i have the torque grind in my ea81. runs awesome! get 30+ on the hwy with 5th gear. have had no issues at all.
-
really going to try and make it. Hope to finally wheel with some s oobies!

its a little but not all that much.. i run the ea82 cups on ea81 shafts. best thing is to stay stock, just move the mounts down. as monstaru stated, as i have and many others have done, do the research, and then do a trial and error process. i usually only ask a question if im really stuck and cant find the answer im looking for...

Exhausting topics:single, dual, or dual with"X"
UraBUS09 replied to raging squirrel's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
actually going to re-do my exhaust today. found this thread, interesting. i believe that the stock y pipe design is best for stock apps. and slightly modified soobs. got a custom/lifted rig, go custom exhaust. lol. im currently running duals with no cats, just cherry bombs. do not have much top end (4.5-5k rpms max), of course motor isnt built for that, low torque! motor is runing a weber carb, delta torque gring cam, .75 over ea71 pistons, and big valve heads with work (ported and milled), and fresh everything to support it. but- going to a single exhaust, using a turbo maniflod off ea81/82?. but should give me more back pressure than i do now, maybe increasing the curve a bit. will post after drive it! sorry to ramble kinda... -
put it in and drive it. mines been in since it snowed (both axles), when the roads are bare i pop one axle out, other then that i always have the welded diff in, such a difference. i drive 38 miles one way to work, county roads, and 12 miles of hwy, havent had any problems yet driving the speed limit of 55, and even over that if i want. breaking cups due to over extending... even with hybrid axle (es82) is a different problem, nothing with the welded diff. wouldnt be a problem if it was done correctly.... just take your turns easy!

Recent photos and progress....
UraBUS09 replied to UraBUS09's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
havent had any problems with the cops. they mostly stare at me like wtf is that... SO... Got it in. Hooked up. Break in and test drive complete. Sounds good with straight duals. -
well i had that set up on both of my lifted soobs. replaced the strut bottom ext. on the wagon and it completely fixed the camber issue. But if your not driving it as a DD/hwy speeds. then i dont think its as big of a deal. use the bottom exts. Personally I like the top strut blocks. On the rears just move the mounting point of the shock, leaving all stock- in theory, your going to have very minor changes. The Rancho shocks that are on both of my soobs will let the rear cvs over extend, causing dmage.... good luck

Just wanted to let all the ea81 guys/gals know that Dale Green Machine Shop (Auburn WA) has a torque plate to surface/machine the block halves for EA81s. They can build pretty much whatever you could imagine, motor wise. This is where all my machine work is done and I highly recommend them. Just got mine back and looks pretty. Waiting for exchange day to come... Lets see how many people are interested in having a motor built/resurfaced and next time I go in ask them about getting us a deal, USMB members. Mods move this if its in the wrong forum. thanks.
