I have the same wheel. $50 from junk yard. $50 for sand blast and painting. I had mine done white. I drilled them to 4 lug first tho. They fit a sube nicely. I only had to trim a little off the front of the fender. DId you have a problem with the center fitting? I had to really torq mine down because the center hole was just hair to small (maybe the extra think paint and primer).

Quick thought about awd tranny with 4wd switch installed & tcase
Tin Soldier replied to Tin Soldier's topic in Off Road
Guess I didn't consider that fact. Why hasn't someone figured out how to mate a different tranny to an EJ22 so we don't ahve to mess with subes weak axles and gears? There are some real gurus here who should get on that. -
I have a lift that I got from someone here. No instructions. Any one have instructions? I have done it before and think I can do it from memory/feel

Pugs are finally on, yay!!!!!! Watchout 56k
Tin Soldier replied to EYE_WHY's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have had to trim every sube in the front with diff wheels. I used a dremel and then took vise grips and and bent the sharp edge under. Then I I just touched it up with primer and a bit of paint to keep it from rusting. Been over a year and no rust. -
Intermittent Rear Wiper
Tin Soldier replied to Knichol's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have been contimplating rigging the switch from the column of another car into the dash and have int, low, and high for the rear wiper. However just have it be int or off would work for me. I heard you can use the relay from the front wipers to make the rear int. -
Ha!! I had a car that had rusty jones and it was rusted out badly. Low miles too.

Anybody want to host my subaru teaser?
Tin Soldier replied to A DOG's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Torrent is totally the way to go for that kinda stuff. With bitcomet (bitcomet.com) you just right click on the file you want to make the torrent of and it makes it and adds it for you. Then you just post the tracker link and away it goes. The more ppl who get it and reseed it the more ppl can get it and reseed it. -
No more signatures?!?! SIGNATURE POLL
Tin Soldier replied to torxxx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you are smart and know how to work html you can still have a signature. I made mine as JPG file in photoshop. I host it on my own web site so it takes no bandwidth from this site. Then I simply attach my subyboard.jpg file to the end of each post. -
2 video clips, impreza &chuxwagon mud/water dunk!
Tin Soldier replied to Ratty2Austin's topic in Off Road
I dunno. Looks more like a pond to me. Don't think it qualifies as a lake. however. Still just crazy. I end up with a foot of water in my car after 2 horus of driving in the rain. I can't imagine how soaked I would get trying that. ~TTS -
Ok, when you say EJ do you mean like a 90's legacy or like newer imprezas and such? And by parts do you mean new parts? I like the EA coz they are a dime a dozen so I can beat on them and have two or three as spares. How is it already lifted? More power... Um yeah you got me there the power thing is definitly a pro. I surely wouldn't do half the stuff I do in a car I paid more then 1k$-2K$ for. I can't afford to pay someone else to work on my car so I need to be able to do it myself. Lastly. I am one of the odd ones that actually likes the looks of EA82 wagons. Not a big fan of the outbacks. Although I do like the new forester and no subaru is really ugly in my book.

I have a gutted cat and a cherry bomb. Sounds pretty awesome for a little 4 banger. Helped my pickup a bit too.

Shortening shifter in EA82 lifted wagons?
Tin Soldier replied to Tin Soldier's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes it will be a reach for the screen prolly, but I am custom building a dash that will be coming out more then the stock one and be integrated into the console where the stereo is so it will be coming back a bit more then stock. The cup holders will probably be at a comfortable arms length. The carputer is most likely going to be for GPS so I really don't have to reach the screen much. Wireless keyboard and mouse for entry before trip starts. I mainly just wondered if anyone had done it or ran into any problems with it. I may have issues with the D/R shifter and E-Brake so I can prolly only move it a little bit. I thought about the angle approach, but you would still have the same shift difference between gears. I want to shorten the gap a bit. I did a shorter shift on my daily and it works well just needs moved back a bit. Maybe I shouldn't lean back. I could drive like a granny and reach it just fine. -
Hey just noticed you are in PA where you at? I can climb some decent grades at about the same rates you just described as long as I am moving. If someone stops to turn at the bottom I can never get it up to 4th. I have 2inch lift and 26.5" tires too

Shortening shifter in EA82 lifted wagons?
Tin Soldier replied to Tin Soldier's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That was just to shorten it tho right? I want to move mine back about 2-3 inchs also. I am tall and have my seat way back and it's a reach for the shifter in 3rd and 5th. Also I need some extra space for the dash/console I am building. -
Hey all you modding heros! I am lifting an EA82 wagon and I am building a custom dash for it (to incorparte a carputer and cupholders) and I want to bring my shifter back about 3 inchs and shorter by like 2. I also wanted to shorten the D/R shifter a couple of inchs and maybe move it left a touch. Has anyone ever attempted this before? Can I just cut and weld the shift arms?

Hrmm..... Burnout with these little engines usually equals High rev + dump clutch = tire spin. Not good on any driveline parts. I would guess burnouts would be worse especially if you are on pavement. Also, the difference in gearing ratios would come it to play when going from stand still to tire fry. Running in lo range would be less strain.

Lemme see those pics of your bumper/brush guard, skidplates
Tin Soldier replied to ezapar's topic in Off Road
Here is what I have on my 4x4 roo at the moment. It got repaired after this pic was taken. I got stuck and hit a tree so it got banged up. It made using an original factory bumper with the plastic pulled off then we cut the center out using a sawsall so only the bracket where left with a 6" section of the bumper still attached. Then we stuck the large piece of 4 in Mack truck exhaust on it and welded it in place. Next we lined up the Chevy Blazer brush guard and eyeballed it then welded it in place. Lastly we put the 2" exhuast pipe on the bottom and welded it to the brush guard. I wanted to then bend the bottom up and weld it to the 4" pipe but never got that far. In this picture I have hit a tree and broke a couple of the bolts that hold it to the car and at least one weld. Had to to have my Brother in Law (welder by trade) fix it for me -
Safari rack/light bar

Can you give more pix of how that's mounted? I am gonna build one and I am not sure how to mount it. -
Subaru of Torment No Longer!
Tin Soldier replied to DirtyMech's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It's possible to hurt something, but maybe more just coincidental. Sube alternators just sometimes die. Usually when a large amount of stress has been put on them. Now is a good time to a 100amp GM swap -
Icy road, ditch..... needed my dang minivan to pull me out.. Not fun Oh well still runs great.

I would think you could hit any auto parts store and get either one. The local NAPA has bins of diff sizes and such. It would be easier to do the lug nuts
