  1. I went to that NYC auto show last monday, and I have to say I wasn't really impressed with the sedan version of the new impreza, but the wagon I liked a little more. I'm still not a big fan, I like my 02 WRX, and My ea81s I'll be sticking with them for a while.

Pics! Oh i forgot to mention I also got my tool box home from school, so now I have real tools again (and yes my tool box is painted WRB)

After days of doing homework, papers, and other school related shenanigans, I got to work on the Brat for the fist time in what feels like a month I got the fans mounted up and ran wires for them. I also put my grill all back together and actually got it to fit right (it usually keeps popping out of place after I get it all together) I also put fog lights on my brush guard and fitted that back on for fun, I needed some time away from the wiring I'll add photos when I can find my usb cable for my camera.
  4. The ones of the 06 or so STI can be found on eBay for relatively cheep, they are carbon fiber or fiber glass depending on how much you want to spend , I'm not sure if they would have to be cut or not. I was planing on getting one soon for my 02 WRX http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUBARU-IMPREZA-WRX-STI-UNPAINTED-ROOF-SPOILER-02-07-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem33624cf4b7QQitemZ220692542647QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_3958wt_941
  5. This is so cool! Finish it please!!!!!
  6. Got my Wrx out of winter storage, and washed, waxed, and cleaned up the interior in it I also had to do the valve cover gaskets as they were leaking on the up-pipe.
  7. This^ And nice progress! Reminds me of when I did my brat a while back, although that was before I found this wonderful place so no pics...

Awesome! Thanks for the pics! Any reason why you cut the tunnel out towards the back?

The rear mount is just tacked in place right now, I flipped it upside down and mounted it under the shift surrounding. seams to work pretty well. I just have to switch out the two bushings closest to the trans, as they are non existent, and I'll do a little research, and see if I can find away to shorten the the throw in this beast. *Edit* That was way easier to find than it should have been. You take some out of the top, and add it to the bottom by the looks of things.
  10. Looks nice I like the color a lot!

Mine has a ton of throw right now, it hits my console on 1-3-5, and hits the shift boot console while shifting into 2-4 and reverse. And I have the stock stereo in it, if I ever do anything I'll just put it in the glove box to keep the stock look I have going so far. I'm not sure how I could get it to be less I have changed out some of the bushings, I still need to do a couple more, but they shouldn't be causing that much play back and fourth.

Haha that's awesome Mines out of an SR5 so it's leather wrapped! It's just so much nicer then the factory Subaru one that I had. I'm have troubles with my shift linkage hitting the stereo, so I may have to do some more cutting/bending to get it to fit right Maybe shortening the lever would be a good idea as well....

More progress today, I got the heater core hoses made, and started hooking up battery cables, I also bolted up the intake, after having it flop around on the black for too long, next week I will probably try to finished up the wiring, and get the crankcase ventilation all hooked up! A lot of stuff is going on in this corner of the engine bay at this point.
  14. Looks great for $150! Pretty low miles too! I wish I could still find them where I live, heck it's hard finding a first gen legacy where I live, not to mention any ea series cars!

Here's some progress! Got the brakes bled, and put DOT 5 in it because it's parked for six months out of the year. All new lines to the master cylinder. And I got a shift knob off from a 1980's tercel.
  16. It does when it's adjusted so poorly that it doesn't open all the way
  17. 1982gl4 replied to 1982gl4's topic in Members Rides
Well I found a new master cylinder, $45 later I should be able to bleed my brakes. Tomorrow I'll put it in and hopefully get it stopping. I haven't really done much else on the old girl, I have been busy working on my legacy wagon and getting my summer toys out I did however find a place to make me a driveshaft should be pretty inexpensive by the looks of things.
  18. I didn't really think about this... I may have to add bracing under the car which should not be that hard But yes it will not be an easy task, there's one member that put full wrx cross members under a brat to help with the handling, but that would and enormous project on it's own, it took me a few days just to modify my subframe, I would imagine it take weeks, or months to do that correctly. Even the AWD swap will be a challenge. But it is all doable with enough time...and money, I have a lot into mine so far.
  19. That toyota is sweet! Also the sedan looks really good with those black wheels nice job!
  20. That's so awesome! I envy you, if I ever get sick of my current trans (once it's running) This may be something to think about...
  21. Awesome. I would not part that car out, up here there are NONE, and when you do find one it's so rusty the rear subframe is trying to detach itself. I would have killed for this car a year ago, before I found my wrx... And that's the first year of the RS so it has the no foglight bumper (which I prefer) and does that have a SOHC or a DOHC engine? I feel like a read somewhere it was the DOHC for the first year?
  22. This was my first thought as well. I have seen many of these cables corroded especially the one to the starter.
  23. You have to get the rear hubs off from an XT6, and these are hard to find and can be very pricey, and if you are running front legacy brakes like I am, you can fab up a backing plate from a legacy to fit, like in Pooparu's thread, so you can have and e brake or you can just not have one like me ( I will get one in someday) As for the front I went the hard way, I got xt6 control arms and welded in new mounts so I could put new front hubs on (Subaru has a larger balljoint for the five lug cars) Instead of doing this though you could simply have the current control arms you have machined to fit the larger balljoint. Now for the front spindle you can run the xt6 stuff and this will let you have a front e-brake like you currently do and this will solve the e-brake problem, but if you want better stopping power you can put the spindle assembly off from a new Subaru such as a legacy, or an impreza. I currently have outback dual piston calipers on mine. Now with this swap things like custom cv's with have to be made (shortened ej cv's if you are running legacy brakes, not sure about the spline count for the cv's on an XT6 as I have never had one or even worked on one so if you went for the xt6 stuff you might have to swap one of the cv ends) For struts, with a lift ej ones may fit, but with the the way I'm going on my project I want it lower, because the ej struts were so much larger I could have bashed the towers a bunch until they started to be able to turn, but I went with coilovers because I found a set for wicked cheep, and they were going to give me the ride hight/handling that I wanted. Also things like brake lines will have to be made, and if you go with the xt control arms the tire rods on the rack will have to be swapped out for longer ones (I used the ones off from an outback) Sorry for the novel I hope this info helps! Cheers -Shaun
  24. Pooparu and I have both done an AWD swap Pooparus thread (his will realate a little more to yours as his car is a hatch) http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=98829&highlight=Project+ej+hatch+continues And mine, still and EA81 but a Brat http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=117101&highlight=Brat+build%21 And it looks like the "frame rails" (I use that term lightly as the ea81 is a unibody car) in an ea81 are about 31 inches across, and a DOHC engine is about 33 inches, so a couple inches at least have to be taken out. I was trying to find pictures, but most people just do a 2.2 swap so no cutting is needed.
