  1. Im gettign about 20~22...most of that is a lead foot...but even with that same mixed driving with the RX i get 26 or better.
  2. Wondering what you all have been doing to get more MPG's out of the DOHC Phase 1 EJ25D...Ive got the 1996 Version...so it lacks 10hp/10tq that the 97+ have...no head gasket issues, and its got 191k miles on it. Its BONE stock except for STi Version 8 struts with the stock OB springs. Wondering...intake? Full headerback exhaust?
  3. Ebay will be your freind with that car. you can fetch about 20k USD easily.
  4. Just talked to the techs....its mixed as to which side lock cyl its on....some of them say its on the ignition cyl too....so....
  5. it will go away in time from simplay drivning it and having good oil and oil change cycles. Ive had serveral EA82 (same engine, just 2 less pistons) engines do the same thing.
  6. All SUBARU engines love to rev. They enjoy being above 3k. My EA82 Turbo enjoys 3500RPM+ when cruising.
  7. snap! I'll ask around tomorrow.
  8. the things that are breaking had nothing to do with the work that was previously done...so it baffles me sometimes. Oh well...its going to get atleast 7 days of rest comming up.
  9. man...i doubt that....but I really dont have a clue what its doing. Its a SUBARU afterall.
  10. oooo...that I dont know. I think in its rest state its open.
  11. ive got an origial 1998 2.5 RS poster...muahhaha.
  12. Ive got the block for the system and an external regulator. All i need to do is get some barbs and some hose and do the install. its the same one I had on the wagon, and I need to adapt it to the RX before May 24th...So ive got plenty of time right now.
  13. They are BEYOND reliable. They are the BEST SUBARU engine/transmission rebuilders in North America.
  14. eventually I'll have a complete EA82T engine was a centerpeice for my living room.
  15. Well..........make sure there are no intake tract leaks.......thats where I would start.
  16. You decide! I like it regardless. :disco: :alien:
  17. possibly the extra coolant flowing out of the head and into the turbo...therefore the head gets less coolant flow...??
  18. im beginning to think it has a little more do to with the fuel system maybe.... I dont see how external heat woudl do in a head gasket. running lean on that side I could see it...
  19. Check all of your grounds, and then check to make sure that the timing is set properly. I had an RX that the *ONLY* thing wrong with it was....its was set for about 4 deg of timing. It did what you are describing....however, it may not be the case with yours but check it anyways.
  20. Im going to drive it today...hopefully nothing else will break. Gotta install the electric fans soon....
