  1. I drive a 89 Dodge Raider every day...205k and counting. It can off-road really good, and the V6 gives it enough power. Think you can help me with a problem? It has an extremely high idle (between 3,000 and 4,000 RPMS) so shifting can get tricky at times. What really sucks is when I want to go slow in the woods, its nearly impossible to do so! It does decrease to 2,000 or so when I turn the key off then turn it back on but I don't think thats good for it. Sometimes it idles at 700 no problem. No worries though, this thing has been abused so bad, and probably has 30,000 miles in reverse on it. At 45mph the steering wheel shakes so bad my arms get ripped out of the sockets but then it settles down nicely. Soob powered would be cool...very cool! Kevin
  2. No they did not ever offer a 1.8 Turbo in the United States or for any other country. First Impreza turbo in the US was the 2.0L 2002 WRX.
  3. Corky, something tells me that the grin plastered on your face would be the same...2 doors or 4
  4. my name is Kevin Y. too but to answer your question: no. Any Subaru wheel (except Loyale, SVX, and 2005 WRX STi) can be used on any late model Subaru. Kevin
  5. thanks for your opinion shawn I have about 110K on mine as it sits in the driveway. For the past year I have done a lot of highway driving and its just not comfortable for 3-4 hour drives. It still runs great, however, I am also looking to switch to a manual tranny vehicle. I am really searching for a '01 Impreza with decent miles since I love the body style. By the way, for anyone that can run the vin for me it is JF1GG68512G803624. You can email me kjyoun01@hvc.rr.com , post it, or PM me. Thanks
  6. Specs: 02 Outback Sport - White 2.5L engine 5-speed manual tranny 100,400 miles Exterior was nice, had the optional fogs. Nice stock alloys, new rotors and pads all around, brand new tires, great paint. Tail pipe had a lot of "soot" for lack of better wording in it and around the tail pipe cover (burning oil?). Interior left some to be desired...cigarette burns in the seats and that oh so wholesome smell of tobacco (my girlfriend and I are not smokers). Dealer wanted $9,900 for it. This was a car I would be interested in more so if it wasn't smoked in (smell and the seat burns are a big turn off!) but it is a whole lot nicer than my 95 L. What could be causing the soot in tailpipe? Mileage wasn't a concern for me, but would it be wise to have caution with a car that was driven approx. 50,000 miles a year? Thanks, Kevin
  7. the cupholders on the first gen imprezas are so sturdy! I knew where they were right away because it is in my nature to play with everything and see which way everything moves/twists/ect... I had to also show two friends where they were...they were simply amazed!
  8. hi D = 90%Front/10%Rear 3 = 90%Front/10%Rear 2 = 50%Front/50%Rear 1 = 50%Front/50%Rear R = 50%Front/50%Rear The percentage of power to the wheels is obviously subject to road conditions. Sounds like a good buy. The 2.2L engine is pretty damn tough so 95K isn't much at all. I do think you have a major service interval right around 100K however...you should do that
  9. Just as a side note, the 02-current WRX/RS rims are only 6.5" wide while all 98-01 RS rims are 7". Check out this FAQ from NASIOC.com and read away about wheels and tires all day Keep the rubber side down! Kevin
  10. Looks great! If you want to go for that old school look but keep your corner lights (but you would have to buy morettes) get a 95 2.2L Impreza grill and put an old school emblem in place of the new school one. the "V" is nearly identical to first gen. grills. Its what I did, minus the headlight swap I have an Impreza Bra that you can have for $25 total to your door. Its in great shape and it has IMPREZA stamped into the vinyl. It is a genuine Subaru part. Shoot me a PM in interested and we can take it from there. Take care! Kevin
  11. the original buyer probably had a professional install it. it is very common for dealerships to have people contracted to do this kind of work. Take care, Kevin
  12. I would put the fuse in and put the odd tire in the rear. GET 3 MORE ASAP! BTW, the p420 code is for a failed cat. converter I believe. Totally unrelated, just dumb luck I guess it probably had to do with the heat generated from your drive from Ontario to NC. good luck! Kevin
  13. A flashing CEL usually means a cylinder misfire. Pull the plugs out and inspect/replace them. I would also possibly change the fuel filter if that has not been done. Is this a 2.2L or a 2.5L engine? Kevin
  14. I couldn't wait around any longer so I droped it off to get looked at. I had to use the Outback to jump start it as it would not start again. Another interesting note...the radio only shuts off when I use the brake! hahahaha this is funny stuff
  15. Hey all! I hope this post finds everyone in good spirts Anyhow, down to business. Today my 1995 Impreza 2.2l automatic with 103,000 miles refused to start today after I drove to the store. It had started fine before I went, then 10 minutes after I stopped it it would not start. Nothing was coming on, no clicking, ect....My first thoguht was battery and eventhough it is 2 years old it hasn't been snowing signs of slow crankover or anything bad. The terminals had a little corrosion on them but I quickly cleaned that off with some setlzer water. After I did that, it started to click when I turned the key but still, nothing was happening. I finally got a jump start, and while it was slow to crank, it did start. So on the ride home there is now a "whine" when the transmission is rowing through the gears. My radio also "cut out" a few times on the ride, and the idle was shakey (but not bad cam/crank sensor shakey) at stop signs. So I park the car (won't restart), and go back out to it a few hours later to mess around with it. It starts no problem this time, however, now my AT TEMP light flashes 16 times then goes off. I have done some searching and reading of old threads on the board and it seems that that means the duty solenoid has gone bad. Thats a whole lot of $$ isn't it (happy birthday to me weeeeeeeeeeeee!) !?!? So cliffnotes: 1)wouldn't start (seems to now) 2)radio cuts out 3)transmission whine 4)shakey idle at stops 4)AT TEMP light flashes 16 times So, any ideas? I have a 167 piece mechanics tool set from Sears, decent conceptual understanding, and a bank account that I'm trying to build up so I can move into an apartment. Thanks all Kevin
  16. man I just graduated from Syracuse this past may. There is rally-x right outside of Rochester and auto-x at Shopingtown Mall in Syracuse. If you want more info I can give you links
  17. did everyone manage to thread it so it sticks out of the oil pan like in the picture I attached in the original post? Mine is cocked in the 3:00 position and snug. Directions said not to really get on it so I didn't. Kevin
  18. No, there is no "replacement". Its notched for a reason and if you went "straight" you wouldnt be able to shift into any of the gears Did you just get it? Yes? You'll get used to it Kevin
