  1. I think it is technically incorrect to call the vane/flapper door style a MAF. But thats just me.
  2. TWE made these parts for them selves. THere were none made for the general SUBARU public....i am trying to get an order big enough so we can get some.
  3. So, the GL-10 has had its final moments for the 9.5:1 engine. The last few days its been sitting at Pleiades' place....its BOV assy robbed off of it for the new 1988 RX I purchased...incidentally, from Pleiades! Its suffered ANOTHER broken crossover pipe. I cant wait until I get the TWE unit! Its last and final running moments are upon it. Sometime in the new few days, Pleiades and I will drive it back down to charlotte, where it will get temporary oem style turbo engine throw in, so that I may develop the chassis for autocrossing, and possibly track events. Over time, I will build up another 9.5:1 engine....if $ permits. I will experiment with Head gasket shellac on non-oem head gaskets for the EA82T. And now.....the 1989 RX is no longer avalible for parts. Those who i have talked to about parts need to email me so we can resolve any issues. Pending a response from Pleiades....some plans might be revealed about that 1989 RX. Well, for now the new fix-um-up toy is the 88 RX. Some parts to restore to H-Stock are here, and its needs some TLC is some areas. Then its ready for action.
  4. Ya know...I've built up two 87+ turbo cars....and slapped together one 86 turbo car. I find it strange that the pre MAF engines seem to pull harder and smoother than the MAF ones....even tho the MAF's are supposed to have more HP at higher RPM...Warp3 and I have the 86 Vane's...and Pleiades has a built up RX, and I have a mostly stock RX. I think some comparing time is in order. I just need some serious cams to play with again.
  5. Bump. Pleiades, we need to get together sometime and get the GL-10 back to my house. And get RX2 over to your place. BTW: I'll be free this evening....and every day after today.... :-\
  6. Well, if I dont offend Mr. Penner by posting it...here it is:
  7. Ive got an email from TWE today. I'll keep everyone updated.
  8. I know there are clutch packs in the trans for the gear sets. What I dont know is there are clutch packs for the 4wd mechanism. That means that its technically an AWD trans, and you can use it in 4wd all the time for autos then. I really dont think so.
  9. TWE's beater wagon IS an EA81. And those parts are on it.
  10. Its a SUBARU! Cool vids, wish I had a cam like that. Oh, that reminds me....
  11. is that 4wd? At least you've got a roof rack and spoiler! My DL doesnt. I average about 22 mpg....but i fly 30 miles of interestate at about 80 mph...close to 5k RPM. Then its about 20 miles of mixed city/hwy condition...and thats just one way! I also have 205/60/13 tires, so thats got to have some sort of an effect on the MPGs....I also aquired the DL for $100. Ive already put 3k miles on it in less than one month.
  12. Ive got a spare 2wd turbo XT trans laying around, maybe that will be my next project victim.
  13. for some strange reason, my 89 RX would do that as well. Cleaning the MAF did nothing. Advancing the timing almost all the way out and running 93 in it did the trick. I dont know why exactly....but it just did.
  14. There are no clutch packs in a Brat....unless its got an EJ series or EA FT4WD trans. And according to some math....you'd better put a 3.70 diff back there for any 4WD action. 3AT Brat owners!! Whats your rear diff ratio?
  15. Front: Left to right, stock GL-10 2wd turbo wagon, 160 lbs, 12.5 inches unloaded height. 1200 lb springs, 8in. 400 lb 8in. These are 5.5 inches in diameter. A very common diameter to find. Many different rates and heights avalible. Rear: Left to right, stock 1989 RX Coupe, 179 lbs, 12 inches unloaded height. 1300 lbs, 10 inches. 400 lbs, 10 inches. These are 2.5 inch ID coil over style springs. These are also very common, easy to find, and many different lenghts and rates avalible. Note that both sets of aftermarket springs are in USED condition. The rear springs are in now, im going to install the front now.
  16. Good Palm Subday to the USMB!! Rise and shine to see what Im cooking this morning! In reference to this here thread... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13852 Ok...it seems to hold the road fine....but no way does it hold in even a slighly uneven corner, altho it is fun. Since the suspension travel has been almost eliminated...it will lift the inside rear tire up, and wheel spin, then out of the corner, slam it down. WHAM. Otherwise, when its actually got all 4 down, its...well....feels like one of those computer cars that you have way too low and stiff...except mine is too high! With it that high...it has lost its front camber, going from -3, back to about -0.5...so ive blue'ed up the outside edges of the tires! The interstate dips are not great....airborn fun. But its really rough when you only have the stock seat and seat belt, you come right out fo those. Anyhow, as you will see from the pictures comming up shortly....ive got something that should be better than the first yellow springs. Got them yesterday...!
  17. 88targarose: you sent me a PM, and i have reply'd smotocon1: Great! We are up to 7 units each! I imagine that everyone would pay me, and then I would pay TWE...and all the parts would be shipped here to me, and then out from me to everyone....but I dont know for sure. The DP is like those found for the WRX...there are pics somewhere on here, i tihnk on this thread here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12054&page=5&pp=10&highlight=high+performance+crossover+pipe Myxalplyx: I have sent TWE an email regarding this groupe buy...no reply yet, as they are very busy.
  18. Thanks Warp3! With all stock parts, the header and DP should be a bolt up. The only thing is...the exhaust after the DP...the DP is 2.5 inches, with no cat. So a trip to NAPA to get the 15038 2.5 inch universal 3 way cat, and then to an exhaust shop, and whamo! Exhaust. Glasspack too. No back pressure, good. EDIT: Ive got my $$$ ready. How about everyone else????
  19. Warp3: Yeah, post on the XT6 board please. I'll post on NASIOC sometime soon. Lots going on here... Stupidru: The stock header/crossover pipe is incredibly restrictive. On the WRX's, a high flow or racing style header and up pipe, along with a proper turbo back exhaust, has seen 20-40 hp increases, and even more so if tuned in.....if i have read all the info I have seen correctly. I do know for sure that opening up the TBE on these cars do yeild quite a bit of power...and the header is the last part to get....then it turbo time. The intake is not as hard to find high flow peices for. AKA SPyder intake, WRX Intercooler, MAF adapter and a $25 3inch ID cone filter to stick on the MAF. And use the 1985/1986 turbo inlet hose....makes for a perfect fit on the 87+ MAF equipped cars....the Flapper AFM on the 85-86 are the restrictor on these subes. I also think the 85/86 tube flows better...its shorter as well.
  20. Well, evidently i am registered there, and cannot log in. AND i cant seem to create another username with my hotmail. Hm. Anyhow.....common guys, lets get 4 more sets!!
  21. I'm gonna see what kind of interest Ive got here with this... I can get lowering springs for our SUBARUs, the Gen 3's. Ya know, the EA82 powered ones. DL/GL/GL-10/RX/Leone/Loyale. I have not testing any of these on an XT....so I am not officially offering them...unless someone wants to be a experiment for me. Also, if anyone is interested, just uprated springs for the rear for those who carry a lot of load back dere in dem wag-ens. I can get springs rates anywhere from 200 (stock rages from 130 (most everything, sedan/wagon/coupe), to 160 (RX)) to 2500 lbs for the front. For the rear, stock is 160 for most, where wagons are 200. I can get rates from 80 to 1000....in many different lenghts. Now the price game....right now, it looks like $240 for a complete set of springs. NEW. I am looking around for different prices and different sizing and more rates. If I have enough interest....I'll get more serious and start something. So, any interest?
  22. I wouldnt be using the XT suspension....the spring rates are too soft. I had 205/60 13 tires rubbing up front with the XT suspension. Go for up rated, yet shorter springs for the front and rear.
  23. Gran Turismo 3? Its in there. 50,000 i think. Towards the end of the SUBARU section...next to the WRCs. OOooooo....an Escort Cosworth....me want too. Rather have my GL-10 over it tho. lol. Its a SUBARU!
