  1. Do both. Otherwise power will still be going to that one front wheel with a complete axle in it.
  2. Folgers meet this last saturday, May 22nd. Good people, free food, nice SUBARU prizes and a Gran Turismo 3 competition. There was Pleiades' RX, My GL-10 and someone what Warp3 knew had an XT6 FT4WD 5spd there. We need more old skoo represent'in!
  3. Dont forget that you have to separate the axle stubs from the rest of the axle...remove the balls and the cages...and then install the stub...that way the car will actually roll!
  4. Cuz the front inner CV joints were bad, and i could not get one of the axle nuts off...so I said F it, and just did it. I really dont know how it handles...since hte last time i drove it vs this time...its changed tires (more grip) gone to RWD, and im used to driving the GL-10 which is low and stiff...and its just goes around the corners at any speed. Going from the GL-10 to the RX is like "HUH???" and its like driving a 4x4 ford truck as compared to the GL-10. LOL Its a little more loose on low speed corner exits...and it WILL lite both rears up...the LSD helps too. Ive not been able to flog it around the back roads yet...YET...
  5. 80k miles on them. Driveable? Yes, hop in, turn key, fasten seat belt and close door...and dont forget to put it in "D" and you're ready to go! Its got a fresh inspection sticker from April. Good 'til April 2005 ofcourse.
  6. Better watch out...there are two RWD RX's running a-muck in the southeast...
  7. Strong. lol You are'nt taking an EG33 and putting it in the back on an RX are you? Thats my plan. *woops, let the cat out!*
  8. I think he means the clutch operation...the WRXs are hyd. where as my GL-10 is cable operated.
  9. Either or....Runs and drives great except for a blown left rear shock. Can provide a good rear set. Hood is...well, less than desired. Can throw in a near perfect condition one for $50. Interior looks like it was not taken car of...otherwise would clean up nice and everything is functional. Engine and trans is sound, and quiet. New muffler, has fresh inspection sicker...new ignition stuffs... Anyhow, there has not been any attention given to this over in the market place, so Id see if I can get an interest here. $250 for the DL wagon now, 2wd auto btw.....or make offers on parts. Its in Charlotte NC.
  10. Legacy vs impreza...interesting information. Is it possible that the legacy is more similar to the Gen 3 Leone, due to the fact that it was developed in the years of the Gen 3 Leone? I would condisder a complete 22B drivetrain and electronics the Holy Grail swap.
  11. Ok, so after replaceing the front main seal...all the oil leaking was gone. I washed the car. No more oil residue on the back of it!!! Well...i noticed that small speks of oil was forming....WTF??? No oil leaking from engine area...used brake cleaner, HIGH POWERED 3M stuff...and all the oil is gone from under the car. Still speks!!! So, I peak under the rear...and see grease slung onto the diff crossmember from about the area of the diff CVs....crap. I somehow manage to get under the wagon enough to see that BOTH CV boots are pretty well done for...BOTH sides. looks like one side is just pulled off the DOJ, and the other side is certinly split. Steve-o...I'll be inquiring about rear axle CV boots tomorrow...be ready!! Otherwise, there are no other issues with this setup. Well........ok ok: since its been HOT out, and the Wilco/Hess that i get fuel at has crappy fuel as compared to the higher traffic "brand name" stations near'er to my home...the engine has been down on power since the last fill up.
  12. Shane, bring the RX to the meet tomorrow, and I'll fix the hesitation.
  13. All i know is that the picture is blurry...and its not an EA82T focused on pure handlng performance...so I dont have a clue! :-p edit: Ya know, something looks fishy with the front suspension....
  14. I can still get those oil cooler adapters....for $35 shipped...lemme know....
  15. Thanks. I dont liek the 87+ ones due to the black bumpers....the 85-86 are so much better because of the front/rear bumper design, and the painting of them to match the body. I also like the grille/sidemaker combo on the 85/86 better as well.
  16. An update...with AC on, on the interstate, at about 100 mph, 89 deg outside...no higher than 190 on the guage.
  17. Thats a god article! Yes, if the dampers were properly setup for the springs/my type of driving, I dont think 24 levels of adjustment would be so much better....but It would help fine tune things for slightly different situations...IF one knew what to do. I know Pleiades has adjustable dampening levels on his Tein Coil Overs...and he adjusts them differently for street and for different autox's...i know he had them softer for me when i autox'd it....but when he autox'd it, be hard'n it back up. Makes the car faster...but less forgiving.
  18. Well....from reading what you typed, the stock GL-10 suspension, even an RX's, is not one but suitible to how I am driving the cars. Cornering: Fast and hard. in order to go fast, it must be able to get the tires to hook up. Having +2 deg of camber does not help at all. Soft springs and dampers dont help either. Sitting so high doesnt help either. The caster could be imporved upon as well....So, camber plates, higher rate springs/shorter springs have given it -2.5 or better camber, the plates provide camber as well, and caster too. Now the tires are hooked up...as long as there are so sharp bumps, as the dampers are worn way out...and are too weak for the springs. As for Rally...i think a STOCK RX suspension would be great! It sits up just right, and the spring/damper combo is very good on those cars for rally...But...id throw some camber/caster plates on to get it as close as possible to 0 or maybe even a tad of negative camber.
  19. im getting 26+ mpgs....hot or cold. not all turbo auto rads are like that one....my gl-10 was auto/turbo...and it came with the factory thin rad. ive heard that the 1989 gl-10 ft4wd auto/turbo had a factory 2 row.
  20. Ok, now with a freshly flushed system...a big core rad (one from an automatic trans equpipped RX, and the rad is aftermarket) and using water plus Valvoline Racing Super Coolant...the temps are down about 20 deg.
  21. Sounds like the vac advance unit is going a little nutty. Id take it out and inspect it for anything out of place....and still try bumping the timing up to aobut 12-14 deg.
