Air hose - where to get a good one like the super mechanics have.
We used to have a really good hose at the service center I used to work at. It was nice and thick, but still flexible, I think it was harbor freight it looked just like this.http://m.harborfreight.com/38-in-x-50-ft-premium-rubber-air-hose-61939.html?utm_referrer=direct%2Fnot%20provided

1990 Legacy Sedan Back Seat Fold Down?
mikaleda replied to ihaveacar's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI used to have a 90 sedan, when I scrapped it out, the seats were bolted in. The upper part has two bolts holding it on and two tabs. Even removing the upper part of the seat will not give access to anything there is a metal support rod and cardboard behind. The seats do not fold on the sedan.

Thinking about this Outback...
mikaleda replied to Stevo F's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSounds like a good car that's been taken care of. Worst case scenario the head gaskets go out in another 75k miles then either do them again or swap an ej22 in (really easy swap) I would jump on it personally.

98 Subaru Forester Brake Issues
mikaleda replied to amishbearcrimes's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI don't remember the order exactly, but Subaru abs bleed procedure is wierd. I think it goes right rear, left front, left rear and right front. I'm not positive, though its been a while since I've had to bleed a system with abs.

1991 Legacy has issues with starting. I've tried EVERYTHING!
mikaleda replied to OldSubaru1's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe injectors are a side feed style and when the o rings on the injector start to leak it will cause it to leak fuel into the cylinders causing flooding. When you are opening the throttle to get it started your putting the ecu into a clear flood mode and then it takes a while to clear the excess gas out. The easiest fix is to swap in a set of used injectors with rails and all.

awd failure 2000 legacy outback 2.5auto
mikaleda replied to wastedwood's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIs there a FWD light on on the dash? Not sure if this model has it, but some have a fwd fuse that when inserted puts the trans into front wheel drive mode. Is there any flashing lights? Is the check engine or at temp light on? Does the rear end catch up if the front end slips for a bit? Sometimes there is a delay in awd engament, which can be caused by old fluid or I believe your model year people have had good luck with trans-x additive treatment.

rear axle bearing drivers side
mikaleda replied to soopsoop's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXShould be a hub assembly. It shouldn't be to hard, but then again that also depends on how rusty it is. I've had to use a puller and a BFH to get them out sometimes. Then again most of the time I've been able to get them out with little effort. They are definatly not the notoriously hard bearings of the older gen Subaru's.

Replacing Spark Plug Tube Seals 1990 Legacy LS Sedan
mikaleda replied to northwestguy1's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXCould also be filler tube gasket leaking. 90 doesn't have spark plugs running through the valve cover so there aren't any tube seals

1995 EJ22 quick start up question
mikaleda replied to SUBARU3's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXCould be a faulty ecm coolant temp sensor reading it as colder than it really is. The two prong temp sensor is the one that goes to the ecm, try replacing it.

Parts geek dot com is a freaking ripoff.
mikaleda replied to shoebee2's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYa that's the problem with ordering online. I've used partsgeek.com once and I bought a o.e. Bosch front o2 sensor for a 99 outback for $50 free shipping which was a third of what it was anywhere else. I didn't have any issues though so I might have just been lucky.

Good tools or cheap tools
I run a 5ah battery and Ive had it for about a year and charged it three or four times. Before I bought this one I would have totally agreed with you, but this one has seriously impressed me. I just used it to do a rear wheel bearing on a 97 impreza and it pulled the 32mm nut off like it was nothing and presssed the bearing our like it was nothing. Oh and that is another tool I highly recommend now that I've tried it out is OTC's hub grappler. Awesome tool makes doing wheel bearings a lot easier.

Lessons Learned - Clogged Catalytic Converter
mikaleda replied to brus brother's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIts a ford the problem is circled on the front jk I've actually seen that happen a few times, no real reason why but the honeycomb style catillist the domestic car manufacturers use will do this.

mikaleda replied to mikaleda's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe snow definatly slowed me down, I had to stop a couple times because my knees were frozen. And about 1hr is cussing the engineer that designed this.
