  1. i usually use the butt of my sledgehammer handle to pound the axle out. yes, it's hard on the hammer
  2. how are the spfi injectors? a friend has a complaint about performance with his car and i'm going to help him shoot it.
  3. somebody said they just overtorque the bolts by 3-5 footpounds ( i think FP, not inchpounds) and "never look back", and have had good results. i'd get more info instead of trusting me though as i haven't put heads on an engine yet.
  4. whoops. see what happens when i post at 125am saturday morning . yeah, i meant crossover pipe, thanks skip.
  5. close. west guatemala here. or as we say back home, "el guat"
  6. you'll need the engine crossmember for the turbo too, to clear the downpipe.
  7. i've had my first EA81 car for almost 2 weeks now and i'm already in love with it. this is after 4 EA82 cars, 3 if you don't count the RX i bought just to part out. the engine bays are less cramped, there's no timing belts to worry about, you can still find parts fairly easy at the JY, and you can modify them for offroad use just as easily as an EA82 and with greater return on the effort on the 2 door hatch. I'm content to wait a while to fix my wagon
  8. ..at the thrift store. it's nearly the same color as my ripped up brown vinyl shift boot but it's leather. $3.00 for a DIY pre-aged leather shift boot ain't bad! pics when done.
  9. uh oh. can you drill new holes in the door?
  10. you might luck out and not get it totalled.. is the radiator and/or AC condensor OK? A bumper and a grille will be $60 tops from most parts yards.. but dennis has a nice 84 wagon in salem oregon FS.. http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10862&highlight=wagon
  11. sounds cool. when you deal with the front bumper, keep in mind that a bumper from an 87+ car will fit. it is a little longer but it is solid and won't collapse internally from a small impact. all you'll have to do is switch the turn signal wiring connectors. good luck!
  12. Thinking about de-turboing my wagon when I get ANOTHER new engine for it. Plans would be an SPFI short block and MPFI turbo heads with the oil and coolant lines for the turbo sealed off. Aside from yanking the turbo and getting a Y pipe or something, what else would I need to change besides the ECU? Thanks..
  13. not just my scalp hair either. it's like that all over.
  14. here's my picture. Location is Ainsworth Hot Springs near Nelson, B.C.
  15. what are you going to do with the roof? I want to weld in a T top roof eventually, in mine. I don't have a lot of $$ to allocate towards "t-top roof" at the moment, so if you'd like to try and make some funds off of it, i'm not your best bet, but i figured i'd speak up also, where did you make the cuts for it?
  16. i'm 5'5" and i fit fine. just cut him off at the shins and nickname him stumpy. and make sure it's an automatic
  17. I recommend a fumoto oil drain valve and an oil filter magnet.
  18. I say bedliner matched to the paint code!
  19. that's weird.. try putting the old coil back in, see what happens. gap your plugs down to .047 too.
  20. you should sell those on Ebay for all legacys and RETIRE!
  21. paint them gunmetal. really popular with the new import scene, but would look really nice with candy apple red.
  22. that is one of the coolest front bumpers i've ever seen!
