  1. This wass all replaced by insurance and about $100 extra of my money when I got robbed a few weeks back. I had been accumulating stereo stuff for about 2 years. I would buy a car and then gank the stereo and sell it or something like that. This is the first time in like 8 years that I have gotten to do a completely new system. The insurance company mailed it to me, but it's just a standard after market bezel. It does stick out about 1/2 an inch, but it covers the whole space so it looks factory.
  2. Yes, but unless you have changed your rear design.... this lift if proven to chew up rear axles.
  3. So I got a bunch of boxes in the mail the other day and was so happy!! Finally got the rest of my stereo stuff from insurance! I set right to installing everything. 1000 watt amp, 2 12" subs mounted in a bandpass box that is tunable. Very nice sound. The amp has a remote bass boost controller which is really cool. I never had one before. here is a shot of my dash layout now.
  4. Now I know what I need to save my money for! This car is sweet. I love the extra seating capacity and the built in dvd player. Whose gonna make a lift for it in the next ten years? That way when it's down to $4,000 I can buy it and lift it!
  5. Had the same thing happen a few weeks back. Was really hot and the oil lost it's whatever that makes it lube stuff. I went out the next day and fired it right up and it made a little noise not bad. I did an oil change with 20-50 partial synthetic castrol gtx and now its fine.
  6. What's wrong with that price? I paid $50 to have mine blasted and painted and now it's chipping and it's only been like 3 months. I would have done powder coating for that pricing.
  7. I have a bad EGR code on my loyale. I have a new valve and tried a new solenoid. Sometimes when it's raining the light goes out. How much did you have to tear down to clean it out? I should probably do this to mine. I notice and difference in the winter.
  8. I believe the wiring in the windows is something like that of house wiring where two switches control one light. The juice has to run thru all the switches just in case you might be using one of them.
  9. That would be kewl. I gutted my cat with a hammer and pipe and welded 2 inch pipe to all the way back to a cherry bomb muffler.
  10. Good point. When I put a new rad cap on my car stopped over heating.
  11. What is it with you and cars overheating? Seriously just because the radiator looks good doesn't mean it's not clogged up. After you drive check for cold spots on it. ONly half of mine is working right now and that makes for bad cooling. You do a 185 t stat too Seemed to help a bit.
  12. I only replace them when I break them changing something. Haven't had one blow on a suby yet, but heater hoses are a different storry.
  13. Same problem on my first suby. THe AT did something funky (never learned what happened) and blew ATF out the pipe. COuldn't see anything behind me. After that the AT would not shift right and I limped home in 2nd gear.
  14. My height 6'2", average height of rear hatch when open (unlifted) 5'11" , Nuff said! Reason #2. It's fargon awesome! Reason #3. No one else in my area has one. Reason #4. Did I mention the hatch doesn't open enuff for tall people? Reason #5. Pennsylvania + Rural Area + Snow = Need a lifted Subaru to make deliveries. Reason #6. HAHAHAHAHA!!! You got your truck stuck! I am going home now. (cept I did get stuck once now, but it's not lifted yet) Reason #7. All the guys at the Sand and Gravel pit think it's so cool that they are looking for some of their own. Reason #8. Hey look there goes Ryan. I would recognize that car anywhere. Reason #9. Tall enuff to get over most stuff, light enuff to lift off the rest, and still enuff seats for you and 3 friends to trail ride together. Reason #10. No more hitting my head on the dang hatch.
  15. I went to everybodys favorite auto parts store (insert heavy sarcasm here), Advanced, and bought a toyota Corolla manifold kit (you actually need two for a sube). This kit includes two bolts and three exhaust studs. I tapped the hole using one of the bolts. Then I put high temp locker on the one end of the stud and high never seize on the side the nut goes on and screwed it up in there. Seemed to work better then the bolt trick. Especially if you want to be able to take your exhuast off for upgrades/oops a rock or something like that.
  16. I use Douglas Performance GT's from Wally world. They are 26.5 so I had to trim my fender just a tough and they are 14" so you need a wheel upgrade. I have some awesome winter treads that work great on and off road, but I don't know what they are called. Ask TRogdor on that one.
  17. I have had two sets of white wagon spoke type 14" wheels. My first set came off an Izuzu Pup pickup truck 14"x5.5", beware on those they had some different backspaceing that require some major fender triming. The set I have now are off a Mazda pickup truck, don't know the year. I only had to trim a little bit in front of the wheel for these ones, they seem to have pretty close to the same back spacing as a subaru 13". I am running Walmart Douglas Performance GT tires that are ruffly 26.5 x 7
  18. Hey mudrat79 made that front lsd. I would buy one. I am just saving up. I don't mind spending the money for what I love to do. Plus the dang cars run forever and you can always swap the parts into another 250$ beater when you kill one. I am collecting as many cheap and free subes as possible that way I can always wheel my favorite cars
  19. All I have heard is arguments for brake and clutch wear, which in my humble opinion, who gives a crap? You will have to replace those things eventually anyhow and you probably won't still have the car when it's time to do it. I have only ever had to replace one clutch in my ten + years of driving. Now here is my unasked for three cents worth. I live in the mountains of Pennsylvania. I have driving sticks and autos in the snow and rain and crap, as has my wife. We would both take a stick that can be downshifted over an auto any day of the week. She once wrecked a car because the auto wouldn't down shift and the brakes locked up. I always downshift and I still have to replace brake pads. I have never had to replace a clutch on a sube, but if I ever do it will be from offroading and not from downshifting. Again with downshifting I am always in the right gear to go again. And I would thinking that running your engine in the optimal rpm range would get you better gas mileage then not. I get 24 mpg city driving on a 92 loyale with 26.5 tires on it. 2" exhaust and Cone air intake. Downshifting always. Doubt gas mileage is effected by downshifting. Just don't be drunk and go from 5th to 1st like my uncle. Bad things happen.
  20. My two cents on the whole thing. Hatchs are cool, but if you have a wagon and its already lifted then it's worth fixing. I put about $1,700 into mine just in general repairs but that should last me the next 5-10 years no problem. That is also a complete body work and paint job on it plus wheels and such that you already have. I am still missing the lift, but it will come.
  21. My 3 cents worth on the matter.... I carry a gun always. I don't intend on shooting someone, but most criminals wet their pants if you show a gun. Around here almost everyone carries and there is a lot more respect. YOu know you don't come into someones house in the nite or you will get shot. I don't believe in sensless killing of someone over stuff (it's just stuff), but I also don't think some crook should be allowed to get away with something unlawful. I had my stuff stolen outta my car as a lot of you know. I let it go even tho I knew who did it. And it turned out ok, got an upgrade. Guarranteed if someone comes into my house in the nite while my wife and babies are sleeping they will get a load of buckshot no questions asked and thats the way it is. Also, you shoulda told him like 5 grand for the ride and you want cash and he has to goto the bank with you to make sure it's legit then do a title transfer
  22. So I drove home with no problems. I am not sure what the deal is. I had normal oil pressure and temp the whole trip. I will drive it tomorrow and se what happens.
  23. Ok I went out and started it the pressure came right up. I had to put a gallon of antifreeze in it. I am going to attempt to drive it home after work. It's not making any noise tho. Seems to idle and rev fine. I did by a new radiator cap, because the old one was very loose feeling. The new one is nice and tight so maybe my panic was for nothing. Lets hope anyhow.
