  1. I had a napa machine shop doa shave and mulit angle valve grid and new valve seals on my 6..... ran about $150
  2. KingBobDole 1987 Subaru GL Wagon D/R 5-Speed Power steering... its black and called the "outback" cusz its got that badge on it:brow: ohh... standard daily drive type 4" lift..... Why'd you need to know the make?
  3. Go to: RADIO SHACK!!! There are two cleaners I recommend... The one that works best is CRAG power booster... it comes in either pen or spray.... both EXPENSIVE, but damn it works good... The other is the generic rat shack cleaner spray in a small, but good sized can. much cheaper... the craig stuff is like $15 for a tiny bottle the RS brand is like $10 for a good sized bottle... the RS stuff works, but have some toothpicks handy to knock off some stuff in the connectors if need be... I havent tried the one with the brush on the top... but it might work too.
  4. Check the frame rails for rust...... hell check the car for rust. they are not really problem matic... but they are tempermental..... I always tell myself that I will never pay more then 1k for an xt of any kind in any condition.... Roni just got a xt-t... awsome shape, a real cherry... $1k.
  5. also check the coolant temp sensor... check all the connectors for grodies...... usually da green corosion is what gets me all the time
  6. sounds good:-\ so in 5k... how many axles total have you gone through?
  7. I'm in.... I'll want an 4" EA82 lift... but... Whats the difference in clearance between the two? Clearance is the only thing right? The "outer" hieght is the same but the "inner" components are not dropped as much? Thanks. and Bid people, I wanna get this cheap!
  8. I would but.... This is the third EA81T in this yard in 2 months... and I have a love of XTs and not earlier stuffs so I have no use for it... but anyone else in CO... PNS has the best prices on complete engines so I would agree that if you need it, this is a good choice.
  9. well.... I went back to try andf buy it again but.... it's out in the yard being parted and they didnt "blow it up".... tailgates already missing so if any of you CO peeps need rare ea81T BRAT parts, nows the time to get to PNS....
  10. Hey... I'm not able to go save it, or attempt to again.. I simply dont have the time... I'd LOVE to have the car, but.... no time... someone save this poor thing
  11. Shawn.. I stopped... it was a 2wd auto... spray can paint job.. poorly done...
  12. Bastids... They have a beautiful TURBO BRAT sitting behind the fence to come into the yard. After I clean up, because its like complete... says Turbo on the mirrors and the sides under the BRAT like no rust at all.... I go ask the guy if I can buy it. The guys like... "no.. were gonna blow that one up!" My jaw hit the floor... "Blow it up?!?!?! thats like THE RAREST Subaru of the early 80s!!!" And he comes back with "I know.. and its turbo to boot! but it'll be back in a few weeks for parts..." then he grins..." but I doubt that the motor will be any good" I asked him again to buy it, but he said that they didnt currently have a dealers lisence and could not... After I restrained my self from just jumping the counter and killing the guy, I left and complained about how much of an arse he was to my friend for the rest of the day...
  13. hey... If you have access to a junk yard and have a crank driven fan... do yourself a favor and get a new fan clutch. My Rx-7 had a similar issue... overheated when sitting, was fine moving..... fan clutch was bad... fan spun, sounded like a garbage truck... didnt cool at all.....
  14. Wow... thats the 04 meet? My car has come a little ways since then.... mostly louvers, but it still needs paint BAD.... we need to set up a CO meet again soon... Rick has another XT to slide off a cliff and his sisters picking up a turbo this weekend......Hmmmm
  15. Seconded... I bet you'll have... I mean your friend that owns a BRAT just like yours, will have to pull the manifold to get it out, its probably wrapped around one of the valve stems....
  16. I dont know if you noticed, but stock turbo cars are not really that fast. Subaru really didn't turbo these things for the POWA!!, they did it for fuel milage. The reason that they dropped the compression was so that one could run regular grade fuel in it to conserve. My buddy with fairly light foot in his turbo xt usually gets about 32MPG...... My point is that they made them high compression turbos... one would HAVE to use high grade fuel. Carb? Wiring harness? If you get the right carb you can throw all that wiring harness junk out the window. My 87 doesnt need no fancy wiring harness, but some of the older feedback carbs do since they have a really simple computer.... Get the 87 carb... hell my car doesn't even have an O2 sensor!
  17. Ok, I'm jumpin in, Firstly.... Shawn... and others that think the XT is ugly/fugly... you guys suck, I hate you!:-p Second, the airplane theme.. think of the XT, hell any high dollar(inflation) Subaru in the past, all airplaney. XT's pods, SVX'es SVXness.... Actually when I first saw pics of this B9 I almost threw up.. BLEH! Then I was waiting in a dealer for the new parts guy to tell me my car doesnt come up in the system... wait maybe I was having my sweet STi key cut that wasn't ever going to work in my car.....but does:banana: either way I was stuck looking at this thing for a bit of time and I kinda like the look... really. The back end is euro Alfa.. kinda neat, almost like a built in spoiler, the inside is real cool and the front... well it needs love. I think though what really NEEDS to happen is to get rid of the CHROME! This isn't a 1990 Ford Crown Victoria... it doesnt need more Chrome to make it "fancy". I think if they made the trim body color or black, then made the grill fins black the carthing would look like 10 times better.
  18. If you want reliable and service headache free, get the EJ22 powered car.... You also, if you do your own work/drive high miles might also consider that the 96 and previous EJ22 was non interferance which means if the T-belt goes, no problems... 97 and newer have a chance to munch your motor.
  19. Usually non interferance has valve reliefs cut into the tops of the pistons. This creates a area that can consume compression and restrain powA! Anything 97 and newer will much the valves, so watch that maintance. You may think thats crappy, but its actually the way of things now a days, most companies do this. They just assume that you are not gonna own it forever and junk it if it gets to that point. The recxommended life of the T-belt is 60k or so, and I ve seen them go less but mostly without leaks and belt damage and stuff, they can go for MUCH longer... over twice that... Dont ask me how I know, I just do.:-\
