  1. Lots of people canoe and kayak the Rondout Creek, but I have never done it personally. I think you're thinking about the Esopus Creek? Lots of people are always kayaking that (some parts are supposed to be pretty good), but it's not good for canoeing until you drop in below the Ashokan Reservoir somewhere in Hurley or Stone Ridge. 2. Years ago while this board was in its infant stages, SmashPDX and I were thinking about the exact same thing. Only difference is we cut away the whole box and just left the frame. It still mounted to in the stock locations, but it just didnt have a bottom in the box. Follow me? It was great and all (WOT sound, throttle, torque, ect), but I travel way too much on forest roads/secondary roads, and the occassional road from hell. What would happen is that dirt and mud would get sucked up into the filter (totally exposed in the engine bay) as well as leaves and sticks from large puddles and the like. Sooooooo, I had to replace it and just use the stock setup again. I believe this led to the eventual demise of my MAP sensor, which was $400? or so to replace..... For street use however, I couldn't have been happier. One thing I did notice was I got a humming noise at idle with this setup. Kevin 1995 Impreza
  3. that h12 engine was for their f1 car way back in the day when they were trying to find a motorsport program that suited them
  4. All of a sudden started? Probably not Is it the OEM Subaru plate? Yes? That just hid it. My differential does the same thing, and has for the past 60K of my ownership. Gear oil is thick, so it will be a slow leak. Just keep an eye on it. Sometimes, I find it helps if I take the filler plug and the drain plug out and clean the threads. Just make sure you put them back in the right holes.
  5. BYB has had EJ kits for a while. They are $460 for any EJ car. Check out their site for more info.
  6. Do you have the piece in your hand? This isn't really a major problem, so cheer up This happened in the truck at work and on a friends car, and both times was solved by putting some rubber cement on the broken off button and putting it back on the metal pin that it covers. So far, both have held up fine for the past 20,000 miles. Assuming Subaru uses the same setup....it is also possible to press the metal rod, but it hurts a lot more Kevin Oh yeah, It says in the manual what gears are best to park it in (mine does anyhow). If its uphill I usually park in 1 or 2 and if I'm facing downhill I put it in R.
  7. Neil: you would be better to post the links or multiple pictures in one post rather than 5 or however many it is you made. People will be able to follow the topic better instead of having your stuff spread out over 3 different pages 2 days from now. Take care Kevin

  9. And removing the plastic thing under the steering column isn't necessary, but it may make things easier. I haven't ever had any problems getting to the connectors.
  10. Its really hidden good. When you are on your back looking up, it will be on the radio side of the steering column. Its usually taped to another bundle of wires with black tape of some sort. Just run your fingers along every bundle until you find it. Ignore the green T connectors, you're looking for the black ones. There will be two that snap in to eachother. Do that, then follow these instructions written by Legacy777. Kevin
  11. Mine crapped at 58K. Now coming up on 100K, Ill probably have to have it replaced again
  12. Thanks They were something like $25 a piece with good Blizzack 205-70-15's on them. They just barely fit, but on turns the fronts rubbed the plastic fender liner. I liked the 2" lift or whatever it was they gave, but I had to put my smaller ones on it
  13. if it wants to yank the wheel out of your hands then I would check your tie rods.
  14. I have no idea what it says, but it's cool! and another strange site..any idea what it says?
  15. On AWD subies with the automatic, D and 3 have the 90/10 split until wheelspin occurs. When the selector is in 2, 1, and R, the split is 50/50. On many early legacys/imprezas, there was also a "Manual" button that "locked" the tranny in a certain gear. Now, Im a little hazy on the details as my 95 Impreza automatic doesn't have one, but my understanding is if you press the button in 2nd, it will not shift out of second (up or down). Maybe someone a little more familiar with this button can chime in. Kevin
  16. sounds like the Pathfinder has a similiar system like Jeeps Quadratrak or however it is you spell it. It works well, but it noticeably slips before it engages. It is definately not as seamless as Subaru AWD.
