Sounds cool to me. Im in. -
Ill be the one to pick who's riding shotgun for that rare trip. No offense meant this time Jeff. (Rare to be nice to Jeff here). So other than this cliff what else will be encountered on Redcone trail that makes it a 10/10?

Anybody have RC cars to bring to WCSS9?

Cool factor would be an RC Subaru climbing a REAL Subaru. -
West Coast Subaru Show 9 is set!!
ShawnW replied to West Coast Subaru Show's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I am going to try to do it this year. Its a monumental year for me as the car I aquired a day after WCSS3 is now operational and I want to bring it back to Washington to show it off. -
I didnt say I won't do it I said I wanted to go look at what all the fuss is about and I won't be doing "the cliff" in my wagon but rather in one of those 200 dollar regular ol GL's I find off Craigslist with some rust in the rockers and all that. Trim/remove the fenders, upgrade the brakes, upgrade tranny, add welded rear end and head up there with a helmet on and friends along that will pull your unconcious body out of the car when you roll end over end a few times. Heheehe. Ill laugh now and pay later. Not suicide, controlled happy death.

When I go up there it won't be in my wagon. Ill be taking a real beater roo up there. Im up for going up there just not down "the cliff" as somebody at the meet described it.

Jeff its the driver of your car that seems to beg for tickets. I know lots of XT and XT6 owners that avoid them real easily.

CCR doesnt post prices on its website. This is because every customer is different and every engine request is different. Remember there are this many EJ22's out there: 1-90-94 2-95 2-95 with EGR port on the head 3-96-00 or so. (single port exhaust) On top of that there has to be a core factored in. Whether or not you have one or not, or what might be internally damaged on yours. Excluding a giant hole in the top of the block there usually isn't going to be something that makes you have to pay a core fee but again, they need to discuss with you "what happened to your old engine". And they have to ship the engine to you so quotes have to include shipping. So call for quotes. Emily and Terry like talking to you.

What about meeting at the Rallycross on the weekend of the 21st/22nd of April? -
Me like huge group photo picture...in case anybody is wondering I counted 164 SUBARUs (and they dominated the meet and dominate AWDPIRATES.net at the meet but all the same theres a ton of people here: I especially enjoy the little fact that the Brats are all by themselves in this photo as if to give the notion that the rest of the cars are afraid of them.

Me gots some pics. Will put them in my gallery in a few minutes. After the meet I went up to BeauJo's (but way later than the WRX crowd had) and had some pie and then headed up toward Eisenhower tunnel to see how the wagon does on power. Real good IMO. Coming back the ski traffic was horrible so I took the frontage road and I am really glad I did. I went thru what I think is downieville on the South side of I-70 on the frontage road is a nice older guy that has 4 Brats sitting outside his place. Stopped and talked to him and got to see some of his handywork. He's got various 82-84's and one that he has almost completed an ej22 swap on. I told him I would see about "bringing" a meet up to him so maybe a few of us could run up that way with our toys and check out the Brats. He refers to himself as a hermit of sorts and doesnt like to get out much but would love to meet you guys and your rides. Im thinking, lets head up his way soon and then go up the road to Grey's peak to see how far we can get. I approached the road myself and was not about to try it without some backup along (heck I didnt even have a shovel along).

Be my own cherry picker: Really possible?
ShawnW replied to DerFahrer's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Good to hear you got it out. Not surprised you needed 3 ppl. Ive done it with 2 but wouldn't again. Your back like said above IS precious. Get a come a long and use the garage rafters to assist you and your friend while pulling it out. Don't TRUST it just allow it to do the work and be there in case the cable snaps or something happens. -
On my hatch the guy that inspected under the hood insisted that I had plugged off the Air Suction valves or something because the idle was far too smooth...he had owned one of the exact car before and "knew something was up".

Exhaust probably cuz if flexes a little. ...intake is too narrow. -
So... Replaced Fuel tank. Original had completely rusted internally from sitting so long. Rookie mistake for sure....I had filled it at one time to prevent this but I didn't catch it early enough. Old fuel had turned BRIGHT red. Passed Emissions!!! I pulled into the Emissions testing facility and they have you pop the hood. I expected some sort of UHM?!?! but nothing. The guy looked at the engine compartment for almost 3 minutes and then walked over to me slowly. Oh @%$! I was thinking. His only statement was "damn that is a clean engine" and he shut the hood. Car fast passed in 90 seconds, the guy said it was the only car all day to do that that wasn't an OBDII. Ive got 2 CEL codes to eliminate but for now the car is running great. I think its safe to sell the hatchback now. Yeti: Lets make the tunes improve. I gotta drown out some engine noise. Oh and maybe...a little "paint" touchup?

I am using the ea81T one on mine and my coworker Adam and I put his in the water crossover pipe. What we did was use an EJ22 turbo crossover which has additional spots for sensors....One side has them angled up and has the sensors and the other side has the places where the NA sensors would be normally. Leave the sensors in the turbo side and tap out the ones on the NA side for your EA sensor to thread into. Use liquid teflon tape to seal any imperfections. Both of our gauges read perfectly. Of course any lack of coolant in EITHER setup is going to make the gauge worthless. Be sure to pressure test your cooling system before driving it far. The EJ engines overheat RAPIDLY when theres any sort of leak.

Comparing the ej20 open deck to the 2.2 open deck is far from apples to apples. The reinforcement between the liners in the center is far thicker and stronger on the ej20 than the 2.2 open deck...for that reason its alot closer to being closed deck than the 2.2NA is.

Replaced bad TPS and adjusted the used TPS I put on in its place. Adjusted out really nicely but still not helping unfortunately. CEL is not on and hasn't come on yet. I tested its functionality though by unplugging the TPS while the car runs and immediately the engine light comes on. The car falls flat on its face for some reason and I can't figure it out. Tonight I tried replacing all the gas with fresh and that didn't help for more than a few minutes. Screw that screw in ALL the way??
