least. Im supposidly getting an XT turbo for free soon. So...the chassis is light...and i can put front axle stubs in the front hubs...how abouts i drop the 302 with a C6 behind it in the car? RWD too...and its so light...striped out. Full cage...custom dash...ive got a racing seat that bolts to a cage...and I can get springs for cheap and ive got front struts if I part out the DL...imthinking GT40 heads and a holly 650 on the engine..and some sort of shift kit for the C6 and a floor shifter for it. Dual exhaust, nothing but glasspacks too. Shorty headers to go along with it. hm...3.90 rear diff, and i'll use a set of the BFG's ive got laying around....and since i dont have to worry about front axles...I'll move the lower control arm out, bam, negative camber. Ideas? Good? Bad? Rants/raves? Let everything fly!
  3. why not make a manifold...one for each intake port, and set a little webber on top of it.
  4. I know its really close to the bumpstops. On hard/deeper than usual bumps...i think its hitting them. Its got MRTrally camber/caster plates...so along with the stiff (400 lbs front and rear) springs, the wide grippy tires, and the proper camber...its very very grippy. Its also got an 18MM front, and 20MM rear sway bar. Once i get the rear down, it will be very happy. I did have a set of springs that were softer, 250 lbs, that set the front end 1/2 higher than now, and it never hit the bump stops. Handling was GREAT. At that time I had 330 lbs on the rear.
  5. Ok, so I pulled the ultimate Ricer move today...but its not as bad as you think! I cut the springs....but I didnt use any heat! I used a Portaband! Pretty much ate up 2 blades...and I have two more springs to go...the rears. But...I am at the height i want for the front now, and my negative camber is back...its about 2.5-3 negative deg...GOOD!! Autocross time! Where are the cones....
  6. The rear is a standard, widely avalible 2.5 inch ID coil sping. The stock rate should be about 196 lbs. The stock height is about 11 inches...IIRC. The Front is (again) a standard, widely avalible 5.5 inch ID coil spring. Stock height of 11 inches...IIRC. (or either it was 13?) The stock rate should be 147 lbs. I can get both all day long at many many different rates and heights.
  7. Might try playing with the timing. I had an RX do that...turns out the timing was retarded too much.
  8. Its onyl got the Down pipe on it...and its cut before the bend at the bottom...so its about a 4-5 inch hole...with NO cat. LOUD LOUD LOUD. Ive had a system with NO cats in it, stright pipe from the turbo back. its not loud. A little more than mild...
  9. Ok, clutch slip fixed...no disengage correctly problem is back. Oh well. Seems to run strong and I guess I'll drive it to work today...30 miles I-state+20 miles stop go, stop go...go go go...stop go driving. Then back 30+20. Incase anyone is wondering...this is a bone stock like from the factory engine. Mods are: Accel Coil NGK Racing plugs 3 inch cone filter+MAF adapter bolted on the Air flow meter Bottomless and gutted DP...otherwise, no exhaust system. LOUD XT accessories/belt system Thats it I think. Hopefully...it will hold together longer than my last experimental engine...the RX...that lasted 4 days...was down for a week...then lasted 4 more days. I need this one to go to Sept, and go thru the 24 hours Autocross. EDIT: 3,000TH POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. ok, after a test drive, everytihng but one tihng is fine....but there are little things too....like it was burning coolant its first minutes of life...its running 20-30 degs. too warm (rad? cap? t-stat? Me find out soon...) and some oil leaks (DANGIT!! I was planning in this engine not to leak a single drop!!!).... The engine seemed to be better after being warmed up and driven some. I had gotten to wrong clutch set for he flywheel...the wrong step...so I figures with some shims, it woudl fix my clutch release problem. Yep, sho did. But massive clutch slip at any throttle position above 10%...so, with the engine still in...I am correcting that issue.
  11. Ummmm.......toast. You could clean that up really good, and use it as a coffee table decoration. Thats what I would do. No, seriously, I would do that.
  12. why not have some DOHC 4V per cylider heads made.....and the EJ headers and intakes bolt up to the new heads.
  13. is it EA82? I know that on my turbo 86 its only got one port on the disty...and there is a metal line right at it that gives it vac...or whatso...and there is a little rubber line connecting the vac unit to the metal line. I dont know where the line goes....but I could trace it.
  14. Muhuhuhahahahah!!!!!!!!!! Its Alive Its Alive!!!! edit: thanks for the dizzy suggestions everyone. It was one tooth off. The vac was plugged up already tho.
  15. Um....whats that? My guess is a huge throttle body. But an XT6 throttle body is 63MM. Carb?
  16. subiemech85: I was very careful about how long the engine ran...less than 1 min. I'll move the dizzy in the morning... Are there any off the wall things that could also be doing this mess....?
  17. Ok...except for a cone on the air flow meter, and a gutted DP with no bottom on it (its shooting stright at the ground)...this 1986 engine is completely stock from the factory in turbo from. Well, ok, its got the XT A/C, PS, Alt, and other pullys...and it DOES use the ribbed v belts..(serpintine style) Here is the deal...finally I got the engine in...it runs...idles at 500 rpm...will do NOTHING if the pedal is to the floor. The disty was 180 off, and it wouldnt fire at all...after what fixed...it fired. The dizy is MAXED out...running what should be 30+ deg BTDC...and it wont do anything but idle rough. I checked and at TDC, its where it should be on #1...past it some...and at 20 deg, its dead on #1. So...after some playing...taking the dizy hold down bolts out, and running the dizzy to where 50 deg should be, it idles better, and actually revs. Since i had the garage doors closed to not piss of the neighbors (mid-high end place, houses close together, and its midnight here on the east cost), the fumes were kind of getting to me...so I turned it off and im going to call it a night....well...err, morning. So...what doy uo guys think? One tooth off on the dizzy? Or something else? Coil wires bass ackward? Dizzy coil wires bass ackward? Vac leak? Well, off to bed. Ya'll give me some really good ideas for in the morning...cuz I plan on driving it in about...oh say...9 hours.
  18. Cool deal. Everyone is making progress except for me. Oh well...
  19. Sho nuff. Hey, update...engine is in. Now to wire it up, belts and acc's, coolant...oil already in and filter too...lines and more lines to hook up...rad, fan...exhaust and fire in the hole!
  20. Dude...the Penz filters are the same as Fram. Carboard and Glue! Big no no... I use NAPA Golds. I have a list of the bigger filters if you want...the BIGGEST we have avalibe (we, yes, I work for them) is the 1459...but that has a by pass valve in it. THe biggest with out is the 1647.
  21. Oh no, ive been involved with this thread!
  22. Its actually a Mileage Plus cabinet (The cheaper brand of NAPA electrical stuffs) and I happend to have a pair of the SWRT Vinyls laying around...and i really thought it was gay using the NAPA stickers, and someone else wanted the NAPA stuff...so the color is almost dead on...voila! We actually have one cabinet in stock right now. Its $75 (at least thats the price i paid, might be a little more now). Want me to ship it to you?
