I used Red locktite on my crank bolt... I had an issue with it hucking the pulley off every so often so I put red on it.... if I need to get it off its very simple... breaker bar on the crank, disable it from running, lean the breaker bar on the front support and hit the starter. BAM-O! its loose..

Get a long screwdriver and...... Just kidding... Actually using lighter fluid like that ment for Zippo style lighters geally gets that stuck on goo off fast.

I'm gonna get OT and claim that 34.67% of all old subaru parts now reside in Kitchens.

My XT6 did this a few weeks ago... The light came on all the time, but could only be seen at night. It started driving through Illnois... made it to CO, drove it around a bit... I got a nice NAPA 120 Amp out of a junkyards that looked new. No more problems. I also remember having a Turbo XT that had the same issue and the Alt again was the cause. If its a new alt, where'd ya buy it? Take it back and get a new one... losts of them aftermarket stuff is JUNK... like checker.... I like the NAPA premium one I have now, but I've also heard of people having trouble with them.... My first suggestion is to take the alt back where you got it from and get a new one... you probably just got a defect.... ohh and BTW... my volts gauge and voltage testing went fine in my XTs.... neither showed any other issues other then the lights being very faintly on.

someone can yell at me if I'm nuts but............. Subaru only made two FT4wd trannies in the late 80s... the RX and the XT6... the xt6 was a 3.9 but no D/R... the RX was D/R but was 3.7.....

I had the same issue in an XT6..... baught it, drove it for ten minutes, started clacking/overheating/no oil pressure.... shut it off, went home, got a dolly, came back, started it up, drove it on the dolly, no noise. Never knew/cared what it was.... parts car.Good info though

I spotted some super rare parts in local yards. First in Action off tower in Auroraish, theres a 94 Turbo wagon. Now the biggie... In Pull and save off Peoria theres an 83 Turbo Wagon... I pulled some nick nacks off it, but the motor and everything else is there... good chance for CO peeps to score an EA81T... That is all.

I actually saw a set of 4 on an 83 wagon in a yard about a week ago..... I was like, "wow those are neat". They were white... I kept walking.... got allied 15's on the way:brow:

SWEET!! Your wagon rocks!!! Any more pics? What tail gate did you use? Looks like you cut it at the front of the rear window, what did you do with the seam at the roof? Do you have any type of removable roof for it? Has any body intregerty been comprimised at all that you can feel? I think if I were to do this I'd cut carefully and make the top have smaller windows yet be replacable with latches. That'd be sweet. Thanks for any info, I love your wagon.

Hey.... On my 6 my ignition is turned all the way advanced and I run premuim with no issues... makes lots more powA! Anyhoo, the timing light is the way to go, but you can also do it by ear. On old VWs I personally think you could get the timing more right by ear per engine then with the light. Lights tell you EXACTLY where it is, making it much easier to test and tune, but carry your wrench around a bit moving the dizzy a few degrees at a time and see where it runs best.

I disagree.... I once baught a 1980 RX7 for $150 that had sat in a field for 7 years..... the goo in the tank was blood red and had clogged the tank sock. Kinda extreme, but it is possable

w00t!!! XT6 guy in colorado. I would second what they say, first check your grounds, then accuse the alt. Question ??? Is it only happening when you have the turn signal on? Does it only do it at night when you've loaded the system with the lights and such? If only at night or only w/ turn signal, thats fairly normal for an older XT6, but I'd probably still have the alt checked out... Where abouts do you live BTW? I drive the yellow one around Broomfield, and Rick drives a silver one around lakewood and boulder....

Hey, XT6 guy here... I was looking at this and there are a few corrections. First Austin said if its only 10 more amps then stock XT-6, then why do it? Well first its 40 more amps then stock, AND theres a kit to make it a 200Amp BEAST! I'll repost this here: http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=67 Secondly if you look at that site they also provide pulleys that are twin V, AND 6 groove serp style pulleys in different sizes with a little math thing to do to get the right one. Next Time I'm at a yard I'll check it out and bring some of this to the XT-6 side of things if I do it. I hate turning in the cold night and running out of power steering. I think the extra 40 amps would do wonders. Plus I wonder if it would be easier to rid my car of the AC

no, no downpipe... just 2 cross overs one with turbo flange one with out. Friday morn I have off til 5ish in the afternoon and all weekend I'll probably be out in front of my house sanding a hood and other parts.
