scrapdaddytatum replied to scrapdaddytatum's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...

the car 1990 xt6 manual trans, lsd, locking center, air ride, 16" rims, wrx brakes, intake and full exhuast, normally this is a solid car, no issues, clock work reliable the alt kicks the bucket i replace it, recharge battery and fire her up she is a little groggy but warms up ok i drive her to the store and back right when i get home i hear this loud buzzing, beebing sound and the check engine light comes on i disconect the battery and let her cool down hook the battery up and repeat, same ************ happens the motor will start loping and dipping, the light comes on and off the power steering light will flash intermitant during all this ive checked all the fluids, all the fusses, everything i can think to check, when she runs she runs great, then she just starts freaking out all ways with the beeping too, and the ecu never does anything but double flash green, nothing else im lost any help out there

dont need to turbo the xt6, the motor has tons of power and will easily run any other older subaru turbo or not.................dont destroy this rare car, ill buy it and you can go turbo a honda or something, xt6 are etting much harder to find and in good shape next to impossible, you can boost them but really whats the point, are you racing it or something?

how bout i drive over some gocarts with my wagon and then see if there are any ghosts in the woods , i got enough lighting to scare the dead, hehehehe i have for the buying, a complete front wrx brake upgrade for impreza i would like to sell, painted calipers, ebc pads, slotted rotors, with hubs, hubs have new bearings and seals, new axles, i want 200 firm for the setup, can bring to barbecue if anybody is interested, also have some random wrx and turbo ea82 stuff, would be happy to make some deals

no differences, except you dont have to find a 86.5 xt to get that engine from nice find and a great price, you might have wiring issues, but the harness from your gl-10 can be easily modified to fit that motor, longer throttle body wires, thats about it it might, and i mean just maybe have a diffent compression ratio but i doubt it

Wheel berring help please
scrapdaddytatum replied to espey_16's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well its a lot of work but this is what you need to do jack up and remove wheels 1 remove axles, 32mm and a punch, use the ebrake to hold in place will pulling 2 pull brakes off hubs(17mm, maybe 14mm),this will free up the rotor/stud plate-remove 3 remove tierods(17mm with cotter pins), ball joints (14mm, hub side) 4 loosen bottom strut bolts(14mm) and pull hub from car once the hub is off and on the ground you need to pull the seals then you can hammer out the bearings the bearing assem is a 3 piece deal inner and outer bearings and a center spacer if you use a punch you can tap out one side by going thru the one bearing and pushing aside the center spacer then flip over and tap out the other side use a large (32mm-36mm) socket and tap in the new bearings, big hammer dont forget the spacer, DONT FORGET TO PACK THE NEW BEARINGS WITH GREASE, they do not come packed, after you get the bearings in, you can install the seals, then its reverse order to put back together the manual says use a press for the bearings but i never have -
so if you take a lifted 84 wagon, and you take struts, hubs, axles, inner and outer tierods from a 89 rx( or any ea82 car) and add 1 3/4" to the factory ea81 lower control arms, and you get 3.5" more front track, with hopefully no drawbacks, im hoping to trail the wagon thursday on a supposedly very rough 2 hour climb, if i can find someone to weld up my lower control arms i made tonight ( i made the arms allready but just tacked them together, my welder is to light for these very seriuos welds) i cut the lower control arm and added 1/4" plate to make the extension, fully boxing the arm in the process, my bottom plate extends all the way to the ball joint mount, with everything bolted to the car it looked good, wheels sat flat, with about 2" sitting past the fender, but when i put the front driverside wheel up on the lift, it did not hit the fender, but the trail will tell the true story, but i think i figured it all out, im still thinking i might put a live rear axle in the rear, but that will have to wait for another week
