  1. Take it from me, part out your East coast mobile and put the parts on a Wyoming car. Rust is a cancer, parts move faster than rust can be treated.
  2. Its a shame that all the VW ones were destroyed (aside from a select 1-2). They were like "watervagon" or something along those lines.
  3. Ive got a towbar if you want to bring that Brat back down the hill with you.
  4. I saw Andrew on Thursday and he crashed here at Otis st Ranch for the night. Havent heard from him since though and he left 3 computer+cell phone cables behind. And a set of Seats for one of his project cars but I assume that was because of space constraints.
  5. You missed it by a month. When I lived in Iowa I would travel to the West coast one. Its worth it. I am sure the East coast one would be too.
  6. 9506 Otis St Westminster CO 80021 NE thing except Potato Salad is fair game.
  7. Smallcar sells a hall speed sensor or KEP's instructions show you how to make one with the device that is inline with the speedo cable under the pedals next to your spare tire. My ej22 swap would die at idle without speed sensor but alot of people have no problems with a lack of speed sensor. Id want one on a turbo swap though, lean/rich gamble without it IMO.
  8. The cat is ruled out with a vac gauge. Borrow one from a parts store with their loaner program. 15psi vac at idle is good. Im thinking fuel, like clogged/rusted pickup in the fuel tank or bad gas. When it wont start check for spark, rule that out and move on to fuel.
  9. Straight brat in the lot ?
  10. Lets tick off my neighbors with a bunch of Subarus on my street in honor of McBrat being in town. Shall we do another potluck grillout?
  11. I believe people were using Jetta tach setups in the clock hole. On my 84 I just put a Monster tach in next to the instrument cluster. Its awful huge but you cant mistake a redline.
  12. Be a lot easier on a coupe than a Wagon. Theres so much more room inside the door to manuver the pieces. You will want somebody to help hold the glass up while you manuver things and bolt things up. Then getting the pieces all aligned is kindof annoying but still doable.
  13. Wanted to, but small fortune to drive out there. Sorry.
  14. Wyoming, New Hampshire?
  15. Writeup looks perfect to me. Ive done a ton of these jobs and thats exactly how I have done it. I do now have access to a fancy tool that presses the bearings in/out of the car ON the car now so I do it that way but theres nothing wrong with this writeup...great for home mechanic.
  16. I will change board names for people. Id prefer they stick with a name if they have been around for quite a while and everybody "knows" them but its up to the user. I don't really want to deal with 15000 requests but if yours changed PM me and I will do my best. Be sure to check to make sure somebody doesnt already have the name. You can do that by trying to PM your new screenname and the box will suggest the names from its "dictionary" of usernames. I appreciate the comments on the cleanliness of the board. I can't take the credit though its our well behaved users and a moderator team (that some of you might not like at times but they mean well) that keep it clean. For the most part anymore I am kindof assuming a Supreme court sort of position where I weigh options that the moderators and users suggest and try to pick whats best for the board. McBrat doing alot of this job as well, hats off to him!
  17. Who owns the orange brat? (Asking because I love it!)
  18. I can make the engine run but the tranny I haven't a clue if I can make it work. Have you considered doing a 5 speed manual trans swap?
  19. Shipping both ways is probably around 250 or so, freight is pretty reasonable these days. Call for an exact quote. CCR closes at 3 Mtn Time.
  20. What a find! Prime the oil pump! Crank the engine with the ignitor disconnected until the oil light goes out. Reconnect and start engine. If I was going to switch to Mobil 1 I would go for around 15-20K miles first.
