  1. a couple of notes for you nuts 3door coupes have a longer windshield, about 3 inches rx is same as 3doors piano wire and 2 screw drivers, 2 people and 20 minutes windshield out, if i need to explain what to do with the wire your screwed anyway and should have it installed for you go buy some urethane caulk, napa sells it, or buy the urethane cord, autozone/advance auto, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY CLEAN THE GUTTER WHERE THE OLD SEAL WAS, WIPE WITH ALCOHOL, SAND AWAY RUST, PRIME IT, DO WHAT EVER YOU HAVE TO, TO MAKE A SMOOTH CLEAN SURFACE FOR THE NEW GASKET, put the new seal in the cleaned up gutter install new glass, or junkyard glass, if junkyard clean the hell out of it too, and be nice and easy, press from the center of the glass, both people, and kind of jiggle it, this sets the seal, dont press near edges, it will crack, put some masking tape top and bottom, leave a window cracked, sont slam a door for 2 days, i have swaped dozens of WS, and have never had a problem
  2. ea82 front struts, hubs, brakes, had to use ea82 outer tie rod ends, and ea81 top hats on the struts, minor drilling reqd, custom braket to hold d/r shift rod, my auto wagon didnt have the mount(built into the floor pan) and minor triming to hole for shifter, i used the boot mount plate as a stincel, new axles all round, using a vlsd in the rear, ea82 rear disc conversion, just got a roof rack from tthe yard, and am doing the conversion to power windows and mirrors, also doing the power steering, just droped in a rebuilt ea81 with weber and completely demmisioned, removed the plates from the exhuast, witch gave me better ground clearence with the exhuast, im making a new rear pipe tucking it as high up as i can, im making my skid plate from old saw mill blades, they are 4' in diameter and 1/4 thick, not to heavy, not to thin, i fitted the alt from my impreza in there and did a dual battery set up, with isolater, i now have 5 sets of fog lights, 1 powered bazooka(subwoofer) new speakers all round, sony head unit, cb, satalite radio, gps, 5000lb mile marker winch, custom front bumper, all acceries are runnning of the second battery, thats all for now
  3. first just snaged a 83 ea81, auto 2wheel, im taking the power windows mirrors and steering, everything else is availible, very minimal rust, also found a second on thats gl 4wd, very little rust, wagon, d/l 4 speed, now to the other discovery 2 junk yards located in central virginia, one is leons, properly Leon's Auto Parts located in leon, virginia, 22725, 1-540-547-2366, its a pull it your self, with really odd hours, open from 8am till 12 noon, you must be there by 10am to get in, they have about 15-20 ea81 cars, coupes, wagons, brats, the works, quite a few with power windows and dual ranges, didnt see any turbo ea81, and about 10-15 ea82 cars all wagons, i saw a set of ea81 h alloys, and ttop brat with massive brush guard, the other yard would be Daves Ferncliff, located in ferncliff virginia, they have about 15-20 ea82 cars, wagons mostly, 434-589-3642, www.ferncliffauto.homestead.com, strange hours, but open sat and sunday, both these yards are run by there name sakes, leon and dave, both real cool guys, dave is a maniac with some crazy yard cars, both are pull it yourself, sign in yards, if going to leons bring bug spray and a mechette, we thought about bring a weed wacker next time, i was thinking a chain saw, leons is over 100 acre's daves is pretty small,
  4. i didnt read the whole post but the pug rims sit out further than stock subie ones, that would be the real problem, take a piece of metal that is round like the fender and literally pull the fenders out, 1/2 " will do the trick
  5. very mod-able, as with all ea82t, numbers of 200hp are possible with the right build up, i also havve a rx fitted wagon, on the dyno i got 204hp, i also spent 2 grand on the engine, you decide if its worth it, im am real happy though, i can stomp any honda and i have spanked down wrx's before too
  6. so with all the parts laying around i decided to try some part swaping on my 84 ea81 wagon, i managed to fit a set of rx struts to it, and gained another 2" of ride hieght and a softer??? spring, i dont know why its softer but it is, i gianed 1" more travel, and my 27" tires dont rub, when i gas it, it rises up 2-3" in the front, sucks for night driving, you blind the car in front, this week i will be fitting, ea82 front hubs,, for the bigger brakes, in the rear i took the entire swing arm from a rx and bolted it to the ea81 cross members, they fit very well, minor grinding for brake line clearence, so its got rear disc, im using 73 chevy rear shocks, no need for the lift spacer, these shocks are longer, im also making 3" spacers to raise the engine back up so i can run the exhuast above the crossmember and completey tuck it up under the car, then use a 2" spcer on the transmision, thus getting a good drive shaft angle to the rear end, i think i can creat the best undercareage clearence, and also get a better stick shift position, im also thinking about making new control arms that are longer and run ea82 axles, getting better trackwidth, i have figured out how to use ea82 power steering and as soon as i make the new pump bracket that part will be done, im considering switching to ea82 engine and diff lock 5speed, i dont have any ideas about raising the rear up, except more blocks, but maybe a conversion to live axle rear, this would not be hard, a 3link setup and coilovers, a slipper drivshaft would be needed, maybe mod one from a chevy, any other ideas............
  7. try custum mounting, bending/welding a sway bar IS A VERY BAD IDEA
  8. how about i take this spare rx kit i got and screw it onto my 84 gl wagon i dont think i would leave it on, it would just get trashed wheeling, but i think i can do it to please yall, now all i have to do is make the pc work with thte camera again, they dont like top talk....
  9. well in reality just about all ea81, ea82, ej series axles are almost the same i have put ea82 into ea81 and vice versa and fitted ej impreza axles to ea81 as well, turbo axles and non turbo axles are different but ej axles are like turbo ea82, i have a driveshaft from a imprez in my rx wagon, i did it becouse i needed to, it isnt any better, now ej c/v's are better than ea's but not by much

  19. no pictures yet, there is 6" of snow here, at 8am this morning a 2000 olds alero ran a stop sign and got in my way, i was doing 25 mph, had no time to brake, i was in fulltime 4low, with the difff locked, like i said 6" of snow and more coming, i hit the olds in the passenger front door, totaly crushing the entire pass side, the door was pushed so far in the the passenger front seat was folded in half, the olds is totaled but was able to be driven away, the guy got a ticket for failure to yeild and is totally insured, now for the rx wagon, not that bad actually, driverside marker and turn signal busted, hood, both fenders, bumper, grill, all busted, headlights ok, radiator is ok as i have electric fans, the motor will not start, i think it jumped timing, is there a fuel cut??, the front is pushed in, the electric fan is 1/8th from the water pump pulley but no interference, the driverside rad hose might have pushed the timing cover but i couldn't tell as the hood would not go up, the frame rails ahead of the strut towers is tweaked to the passenger side about 2-3 inches, maybe less, there is no damage past the strut towers, and doors back including windshield are good, nada says my cars is worth 2600.00, high retail, and it is a very solid clean car, there is also no damage to the suspension or driveline, wheels are untouched, anybody delt with insurance companys on fixing there older subarus, are they going to total my car?? i am not giving up now, i spent the last year and a half building it and it was supposed to get painted next week, DAMN, i promise to all you guys i will not give up!!, but just to get the jump on things i need a hood, fenders, grill, trim, bumper, in great shape, no rust, no damge, i dont mind little dings, but nothing more than hail damage please, would prefer parts in virginia, so i could just pick them up, i have a front sub frame, thats perfect, but i need the body parts, any help out there??????? oh and last night i installed 2 6.5 subs in the rear cargo spot in the floor and a 50 x2 amp in the driverside stow hold, works great, i need a radio plate for the dash any body got one, to hold a single din cd player????
