Southwest meet, anyone?
does anyone know any good areas to go on a moderate off-roading/biking/fishing weekend? i think planning to go to a place that someone is more familiar with would be better than 'winging it' for a group meet such as this.

Rarity of D/R AWD
SubaSkeet replied to WoodsWagon's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXive never even heard of a dual-range all wheel drive - sounds kinda weird to me. either im trippin or do you mean d/r 4wd? if you in actuality do mean AWD please explain how this would work... i am indeed interested. thanks, skeet

oil splattering all over the place
cvs are no problem, you can reboot/regrease it soon and have nothing to worry about, or you can take the slacker approach like me and drive on it till it clicks in a straight line. axles are cheap enough and need to be replaced at least every 2 yrs on older soobs anyway.

I need more power!!!!!!!!!!
wow, do i feel the heat resonating off this thread. cmon man, subaru owners are friends, not enemies. p.s. loyales were built to be gutless, and unless you wanna tear it apart and do enough mods to not make it a loyale i suggest you recognize that you didnt exactly purchase the fastest wagon in the west (that would be the dodge magnum, eh). p.p.s. mods, in order to avoid further "board veteran vs. newbie" fights i think it would be neccessary to put all who join through a posting etiquitte (sp?) course - that movie in the off-topic forum, in particular. this type of thing isnt worth getting frustrated over. just an idea. skeet

suspension

"now this time it wasnt me, i swear!" (heater smell problem)
thanks te ye all fer de help. rob, i really hope it isnt a dead animal. that would be just nasty. im friends w/ the guy that sold me the car, maybe he knows if it smelled last winter and ill get his opinion. if the problem is pretty deep then ill just buy a space heater and use an ext. battery source, or just wear a thicker jacket. thanks again.

"now this time it wasnt me, i swear!" (heater smell problem)
cant find too similar posts on thread, so... its hot my car overheats w/ a/c on sometimes i turn on heat to bring the temp down eery smells of black-death-infested rats enters through vents upchucking begins heat goes off immediately most of the probs ive seen in other posts is that its actually cold when this happens. is my prob most likely the heater core, or is some animal infesting my hose lines? thanks, skeet

Aggressive mud/snow tires for stock 13's?
sorry to jack this thread, but according to brian's movie post in the off-topic forum it is better to use an existing thread than start my own. anyway, it seems snow tires on 13"s is covered pretty well, is there any dirt tires that will fit on stock wheels? or to broaden the search, is there any deeper tread tire than the road tires that dont wear as fast as snow tires would? snow is not too major a problem when its 70 degrees in december down here... thanks, skeet

Please Please Carfax me
SubaSkeet replied to TeamPanic's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSSV - supersonic vehicle. dont really know, but carfax wouldnt tell ya either. it only has to do with the model you have, such as 'limited edition' or 'special edition'. you can probably look it up either in the search on this forum or a google search (ie: subaru outback ssv).

Southwest meet, anyone?
hey jared, im in that wonderful city i like to call sodom & gomora, but in reality it is called las vegas. i can go pretty much anywhere within a 3-4 hr. radius o' that, which includes: phoenix, tucson, scottsdale, grand canyon in AZ Cedar city, st. george, lake powell (maybe) in UT Death valley, lake mead/mojave, colorado R. in NV (close to) LA/San Bern. area, barstow in CA i dont think my car can handle too much more of a distance, and if it breaks somewhere i dont want to be too far from help/home. believe me, it takes a long time to get back to some sort of civilization after leaving vegas. not that the city qualifies for anything civilized, mind you... since moab (and alike areas) was mentioned, would anyone be opposed to having a little biking going on as well? there's too many bike trails for me to pass up while im up there. or down there, depending where we meet.

New movie with brat
jus barely got home from seeing it, and i knew there was a brat in it before i watched it (thats half the reason i saw the flik) so the whole time i was like "dang, where's this friggin brat?" and my friend was like "what the crap you talkin about?" and then i saw it... and weeped that it was owned by the "something kwon dojo" guy and not the cholo's. although, that ride was pretty gangsta... anyway, this topic seems to come up every week...

CV Boot repair
if you get the axle(s) at autozone i know they have a lifetime warranty so if it breaks again (due to extreme off roading, right?) you can take it back to them and tell them to replace it because they didnt know what they were getting into when they said "free axles for life" muahahahaha. the axles are also universal.

Sputters ?
fuel filter? usually those has a lot to do with bogging issues. however my car does the same when i floor it - i just dont think the car has enough power at that rpm to jump a few rotations faster so it does the opposite. kinda like its being flooded. are you sure it is specific to just 3 and 5 gear? i'd think that 4th gear would be in on the boggin action too since it is a higher gear as well.
