  1. Ok.....and update on the FT4WD conversion...after the install. Alrighty, Ive had to put a completely stock 4wd exhaust on for the time being to pass emissions. Right now im running a 3.90 diff with the 3.70 trans...so bad news. So far nothing seems out of the ordinary. I've got a 3.70 awaiting new seals and fluid to go in. Fuel milage change over the years is as follows: 2wd auto, stock: 22 MPG 2wd auto, open intake and exhaust: 24 mpg 2wd manual, open intake and exhaust: 29 mpg 2wd manual dragging 4wd rear end stuff (diff and axles): 28~29 mpg FT4WD manual with open intake and exh: 28 mpg FT4WD manual with open intake, but STOCK exh: 23 MPG!!!!!!!!!! :banghead: :banghead: So, as soon as I get done with the massive RX buildup, the GL-10 will get some kind of Super Ultra free flow exhaust, AND intake. And dont forget a 3.70 rear diff. I might change the trans and diff over to Redline syn gear oils. Oh, and note that I am running Mobil 1 fully synthetic 10w-30 and 93 octane fuel from Shell at all times. P.S.........And another thing, after installing that exhaust, the engine runs 10 deg. hotter, and I had to retard the timing WAY back to keep from detonating......... P.S.S......I got my cams back form Delta Cams, I'll post about that soon.
  2. with regular non synthetic 10-30 or 5-30, at temp, the stock gauge will show almost zero. With snythtics, 10-30 will show more than zero at idle. Much more so than compared to the non syn stuff. 20-50 or so will show something different as well. then again, its stated in the owners manual...that its normal....
  3. I think 92 was the last year for the turbo EA82. Coupes (also know as the 3 door, or 3 Door Coupe *not to be confused with "hatchback"(EA81/71 powered car)* ), Sedans, Wagons. Mainly found in the GL-10 sedans and wagons from 85 to 89. Some Coupes from 87 to 89. ALL RX's, sedans and coupes, from 85 to 89, but RX coupes were only from 87 to 89. Ive personally NEVER seen a turbo in a "Loyale"...aka, 1990 and up EA82 cars. edit: Some GL models came with Turbo too, mainly wagons. Ive never seen/heard of a GL sedan or ANY DL with EA82T. Id go with the EA82T, and not the EA81T. More parts.
  4. how big of a hair line? The gen 2 heads I jsut pulled of a known good turbo engine with 145k miles has those cracks.
  5. there was a place that converted open diffs to LSD, we talked aobut it a while back. We send open diff to them, and $300 later, an LSD is born. I'm the dude with 9.5:1 turbo.
  6. Ive seen gen 3 heads cracked like that. Infact, the new motor i have for the RX, 145K miles on it, its cracked like that. Gen2 heads. I have gen 2 heads on the GL-10...they are not cracked.
  7. last time I checked...you cant get anytihng but bearings for engine parts its self. Valves, and HVLA's too. YOu can get a full set, seals and every single gasket on the engine. FS5714W is the part number.
  8. The EJ engines already have that. see this document: http://www.geocities.com/wmaham1701/other_files/subaruengines.pdf
  9. Balancing and stuff is always good for an engine. V-8s have alto more rotating mass than the EA82, therefore it has a larger effect on those. I'd still do it to my turbo engine...if I had the time and equipment. As for cams...i tihnk delta only offered two cams thru Comp Cams's catalog. I believe you can get custom grinds too...but the cam I am getting is supposed to be pretty good...for both racing and street. El Mucho power increase, and good idling. As for the oil pump...if it looks likes it almost new after cleaning it...id reuse it.
  10. i know where its at on an Auto. I went thru that. I need to know of a stick. Its the GL-10 in the sig.
  11. delta cams. http://www.deltacam.com/index.htm it cost me less than 130 for a pretty good competition cam. Its on its way to me now. thats allthe advice i have...for now.
  12. Like...where is that at on FT4WD tranmissions? I found one that is on when its in gear, and i thinkits a DUH on the difflock switch, but the 3rd one...it doesnt work...diagrams?
  13. Yeah, back to that. SO what is it???Are the EA82s really open or closed? From what I've seen, they are closed.
  14. LOL Just be sure to start a conversation about the Dart in the off topic area! I reaspect the old muscle cars...nothing beats the Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe. But then again, absolutey nothing beats out any subaru as the most badass all around do all vehicle!
  15. I hope I atleast get the engine and exhaust done on the RX in time for that.
  16. no. the FT4WD trans have an open center diff. The regular 4wd are direct drive.
  17. Is there any program that can run on an IBM Clone (windows type computer) that can run an engine? I am looking for some kind of alternative...something fully programmable.
  18. RX! Alrighty! Well, I was going to bringthe GL-10 out, but its not ready yet. It got dark too fast yesterday! I still needed to fix a small shifter linkage issue, and put the interior backtogether...and clean up the car so it would pass tech! But it look s way too late to get there now...so hopefully I'll see some of you guys out on the 29th...right?
  19. damn, thats the same as what I am getting on the RX and GL-10. The GL-10 is supposed to have 3.70, and the RX definatly has 3.70. XT6 is supposed to have 3.90 according to all the specs I've seen. I think the internal gearing is different between the RX/XT/XT6 FT4WD trans, so that same RPM is met at same speeds, but with a different final drive.
  20. Offset issues. Dont forget to include the offset you will need to account for. Excellent idea, I wonder if anyone else has thought of this. Someone had their hubs redrilled tho...but they were not on the USMB.
  21. idk the dimensions for sure. I could mesure it well in the daylight tho...what kind of crazy idea?
