Here's a link to the wally world tire search page. For 14" Libs, click here. Searching for "Liberator" just gets you books on B-24's. And Jesus, apparently.

Southwest meet, anyone?

What happened?? -
That's right on, morgan! My lift was by far the biggest automotive job I've done thus far. That said, it was really easy. Time consuming, but not hard.
-
Most of your pics I've seen so far are stills of the TV on pause. OK, back under my rock....
-
So did you get a camera, or just a better TV?

I understand the concept here, but what does the measurement represent? A line perpendicular from the hub/wheel contact the inside edge of the rim, right? So is backspacing different than offset, or they interchangeable terms? Furthermore, what the backspacing of a regular ol' 13" rim? If pug stealies are 5" like morgan says, whats a pug alloy?

Does anyone tow with a 1.8L FWD wagon?
singletrack replied to Syonyk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No kidding. I pulled my buddies Toyota p/u (on 33"s) all over town last week with the wagon, tow strap style. It was scary. -

clunk.....clunk....sound after lift install of steering
singletrack replied to monstaru's topic in Off Road
My recently lifted wagon makes noise when steering.... as far as I can tell it's the extended steering shaft clunking. I've more or less traced the vibration back to there, and it happens at the same point on every turn of the wheel ie; if it clunks when my hand is at 12 oclock and I turn the wheel, it'll clunk again when my hand gets back to 12. I've choosen to ignore it. -
Most embarassing place you've been stuck in your Ru?
singletrack replied to RavenTBK's topic in Off Road
Ok, so, Dustyrider and I took my wagon out to the Black Ridge CA, just outside of town, but 1500' higher. This was last February, at night, when I'd only had my wagon a few months and it was still stock. It was during a snowstorm, of course. We knew we would be in deep snow, but didn't realize how deep. We started of down the trail, and quickly came to a hill we couldn't climb. This was maybe 300 yards from pavement. After discovering we could not back up either, we thought that now would be a good time to put the chains on. After stuggling with the chains for a bit, we got um on, and started driving out backawards [no room to turn around] when the car slid into deep snow on the low side of the road. We used the hard plastic case from the chains as shovels and dug the car out as best we could, but the damn thing would not drive out of the ditch. We dug more and more, till we had cleared all the snow within like 10' feet of the car. But still, even with Dave pushing and me hammering the clutch the car wouldn't pull its self out of there, even when we both knew full well it should be able too. So anyway we come to realize the problem; the driver's side door had been in deep snow so I was crawling across to the pass side to get out; at some point I knocked the 4wd lever slightly so it wasn't engaged and the car was running 2wd. The dash light was on and everything. So we actually put in 4wd and it drove right out of there. Well, acutally I got it stuck again, but not so bad the second time. Then we drove out of there. -
Replacement Driver Seat Foam ???

Whoa! That thing is dangerous. I'd fall asleep and kill myself for sure. -
85 Wagon wont go over 30MPH
singletrack replied to sregor13's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It's just a hot air re-circulation hose, its not important. After you do filters, check yer carb! Also, these other fellas may know better, but I'm pretty sure my 85 carbed only had one filter, back by the pump. Don't have that car anymore, so I'm not sure. Did I mention you should check yer carb? -
The Walmart Liberators need a more prominent position in the write-up, the 2 sentences and non-functioning link don't do them justice.

If only I had the money! check this out!

Where do you put the beer? Or the dog? Can't sleep in that thing either. Nope, I'll stick with the wagon. -
I was looking at these before I got the Liberators, they're definetly made by Cooper. Tis pretty funny, check out both websites side by side: Cooper MasterCraft Guess they only wanted to pay the web guy for one site.
-
The Liberators rule. Pehaps not the best mud tire, but here in the desert they're awesome. They also roll very well, even at highway speed. My roomies got the $80 205/14 Coopers, which are very nice tires, but not nearly as big as the $45 225/14 Liburrito. The Liberators have a 40,000 mile warranty, plus the cost of mounting includes lifetime balance/rotation/flat repair....

It helps, thanks. This is pretty much what I was thinking, although my version used alot more hammer . So, now I'm thinking one good heavy piece of steel like 4" or 5" wide drilled to replace the plate, then bending just ahead of the flimsy block down to the body. Maybe some countersunk harware so it'll slide... So you just bolted yers to the foot well of the back seat? And then some more steel (or Al) under the nuts/heads to re-enforce?
-
I knew you'd have something to say about this, thanks. More pics would be great, if you can get um. Any tips on straightening the body?
-
Ok, what about this. The only thing I see that block/plate doing is preventing the the top [edit: bottom] of the rubber bumper from flexing. So I was think I could get a machine shop to make a a nice piece of heavish gauge steel in a sorta z-bend, that would still support the bumper while actually sliding over rocks instead of digging into them. It'd prolly be easier to get such a piece to mate to my now-mangled body. (It's rusty anyway) I'm thinking like this: Also, how bout cutting the round part down a bit? If it doesn't compromise the bumper, it would make mounting a piece of "z" steel alot easier, also improve clearance. Don't wanna start hitting the driveshaft though...
-
Well, sure. But only at the front block is the body tweaked. The rubber bumper mount it OK, the bolt looks to be bent if anything. That bolt is like 6" off the body at its head, so it got tweaked somewhere along the length of it. No big deal. The two front-rear (or is that rear-front?) blocks are a liability. Can I remove them?
