Awaking it from the garage slumber.

!RESCUED! 1980 Subaru Brat
Towed home a second. This is going to be the donor parts car, the entire back half and underneath is pretty rotten and has a ton of bondo so this will most likely give it's life to revive the 80'. I only paid $200 for it to boot!

Just First Generation Subaru Photos!
Finally got a chance to talk to the owner today, i've seen this car around Cheyenne quite a bit which is rare especially for Wyoming. Anyway it's a 77' and the PO had some adapter hubs made so he could run small 4 lug wheels, i'll put up another pic. Really cool car and the interior was spotless.

I really like the way the isuzu truck wheels look on the wagons, and they tuck nicely.

Meet Margaret, the 1987 GL Sedan!
Ha that Ames monument is right by where i currently reside! Instead of going south on that roaf i usually go under I-80 and go through Vedauwoo (Rock formations next to the interstate) if i wouldve known you then we couldve met up! May 13' is right after i moved to this wind swept zone. Margo will like that new tranny!

Tallest 13" tire size
No luck with 13's. The biggest i've ever seen is 185/70R13 which is nothing. This is why everyone goes to 14" rims in a six lug or they do a 5 lug hub swap. Do more googling and you'll see what i mean.

FINALLY got a replacement 5spd d/r. Couple questions
Awesome possum. Yeah man, that's a great find. I think a car wash pressure spray should be plenty to clean it up. Also, make sure you grease the part where the throw out bearing slides, doesn't have to be crazy greased, just enough for it to slide. When you put the clutch and pressure plate on the engine be sure and use the clutch alignment tool, (plastic stub thing in clutch kit with splines) it will hold the clutch perfectly center as you tighten the pressure plate bolts. The regular 4WD GL clutch kit will be fine, you've got an EA82...not exactly a power monster haha. I use one in my EJ swapped loyale and hot rod the crap out of her haha

FINALLY got a replacement 5spd d/r. Couple questions
Another option you might have is taking your tranny to a tranny shop and having them deep clean it and replace seals. I have no idea what that would cost but might be an option if it isn't too expensive? The pilot bearing is a real small one the shaft of the trannys tip rides in that is in the flywheel. It's about the size of a half dollar? The other is the throwout or clutch release bearing that the clutch fork presses agains't the pressure plate. Both of these you will see when you do the tear down. DO NOT FORGET TO PUT THE HOLDER SPRINGS BACK ON THE THROWOUT BEARING! haha they hold the fork to the bearing. You'll see once you get it all apart. Pretty simple in there actually! Good luck bro!

Car Conversion
What you need to do sir spike is a sh*t load of research and reading on your own, it is all on the internet. This generally isn't the type of site to ask such a general question like that. Of course it will work but there are modifactions and other things you need to because the car did not come stock that way. Another thing that would be more helpful is to post your question in the appropriate section i e 90's New generation not in members rides. I understand if this is your first time here, just want to set you on the right path.

Wheel bearing replacement
Remember you don't necessarily need the special socket to remove that lockring. It makes it easy but if you can't find one you can use a punch and hammer and pound on the flat parts of the lock ring to dislodge it and tighten it up when done but take extra time to find where the metal has been bent down in the opening of the lockring. If you don't bend it back out you will fight that sucker forever trying to loosen it.

bumper crunched
I've been using a site called Tinypic to upload pics and it's been great so far. I use my phone for the site though so i don't know how it will work with a regular desk top comp, i can't imagine it being much different. Might want to check that out. Sorry about the idiot, i had a guy do that to me once but i never did hit him. He lived right by me and i'd see him all the time and he used to tailgate people all the time.

Scored a lift kit the other day...
Lookin good! Just tonight i was able to have a friend help me push my relic into the garage. It sat for 14 years behind a ladies house untouched and i saved it. She said the car crusher people were going to give her $150 for it so i said i'll give you $300 and 5 months later brought it home. I have a new thread in members rides labeled "rescued" where i will document alot of my work. Can't wait till mine drives the streets again!
