The Awesome Older Generation Picture Thread
Ok, this thread has been getting a lil' light on the Awesome Subaru "BRAT" side of things so here's one for ya'! Cabela's is one of our clients and I'm currently working on redesigning their packaging and I was doing a stock photo search today on shutterstock and what do I see, I said to myself..."No Friggin' Way!" P.S. Let me know if any of you want the high-res version of this bad boy, I downloaded the 8.5 x 11 at 300dpi version! Although, of course it's for "EDITORIAL USE ONLY!"

proportioning valve + rear disk swap (WTB: valve)
Shawn, You also mentioned a larger disc from another EA81 model that could be used for the front disc brakes on the BRAT, was it a 84' XT Coupe?

It's a BRAT!
Great looking Brat, super clean! I bet you also got for a good price, would've been a shame to get rid of it so soon, if it at all! Just a quick tip to the faded front bumper and rear caps, Plasticote makes a blacker bumper spray paint that works pretty darn well and would bring those pieces up to speed with how the rest of the exterior looks. You'd also be surprised how well a set of stainless steel trim rings finish off the stock steelies as well! P.S. I also recently noticed a few "Tan Color" NOS interior items on good ole fleebay!

I mounted a set of these in my 82' Brat and they work great no matter what I'm drinking out of, unless it would be a 2 Liter bottle!

BRAT Swing Away Tire Carrier or Other Ideas???
My 82' BRAT is currently undergoing a EJ22 conversion courtesy of Shawn W @ RetroRoo and since I'll be loosing my space for the spare tire, I'm wondering what others have done or fabricated in terms of a spare tire carrier. A swing-away style would be cool, but would take some serious fabrication or modification of an existing carrier from let's say a Pathfinder or 4-Runner. I also thought of going with a Baja Style tire carrier. Anyone have any thoughts or pics of such a modification? Let's see Em'!!! I've attached a pic of the rim and tire combo I'm going with to compliment the 4" lift, along with some carriers as idea starters...

New Brat

1982 Subaru Brat owner here and new member!
I've been kicking around the idea of installing fender flares on my 82' and I'm curious to see those installed. Did you use 4 rear Wrangler fender flares since the front ones on the Wrangler are squared off towards the front? Anyone else have a reco on type or brand of flares that fit the E81's? Best, Eric

Hello subaru peeps, officially!
I was stopping off the side of the freeways on the way back home from picking it up in LA and was trying to paint a picture of what I thought felt like a MAD MAX BRAT out in the wasteland, taking a picture from the passenger side would of captured a much less interesting shot of the freeway and completely blown the illusion. Trust me though, it's just a nice as the driver's side, lol! Thanks everyone for the compliments, I have to say I'm really happy with it and in my obsessive compulsive way have taken it even further over the last several months and will definitely post pictures once it's complete! It's also funny how many people don't know what it is especially without the BRAT decal on the cab, but they still really dig it just the same, I also happened to received a sixth offer to buy it off me just last week... NO SALE!!!

Hello subaru peeps, officially!
I joined up here a couple of months ago and now that I've finally landed my Brat and drove it back from LA a few weeks ago, I guess I finally feel like I can be part of the club now so to speak! I currently live in Illinois, but I'm originally from Wisconsin. I owned a red 1985 5 Speed Brat back in college, tan interior, white bush bar & roll bar with a custom made tan tonneau cover, when I sold it in 95' it only had 78,000 miles on it and was in mint condition, the darn thing looked like it could've driven right off the front of the radio controlled Tamiya model kit box, I wonder if anybody in the Wisconsin Chapter currently has it. Well, needless to say I started to get the itch once again for one and so my search began — news paper, Ebay and finally Craigslist which is where I landed the little gem that pictured below! When I saw it, I knew it was the one for me, I was like man, if Mad Max drove a Subaru Brat, that's probably how it would look, lol! It's a 1982 with only 125,000 miles on it and a working cyclops headlight that I picked up for $3,000. Anyway, Blah! Blah! Blah! Good to be here and enjoy the pics. All The Best, Eric
