  1. Snapped a WRIST PIN? Holy cow I have never seen a Subaru do that before and I have probably seen more torn down than anybody on the board minus 1-2 people TOPS. Snapped Rods, saw one with a cracked crank, 16 bent valves and cracked pistons....but never a wrist pin. Probably the strongest thing in the engine pound for pound! Would really love a picture of the carnage!!!
  2. They have definately seen a wheel before and will take a magnet to it. If it sticks you arent going to get much, if it doesnt you will.
  3. Put sealant on the round edge, mount them, dab a little on the flat edge and then install the Valve Cover promptly so the VC will hold them in place and they wont shift. Id let the engine sit overnight so they cure a little before starting it too.
  4. Ahoy to you SVC! Yes, me is the finerest drunkerest cellphoneerman. Can't help but laugh every time Joy tells me it has been 30 minutes now.
  5. Its a huge conversion to make a Syncro 7 seater into a Westy. But way easier to do that than make a 2wd into a Syncro (nearly impossible). The price isnt out of line IMO. I own an older 84 that has 30K on it and I wouldnt trade it for one with 130K. That really saves the interior to be lower miles like that. Thats a really straight van with low miles and nice shiny paint, lots of upgrades and the alloy wheels which are fairly common but not all in the same package. Finding another one in that condition in that location is going to be IMPOSSIBLE. You would find one out West but then would have to drive it across country (which wouldnt be bad in one of these vehicles). Remember, something is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it but it works the other way too...if you wouldnt sell yours for $22,000 but somebody pulled up at a gas station and offered you just that you would take it.
  6. Try Action. Its in Aurora on Colfax just West of Tower (Zeno). $1 to get in and its a pull a part.
  7. Links: You want an EJ22. Thats a 2.2L engine from a 90-94 Legacy. www.smallcar.com vendor with some of the nicest conversion pieces. www.kennedyeng.com vendor to get most of the kit pieces and supppliment with above and below vendors for a few nice upgrader pieces. www.mastercraftmotors.com Nice vendor with more reasonable prices than top guy place but smallcar has a nicer website. www.Subaruvanagon.com website with 2 enthusiests who describe the conversion and then a link to a Yahoo club that has lots of members. Just dont believe all that you read. If you want the wiring harness converted I do that. PM me.
  8. I made my own engine noises, no worries. Normally when I quote I remove the image from the quote but this car is too cool looking so I am leaving it! SEXY!
  9. $250 isnt bad if they lapped the valves, surfaced the heads and cleaned them. Its really hard to get carbon out of the ports on heads, especially ones that have carbon thats been in there that long.
  10. Wow nobody responded? Sorry to see that. Ill probably have to come up to where you are going for a few hours to BS.
  11. Flippin sweet! A Dyno chart in the old school USMB forum!
  12. A 95 Probably has auto hubs like my 89 Van does. It wants me to stop, switch the lever to 4H and then take off. I could scan my little card that fits in the sunvisor if you wish. Toyota can probably get an owners manual for around 12 dollars IIRC. On a side note I bet you are saving $$$ not having the WRX being an 18-19 year old male driver. That must have hurt bad to pay for.
  13. In most states you can go apply for a title for a lost vehicle. You might need a bill of sale from whomever you got the car from but other than that and a little cash its usually doable but may be time consuming. Check your states DMV websites.
  14. The truck models are VERY rare in the USA. Technically anything of the chassis that the Vanagon and truck/crew cab are built on is a "transporter" but I know what you mean.
  15. The early Vanagon conversions were EA81 and ea82 but they didnt prove to be as much of an improvement as the Ej22 over the Wasserboxer.
  16. Lots of people doing really well in Rally with NA Ej18 and ej22 imprezas. Its not all about power its about staying inside the cones, pushing the car to its limits without going too far and practice..... LOTS of it..
  17. Wasnt there a small difference in the front edge of the fenders where the marker light and trim go between the 2 headlight front and the 4 headlight front ends and such?
  18. These work in Colorado too. Make them family events with a Subaru theme of sorts and you get better turnout too.
  19. That is so hot. The replacement part should definately be painted yellow.
  20. Take it from me, part out your East coast mobile and put the parts on a Wyoming car. Rust is a cancer, parts move faster than rust can be treated.
  21. Its a shame that all the VW ones were destroyed (aside from a select 1-2). They were like "watervagon" or something along those lines.
