Clutch going? Valves floating? OR just old Loyale?
MorganM replied to SubeeTed's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Don't junk it till it spews oil and coolant from every orface As for the temp I'd say quit slacking. New radiator, new hoses, new coolant, new clamps (clamps are so key) All of those chores are easier then changing a thermostat. See if your budget will alow for a 2 row radiator; your Loyale will love you! The surging is kinda funny. Lets get some more details on this. When you say surge are you just talking about RPMs coming up w/o you moving the throttle? Are you talking about an electricity surge at the volts meter? All electrical componets surging? Any thing else weird? -
My struts were a bit difficult to get back in w/o the ball joints undone. I had a heavy frend stand on a crowbar to bend down that control arm/knuckle/etc and slip everything back in Glad to hear you got it all slapped together! You will be grinning for weeks once those BFG ATs are on! Get it DIRTY!

Has anyone ever put a EA motor on a Motorcycle?

Ya those flat 6's are kinda neat. Love those 'spider' intakes on them All polished up fancy and such! -
Do you have that computer subiemech was talking about? Sounds like someone above already axed the emissions BS on a feedback system and still runs fine. PM him for some details!

well you can do either. Just pull it out of gear, coast and use your brakes. You could also hit your brakes in 3rd to slow down a little, clutch in, shift to 2nd and slowly let out the clutch. Don't just throw it in 2nd from 3rd at 50 MPH That's why I say let the clutch out slowly. If your RPMs start coming WAY up, and fast, befor the clutch is even out all teh way; then you know it was too early to go into 2nd and you need to clutch back in and use your brake.

i need help on a manual
MorganM replied to sethpistol1's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
just pull it out of gear and use your brakes. 1st gear is for getting moving rom a stop or to save your rump roast from getting stuck! in a parking lot if you really need to crawl then you can slip it down into first but you have to be moving VERY slowly. you wont even think about it in no time -
This week at the Carbola, subaru projects

Might want to sneak food and rest in that busy schedule Good luck! -
I see almost 80% middle aged to older people dirving subaru outbacks (sedan and wagon), foresters and sport wagons. I'd guess a pretty even mix male/female. Mostly young males (but quite a few young females) driving impreza RS, wrx and sti models. I agree with Legacy777. The new ad campign sucks ballzak. What's this silly 'driven by whats inside' junk? Who is that dork on a bike endorsing stuff? Who cares? Subaru started a trend and they need to make ppl aware that they started it and they are still leading teh way. Nobody cared about SUVs or cars with 4WD untill Subaru started pumping out 4WD wagons. When they got Paul Hogan to say 'the worlds first sport utility wagon' they werent kidding. Thats right to the point and its the truth. That ad campaign did so much for them. Sales really picked up in that era for outback wagons and impreza sport wagons. I think if you could get back to focusing on what Subaru is all about you would really have a good campaign. Subaru to me is AWD/4WD, Utility, Tons of options/features, and TURBO

For sure; we'll have to pick a day you and archemitis can both make it. Me and Arch went back monday. Got some good footage and pictures. Too bad the images do little justice to how the terrain looks in person. Have to post some stuff up when we get it uploaded. -
Correct me if I'm wrong here but the feed back carb system uses an Oxygen Sensor. If you ahve an O2 sensor in your cat then I'd say you got a feed back carb. Check?

MorganM replied to Kostamojen's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Not silly at all! Isnt the Valcuires (spelling? sorry...) the ones that run horizontaly opposed engines? I see them running around town all the time here. Also BMW put H engines in some of their bikes. You could certainly put an EA or ... maybe an EJ series engine on a bike frame -

The Backyard Boys at play - BIG Air
MorganM replied to byb555's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That's some MAD air! Well done Is that with just doubled up struts all around, 2 on each corner? I remember seeing you guys catching air in an L seires sedan and had some extra suspension on it to handel the jumping. What else was beefed up for that abuse? Thanks for sharing! -
Took me 2 years to affoard a lift kit. Another 2 years to afforad all the 4WD running gear, rims and tires. Several weeks when I finally had it all in front of me to get it all in. Now that I've been offroading regularly it's all worth the wait As stated above I dont have access to all the tools and materials required to do these extensive mods. I've found its much more cost effective to just buy the parts you want (3" lift kit, pug wheels, junkyard subaru upgrades) and do the work yourself in respect to installing and quality assurance. Research and development is just fancy words for spending lots of money to figure stuff out

Don't forget to get the roll punch (perfect cylinder shaft and completly flat tip) and not a taiperd (taipering shaft and cone tip) or you'll be hating life! If she doesnt come out fairly easy double check to make sure you are pounding the right end of the pin and its plenty lubed up They really do just slip on out with the proper punch and tap of the BFH

Wish I had the words to describe how cool this ORV park was or images to describe it for me. Best I can say is I've only seen terrain like this on TV or the internet and I went from end to end of that park. Obviously I couldnt hit everything but the poopenwagen performed above all expectations. Wish it wasn't just me who made it and maybe Ill get a friend with a camera to come next time! It was off the Richter! -
You can fool the fans but you cant fool the players. If yall are sick of defending this fantasy then do it and post some print outs...
-
Sorry I'd have to say yours stinks more Actualy not many ppl CAN do EJ swaps into L series. Work with what you got? That's the whole point; the EA82 dont have jack* to begin with. Time is going to be the least amount of cost in this fantasy. Much money will be needed on these killer heads, intake, cams, pistons, turbo, exhuast, fuel delivery, etc. REQUIRED to acheive 200+ HP out of an EA82. Even with those fancy parts youll be hard pressed for 200+ HP. Aviation engines dont even put out 200+ HP to the CRANK. Good luck and I'll belive it when I see the dyno print outs.
