  1. Hi Paul.. do you want to trade my H-caps for that Brat step?
  2. that's a cool idea; i think the big question would be cost. a set of peugeots can be had for $12 a wheel at the right parts yard, and even if the costs for other wheels are the same as the spare widenings, there's the choice of wheel style. it would be good to know how much it costs though..
  3. heh. that isn't going to happen! something to think about.. unless you get a coil that was bad from the start, it's likely that the cause is due to the infamous old subaru grounding quality, or 20-25 year old wiring. adding a few extra grounds does wonders for old subarus!
  4. i put an accel 8140 coil in the brat as part of its complete welcome-to-the-stable tuneup.. it runs sooo nice. it got 23.5mpg, first half tank highway, second half tank heavy city driving, right before the coil upgrade. i can't wait to put a 5 speed and a built EA81 in there
  5. Mick, check your PMs asap please. I'll delete this after he does. that's weird, i can't delete it. anyone else is welcome to
  6. i'd like to say that the flaming twinky is uber cool. how could you give that up? put ads in all major newspapers on the I-5 corridor within whatever distance asking for sightings. post on all internet forums that could be related. you might consider a reward for locating it. good luck!
  7. yeah, it usually means swapping in just the RX transmission and the limited slip rear end. Also specific to the RX, however, are the sway bars, strut rods, and front struts/springs. i think the rear shocks are the same for all 4WD turbos with manual transmission? not sure about that. I bought a beater RX I found on a car lot just to part all of that out for my wagon. it handles a lot nicer now though i have a bigger XT6 rear sway bar in it, and i don't miss the front wheel drive at all. if you're considering this, then some of the shift linkage is different, and so is the electrical for the transmission and differential lock.
  8. napa oil is valvoline, no supposedly about it.
  9. don't mind skeet, he's from kentucky
  10. ok, maybe ask your boss about turning rotors.. i like to do them whenever i change pads though. at least put a lot of fresh disc brake compatible grease in there then. maybe take them out and clean and repack them, you lazy excuse for a subaru owner.
  11. the first thing i can think of is that you have to fink with the rear differential to get the sway bar in. so do all that stuff at once. and if you mean you're changing your front brake pads, have your rotors turned too. if you wanted to do your front wheel bearings, having the rotors and front axles out will be a good time to do them too. and you're going to love that XT6 rear sway bar.
  12. he's lying, he doesn't have any friends.
  13. i blame the timing belts. recheck the install. make sure all your ground wires are hooked up and in good condition, or better, upgrade them anyway. but i think it's the timing belts.
  14. you turboed a justy, you sick freak! i like it does it run yet? i thought that was an XT6 intake manifold in the first pic.
  15. yeah, my brat pings a little on 87 but did better on 89. have yet to try premium. premium should cost what regular costs now! it's horrible. i have a fresh tune up in there including 8mm wires. i'm tempted to buy an accel coil tomorrow but i shouldn't. shoulder angel says no, be good; shoulder devil reminds me that my income tax return deposited to checking today. damn that devil!
  16. that's a nice score.. even though you have some things to fix, you scored rear seats and a brushguard without even trying. congrats!
  17. don't forget the leopard print and disco ball. and mirrors.
  18. grab a fire extinguisher too while you're there
  19. not for long. i know the heater core has been explained well. there are some pictures floating around somewhere too. try a search.
  20. this was the high compression turbo wagon?
  21. i think the price is okay, especially if it is "everything" on the front like you said. I did notice a new oil pump in your list too. you might talk to the mech about the cam case thing too. see if he'd go $575 to do both of those in there as well. you would save money in the long run if you did all this stuff in class though. and if you did it in class, you could maybe swap in an SPFI short block and a weber, too
  22. hey Ken.. can you give us some details about how you mounted your XT6 seats in your brat? I haven't put my XT6 seats in my wagon yet, and i might put them in my brat instead... thanks
  23. aaah. so he needs to go to pull n save and dissect an SPFI throttle body. thanks
