  1. Now thats HOT!!! Not going to be that drastic with mine though. ..yet
  2. I think for the first time in my life I actually wish for some snow...we had a dusting the other day..but I want to play with the 4WD of my XT6...I have never had a 4WD Subaru before...Nothing prettier then a happy Subaru in the snow
  3. Yup He has come through a few times..You going to bring that beautiful sedan down to Carlisle??Come on..you know you want too:grin: BTW Dave and Melis may be coming up in the next week or so to help me out on some bugs on the XT6...you are welcome to head over this way if you want...I always supply food LOL
  4. Just trying to embarrass Dave alittle bit here...But he bailed me out of my own idiotness without making me feel any worse. Long Story short..Giving Rocky the XT6 a much needed tune-up and cleaning out the IAC ( to hopefully stop the stalling) and replacing the serpentine belt (which squealed like a pig in heat )..I got the old belt off without to much touble.( it was chewed up pretty bad ) Was going to Call subeman90 to bring over his big crow bar...inside joke that I have pictures of if needed;) . I get the new belt on and cant get the tensioner to tighten...OK major delema here!!! what to do what to do...make a phone call to PA and the XT6 masters for help ( I have no manuals so I am working blind here) Basically Dave asks if I loosened the nut on the face of the pulley.....DOH!!! :banghead: Gee..2 minutes later...all fixed. No more squeaky squeaky prrrrs like a kitten now...wont know if it is still stalling for a bit yet but everything seems to be better now...Just waiting for a couple parts yet and hopefully Rocky will be in 98% working order ...then comes the fun part...taking the ugly outta him ( body work before Carlisle !!) Thanks Dave!!! Nice to know there are people just a phone call away:grin:
  5. Thats one thing I like about white cars...its easy to repaint parts without too much attention being drawn to the spot...Bucky has more rattle can painted spots on him...but its hard to tell unless you are up close and personal. I like the idea of the trucke bedliner stuff...might jusy have to use that around the bottom of the XT6. I would say to come on over and use our heated garage but that would be abit of a hike:)
  6. I want PICS!!! And Congrats..I know Hildy is thankful!!
  7. on Hildy!! Its a good feeling huh?? Once I get Rocky into the Garage tomorrow ( couldnt today cause Tommy claimed it for his bike)and give him his tune up..Bucky is getting relocated inside where its nice and dry and warm. Gonna miss my boy and his quirkiness but thats what i love about him. And thanks for the compliment... I try to do my best for my cars and keep them looking as good as possible..want them to represent in a good way:grin:
  8. I did the timing belts last year and had the entire engine resealed and rebuilt the oil pump..and I know all about the cam seals...a mechanic friend of mine discovered the oozy head gasket....also you have to understand the history of this car...it was a fleet car and then a rental for awhile...not to mentioned wrecked at least once..it was not treated nicely until I bought it. As for the 4WD swap...you guys keep trying to talk me into that huh?? ..But I have a 4WD Subaru now..my XT6..and I am having someone custom make a front bull bar and want to add 2 off-road lights to it...then its planned to be painted OMG Bright Yellow and black...want to keep Bucky more "mellowed"
  9. I had a very similar problem with my 92 Loyale..Mine was a bad battery terminal but I can tell you the other problems it could be...check your grounds..sounds like a bad connection somewhere..to the starter maybe.. Good Luck
  10. Matt...2 steps ahead of you..put both cars under ultimate subaru:grin:
  11. Thanks...Bucky has just been a fantastic little car....bought him 4 years ago from a dealer for $600. I have always tried to keep up on his appearence.Always try to stay one step ahead of the rust...I actually take pride in this car...he has been shown twice and the kids were fasinated by the spare under the hood thing. It pains me very badly to retire him for a bit...But his motor is still good and strong..leaks like crazy and has a mildly oozing head gasket( lucky its an external leak) The EJ22 is just a thought...its hard to give up my 40+mpg highway. BTW..I happen to be very very partial to this EA82 wagon body style:grin:
  12. I took Hocrests Princess around the block one day ( his SVX) I dont ever want handed they keys to one of them ever again....pure joy and love...absolutely amazing..If I had one I would get in too much trouble. But I feel that before getting one they should be fully researched..LeakingOil has told me the down falls of having one (either hard to get parts for or just incredably expensive). But I still say..one of the most amazing cars ever built
  13. If money allows I have some plans for Rocky;) But I doubt I will be able to have him painted by then Tommy and me have agreed on his new color scheme...OMG bright Yellow with alot of black ( roof, wide racing stripe on hood, black rear wing once I get one,and the side stripe we want black also). For now I am glad his is the color of shiney primer...makes touch ups on the body easier. I figured I would reserve the campsight just incase....or if we use it I am sure its big enough to fit one or 2 others on the sight...its a just in case thing.
  14. We are heading down to the DMV alittle later today to get Rocky Registered and everything and once we come back I will finish up some repairs on him ( cleaning the IAC, and giving him a tune up and some belt replacements) then he is going to be my primary while Bucky gets moved into the nice warm Garage. Plans are to basically ...replace his entire brake system, since it has been nothing but trouble for the past 3 years, reboot one axle and replace the other, fix some underbody rust ( the rear wheel well stuff)pull the motor again and replace the totally shot throw-out bearing ( 201,000 miles its time to go),new tires, fix his sloppy shifter and some of the bad controllers on the interior...and hopefully he will be ready by spring to be back on the road strutting his beautiful self again (sorry everytime I look at him I get a tear cause he is just so pretty). I have been thinking though ...( thats scarey) of possibly ...just possibly..doing an.......EJ22 swap on him. Because,I am being told that once I get used to driving Rocky and the power difference between that ER27 and the EA82 is so much different ( I have already discovered that ..ppprrrrrrrrrrr). That going back to an EA82 is hard. So I was thinking..EJ22 in a light little FWD EA82 body would be very very much the improvement..and the EJ22 is such the bullet proof motor ( if I have read right) that this might be a smart move yes?? Would I have to change the tranny to swap out the motor?? Anyway...I will miss my beloved driving buddy of almost 4 years..but I truely believe he understands...he seems to like Rocky to....But come on...isnt Bucky just one of the prettiest little EA82 wagon???
  15. The is just one of the prettiest little roos I ever saw!!
  16. If you use your cars names enough everyone just gets to know them by thier name...Most people here know when I mention something being wrong with Bucky that its my 92 Loyale wagon..when I mention Rocky they are starting to know he is my new-to-me 88 XT6. Then there was Lucky LeCoupe..an 82 GLF ...and my friends are jsut as warped..we Have Shel and Becca and Ellie ( we love Ellie ) and Princess ( another xt6,a Brat,a Legacy and an SVX).. You want to meet an interesting group of people..check out our thread on the Import car show at carlisle..all are welcome..so Enter Sarah and bring her down!!
  17. Entry is off in the mail gone bye bye committed now...entered both Rocky and Bucky and also reserved a camp sight if we need it later.
  18. Shame you are not closer..I could take that board to work and fix it for you ( been manufactuing circiut boards since 1990.) I just repaired Tommys battery back-up for his puter. If you can find it..there is product called Conform-a-Coat...you spray on both sides of the board ( heavily) and it basically makes it water and moisture resistant. It is fine for boards to get wet as long as no power gets to it before its dry. ..The only thing that truely looks bad bad is a blown diode...A stiff bristles plastic brush and some alcohol should clean most of the corrosion off. As for windsheild frame rot...I believe that is what is going to be the final dimise of my Bucky..I have been keeping up with it via silicone sealer and bondo but I know the window should be pulled out and it fixed right. Good Luck! edit...just noticed one of the leads blown off one of the resistors too
  19. Paul..I can enter Bucky too and decide later if he is ready for the trip down ( dont forget Tommy refuses to drive Bucky...and he has shown next to no desire to try out Rocky either:rolleyes: ) Like I stated I am going to get a camp sight to so that will be available..wether we use it or not Sending this all out tomorrow ( I just finished my taxes and lookin good for $$ to get stuff done to both Buck and Rock  )
  20. I am planning on putting new plugs in my XT6 this weekend and possibly turning the idle up a hair..but it has this problem with stumbling at stops....if you dont feather the gas. It will idle all day no problem and let you rev him up ...but this problem only occurs when the car is moving...any ideas?? Thanks in Advance
  21. I am commiting myself this weekend and sending off my entry registration...I will also put in for a campsight...guess I should get my rear in gear and get rocky together..May isnt too far away
  22. 80% of the time my old FWD Loyale would do better in the snow then others AWD and 4WD SUVs...at my old apt..everyone would wait to see if I got out first ( they never plowed till about 3 in the afternoon) then they would use my tracks to get themselves out...Though I cant wait to try the XT6 in the snow AWD w/ diff lock:banana:
  23. Welcome to the board...though I keep to the older gen section.I have noticed the knowledge of this board can not be frowned upon...These people ( myself included) love these cars and many of them have been working and dealing with them since the 70s.Subarus are unlike anything else out there ...I too have owned a ton of cars ( well over 30) and did my thing with the muscle cars ( 66 289 Mustang,70 289 Mustang Coupe,71 Mach 1 w/ 428 CJ Blown,65 Galaxie 500 XL Convert, Plus Corvair Monza Spider Convert,65 Karman Ghia Convert..bla bla bla). I have also owned 5 Subarus now..and sometimes the same problem can have 10 different ways to fix it. Dont take anythign said personally, take it as advice. Nobody here has any malicious intent what-so-ever..we just want to help other Subie owners keep thier cars and themselves happy. And there isnt a better group of people on the planet;) Wow..96....and I thought Bucky was new ( my 92 Loyale )
  24. I usually just spray alittle PB Blaster around the hub...wait a minute and give it a good swift kick.Welcome to the world of Subarus...I have had my 92 Loyale for 4 years now and havent regretted it once ( and its just a FWD one) Treat it right and it will take care of you.
