  5. then just deal with some of the ins and outs.... you are acting lke there is no solution to your quandry.or like you already have one.then why did you ask?ya know.... i say you just go to a strut spacer that you can make yourself, and buy the tires you want, instead if the tires you should get, or have to get.... your right, they are expensive.and it is a big decision.and should be bought proper the first time...cheers, brian

i started out with a HF machine.POS. my lincoln 140 is awesome.110....i use it fcaw. everything i have welded for the past two years has stayed.and i have used it on 1/4 plate ...... i know guys that have used them to build their entire offroad rig that gets way more abuse than any ************in subaru known to man, rally included. so whatever.it depends on your weld...... if you have inclusions, undercuts, etc...(those are types of weak areas in the weld) then you will not get the full psi out of the weld. now, if it was a perfect bead it would maintain that. just FYi, the innershield .035 wire by lincoln(who invented the process) is good to 70 thousand PSI basically , if you lay down a good weld, ugly or not, it will hold to 70 psi. my brother (a union ironworker)and i were just talking about this last night. there are different ways to prep your piece to insure proper penetration. this is very important when dealing with a smaller machine.or , when you are dealing with slightly thicker material than you are accustomed to. i would not use my HF welder for anything anymore, cept maybe a doorstop....cheers, brian
  7. The worry is that tires aren't cheap. It's a risk thing. I can't afford to take any risk whatsoever with my tires. I can't afford to replace them. This is my daily driver. If I killed a tire, I couldn't drive to work. If I can't get to work I can't pay my rent. It's just minimizing risk. the sure fire way to minimize risk , is to stop wheeling.period.
  8. yeah, but if you worry your toaster is going to catch on fire you spend every morning cleaning it instead of enjoying the toast... and if you cannot afford to fix things that go wrong, maybe you should not be modifying your car.its irresponsible, and puts others into a position where they are liable for your mistakes. just my 2 cents.cheers, brian
  9. and there is difference in ea81 and ea82 series front bars..........and , just measure your bar. just clean of a good spot, caliper it , and read.....simple.cheers, brian

  20. yeah, he is my hero.i am actually looking for him sos i can get the schematics from him.i figure a powerglide with a diviorced t-case would be sweet.using it would give you multiple ranges like a twin stick... i found a guy on nasioc that put a powerglide in a rock buggy....sounds like the way to go to me cheers, rbain
  21. actually, the reasr spline output on the 4eat body is exactly the same as the input for the tx10 transfer case. i started researching this last year.from what i found there is not a cheap way to make the adapter for the 4eat to tx10 union. however i do not think it would be diffucult in a proper shop... the down side to all of it, is that nissan transfer case rigs are not popular , so the same prob remains.no aftermarket. there are gear sets for the tx-10 and they are spendy as hell.like 1200 bucks .the positive side to it is that it is a 2.something low....... the next step iun my evolution with the research was to get a nissan pathfinder version(with tx10 attached) and see if the bellhousing could be swapped with the subaru trans..i have a resource for this, just have not had the extra scratch yet... be cause it truly is the mainbody of the trans that is the same between the two. the new path i am on is a powerglide........ if you have any questions on my research, let me know. cheers, brain
  22. "When i first came across this website i thought it was great, but now its just a competition of "who knows what and who doesnt"...... lame" it's ego....i've done this and that....etc.....no one wants to believe there is more than one way to skin a cat.because their way is best!that is why i always tell peole to try things.if it does not work then you at least know why. therre are folks on here(myself included) that have tried a million different things, and spent alot of money trying them. they will mostly tell you there experiences and let it be.therre are others that want to believe that there way is proper because it is tried and true, and there is no reason to spend money on R&D because they already know what youa re trying to figure out.that is all fine and well, except it usually leads to pissing contests... i think your right though, it is getting lame..... i for one know that my ************ doesna stink, and all you mutha ************ers don't know diddly.... sorry for the hijack.cheers, brian
  23. ah ************ it, i'm goin back to ea81's......:lol:at least until i can afford an ej d/r.cheers, brian
