  1. Wewt another lifted subaru! Only thing tough about installing a BYB kit is if you have lots of rusty bolts to contend with!
  2. Yeah there is still atleast an inch of fender to cut out there and the door will still seal properly. Even with my BYB 3" lift I had to trim there to fit 29" ATs. Up front with my BYB 3" lift I still had to cut the fenders, fold the support seam in, and bash the crap out of the unibody. Here is how far I trimmed in. Door still seals properly.
  3. That's what I get for copy'n paste'n and not spell check'n! I'll make that change and email the final draft to you Zapar.
  4. Here is a fist draft. This is a lower res .JPG image. Let me know of any changes or if you have gone a different route entierly. I can email the final draft in a high resolution image format so it prints nice.
  5. Back to our regularly shedueled thread here... The poster is 90% done. I got the link on there. Added the sponsers. The sponsor images are low quality for the web so they look kinda crappy in high resolution. I have to head to lunch right now but I'll post a .JPG of it later today.
  6. It has 318,000 miles on it.... replace that one and the other side!
  7. You've been working hard on that man; progress seems to be going fast! Time to strap on some real rubber and cut some fenders I invited my parents over for dinner FRI night so I dunno if I'll be out there. Never know though.

    BYB skid plate?

A backyard offroad mod'er after my own heart As I was swaping in a 'new' axle this Memorial day I was looking at where the swabar links used to be mounted and said to myself "Self; wouldnt that be a good spot to mount some skids?" and I replyed to myself "sho'nuff!" Now I just have to talk to my proffesional fabricator on making it happen
  9. I've started whipping something up. Just need clarification on what exactly you want on it. Sponsors? Directions? Any other importan verbage?
  10. Sounds neato and cant wait to see it
  11. Which transaxle? How low are you trying to go? Your best point of contact would be Mudrat79. He is quite knowledgeable about the interworkings of subaru transaxles from frist hand experience. Good luck
  12. Glad to have you in MN Austin Wish I could give you a warm welcome but I'll be up at Gilbert offroad park for The Crawl 4 The Cure charity offroad event. I'm sure we'll hook up in the near future however. Have a safe trip!

    BYB skid plate?

I can... A) Make a new skid plate put the spacer where the skid plate attaches to the crossmember support instead of up front where it can get hung up and obviously ripped off. now it might get hung up when you go in reverse however. C) don't use any spacer at all and simply bolt it up where it should be up front and forget the rear bolts. it stays on tight, it wont rip off, and it doesnt get hung up on stuff. the back of the skid palt will sit flush to the crossmember support it used to bolt too. if one was so inclined the could drill two new holes in the crossmember support plate and bolt the skid plate on. I havent had a problem with out the two bolts back there yet however. note: this is in reference to the EA82 not the EA81 which has a different skid plate setup.
  14. Following Arch home from Gilbert he said we were fluctuating between 70 and 80 mph depending on traffic, wind, and grade of hills. That's fast enough for me
  15. Glad to see you got it jacked up now Chux! Maybe Shady could comment in more detail on the shifter linkages. I had to trim my plastic console around the shifter to shift properly but that's for a BYB lift. You going to have it running by JUL 4th for the Crawl 4 The Cure up at Gilbert offroad park? It will be a blast! Long live the '88 GLs!
  16. Go with WMS to WMS. Measuring to the edge of your tire isnt accurate for comparisons. Rim offset, backspacing, and tire width usher in too many variables.
  17. Not unless he's got front calipers on the rear I'd imagine one goes to each front caliper.
  18. Wish I had specific inches to list. All I can tell you is WMS to WMS is significantly more narrow on an EA81 vs an EA82. Yes the axle half shafts are different lengths. So if you are trying to go more narrow than EA81 might be your ticket.
  19. Bent frame? Need a frame to bend first I think you just wanted an excuse to move onto the EJ platform :-p
  20. Check all your bushings back there. One possible cuase.
  21. Hawt damn that thing is seriouse! Been so long since we heard about it; was hoping you'd get it finished. Glad to see it sitting on its own weight!
  22. Really depends on who you are talking to. Web wheelers with more money than brains wont give a Subaru the time of day on any grounds; not just offroading. Talk to people out on the trail who are there to have fun offroading more than to impress everyone and you'll find they are glad to see unique vehicles out on the trail enjoying the sport of offroading. As usuall alot of it has to do with education. For example people instantly think all we have is AWD. They are VERY supprised to hear we run Dual Range trannies. Everyone still thinks they are lesbian mobiles for some reason; no mater who I've talked to I just tell them all the lesbians drive the newer Subarus now!
  23. 4th gear, 3500-4000 RPMs, 70-80mph depending on terrain/wind/traffic/etc. Only time I've used 5th since the lift and tires was coming down that huge hill from Hudson WI to MN border! It's worth 29" tires
