Of course we want to know how to make a 4EAT full manual!
  2. Well if you were in Bozeman I'd be glad to take care of you...........I'm not familiar with any independents in GF that specialize in Subarus. I am aware of a car that was repaired at a shop in GF that they put the cams in wrong and bent valves, so..............you may want to good with the dealer till you can get more familiar with the area and shops.
  3. As compaired to the price of a used 2.5L DOHC, a CCR rebuilt is a very good value. When buying used engines you should replace all the seals, water pump timing belt...........and then you still don't know when the head gaskets will go, (because they will). CCR engines come complete with new T-belt, water pump, and even spark plugs and oil filter.
  4. Yep, look for Nissan 2WD pickups. I think the only 14" Toyota wheels were 5 lug.
  5. Montana 4X4 Association's annual Divid Ride is next week, 13th-17th. Most of the trails open to motorized use in Montana during the summer can probably be done in a Subaru. When I get mine done I'm going to find out. This type of thing could be done on the local level with the off road club or on the state level with all the clubs working together. Only thing that is needed is warm willing bodys to organize and work the events. The local is club has its hands full with the 4-5 events that we do at the motor sports park. We need more man power! I would love to see some kind of annual charitable event like this happen here. Hats off to those who made this event possible and all who participated. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
  6. Incresing the angle of the rear axle, not good. The DOJ's were not made for this. CV joints are made for opperation at extreme angles.
  7. The HH valve only works on a 10% uphill incline. Also while in forward motion if you were able to apply the brake via the HH, any sudden deceleration could cause the check ball to roll forward and release the brakes. Could be a good thing, but in certain situations maybe not. I think to really make it work the HH would have to be mounted vertically.
  8. My drive way is starting to look like that..............but between the wife (what you going to do with that) and the government telling me I have to carry liabilatiy insurance on all of them (although I haven't figured out how to drive more than one at a time), I'm going to have to let one of my Toyota's go.
  9. Interesting, I've never seen a set, and there are a lot of Subarus around here. I got these on a free 87 DL 2WD wagon. Best part of the car, even though I don't have a full set. Oh well, I don't have anything to run them on anyway. Drilled my Hatchback hubs for six lug.
  10. When I copy the URL and paste it shows up as a "little red X". These are chrome, just covered with mud. Good looking wheels though.
  11. Other bad part is I can't figure out how to attatch image to my post. I finally got it to upload into the image gallery.................now to figure out how to get it to show up here.

  13. I'm guessing you are refuring to a body lift for vehicles with ladder frames.? Subarus have a unibody. The body of the car is what keeps the suspension located. If you put rubber spacers between the suspension and body, the car would be undrivable. Were as on a vehicle with a ladder frame desing the suspension is attached to the frame. The body is just riding on top of the frame, so you can get away with doing body lifts to gain tire clearance, with out affecting your suspension integrity.
  14. You need to send this info to Ozified so it can be added to the destructions that come with the lift kits. I've been wondering why there isn't any mention of this problem in the install instructions. Really sucks to get every thing together then find out you have to take the struts back out to hammer the inner fender.
  15. The Purge Solenoid is for evaporative emissions. The evap emissions system pulls the fuel vapors from the fuel tank an recycles them through the engine to be burned. Don't want those nasty fuel vapors getting into the air. So, yes............
  16. Question.........if the purge solinoid was defunct, would it result in a slight hesitation when accelerating?? That would more likely be a bad accelerator pump.
  17. Did you adjust valves after you put the heads back on the engine, or did you do it with heads off? If the valves are adjusted with the heads off the clearance will change when the engine is assembled.
  18. It should come on when car is started, then go out. If it flashes after start up, that means there are trouble codes stored in TCM memory.
  19. Ouch! If the MAP was bad there should have been a code for it. If there was only a P0400 code and they replaced the MAP sensor and filter at the same time.................you my have bought a MAP sensor for nothing. Have only see one bad MAP sensor in the last 8 years.
  20. It's like the 1.8L Impreza engine and the 2.2L. They look the same. The Phase II 2.2L looks just like the '00 and newer SOHC 2.5L.
  21. On the passanger side strut tower there is a MAP sensor with a vacuum hose going to the intake manifold. In this vacuum line is a filter, look at the enige it will be to the left of the throttle body on the back side of the intake. Part # 22663AA010. Replace that. The computer monitors EGR flow by the change in manifold air pressure. This filter being restricted throws off the prussure that the MAP sensor sees.
  22. Ok, there is a "Phase II" 2.2L that looks like the SOHC 2.5L, that was used in the '99 Brighton, and in some Impreza's as I understand it. Don't know what year they started in the Impreza. Yes it has to rocker arm shafts. The timing belt replacement and valve adjustment mainttenance on these engines is 105,000 for all of them. The Phase I 2.2, whitch is the engines that still have 60,000 timing belt replacment intervals, has 3 different valve trains. Standard rocker arms w/ HLA's. In 95 they went to roller rockers w/ HLA's. In 97 they went to roller rockers w/ solid lash adjusters.
